Weighing on my mind – Withings scale giveaway

The Withings Smart Body Scale Giveaway

I have always had a love/hate relationship with scales. Actually that’s not true. I’ve just had a hate relationship with scales. Because is there really a woman anywhere who wakes up and thinks, “MAN, I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE IF I PUT ON TWO POUNDS YESTERDAY!”?

So I will go months without weighing myself. MONTHS. Maybe even a year. And I’ve always justified this approach by saying I can just tell if I’ve gained or lost weight (like losing ever happens without me knowing about it) by the way my clothes fit.

If my jeans feel too tight? Then I’ll scale back on the Oreos. If my jeans feel too loose? Then I’ll get on my knees and say a prayer of thankfulness and celebrate with even more Oreos.

But current fashion trends have created a problem with this approach. All of my jeans now have just a hint of stretchy material in them, which is much more forgiving than the Levi 501s of my past. This, combined with the fact that I tend to wear a lot of loose, flowy tunic things as opposed to the days of yore when I tucked shirts in and wore belts, gives me a false sense of security regarding my weight.

Then I go to the doctor for my yearly checkup and realize I’ve been sitting on a throne of spandex lies. What I’m saying is I realized sometime over the last six months that I really needed to pay a little bit more attention to my weight. Not obsess over it, just keep an eye on it since my clothes are no longer an appropriate gauge.

On a total side note, P went to the doctor about three months after we’d gotten married, and when the nurse told him he weighed 185 pounds he told her the scale must be broken because he’d weighed 155 pounds since high school. But the scale was correct. He’d gained 30 pounds in the first three months of our marriage.

Which is such a relief because there was a slight chance I could’ve fit in his jeans when he still weighed 155, and I really don’t want to wear the same size jeans as my husband.

Anyway, all of this to tell you that I was excited when Best Buy sent me a Withings Smart Body Scale.

It’s a scale that features Wi-Fi connectivity so your weight data can be sent directly to your private online account. Key word being PRIVATE. You create a PRIVATE account, the Withings scale connects wirelessly, and keeps track of your weight. And you can set up accounts for each member of your family.

This is so much fancier than the scale we’d previously had in our bathroom, which was one of those really old, non-digital models that just gives you a weight range as opposed to an exact weight.

When we first got our Withings Smart Body Scale I was a little obsessed and may have weighed myself multiple times each day. This led to contentment first thing in the morning when I hadn’t eaten anything yet and misery late in the day when all the water weight and cheese had set in.

Obviously I needed a healthier approach. In more ways than one. So now I’ve cut back to just weighing myself once or twice a week. This gives me an idea of how I’m doing, and if I’m staying in my normal range.

I love that I can keep track of it all online. And I love that the account is PRIVATE.

The good news is you have a chance to win your very own Withings Smart Body Scale.

Just leave a comment on this post letting me know how often you feel the need to weigh yourself or if you just go for the yearly surprise at the doctor’s office.

    Pam says:

When I’m in “weight loss mode” I weigh myself obsessively too

  2. 2
    Andrea says:

I do weigh myself… not very often except when I diet. My scale is typically 5 lbs LESS than my doctors, too, so even when I like the number I know it isn’t accurate which can be a bummer. See? I need the fancy scale!

  3. 3
    Maria says:

Well this is awkward to admit. Twice per day. I’m a numbers girl. :)

  4. 4
    Jodi says:

I like to weigh in daily, except when I gain 5 lbs over Christmas, in which case I avoid it like the plague for as long as possible!

  5. 5
    Jessica says:

I usually weigh myself twice a week or so. Every once in awhile I flake out and quit weighing myself for a few weeks *coughmonthscough* and it never fails that I gain weight. And eventually I gain enough that I start to feel miserable and then have to get on the scale and then I freak out. I am currently in freak out mode and I own a really crappy scale. So I could really use a fancy pants new one!

  6. 6
    Debbie Rutledge says:

I’m avoiding it right now, but plan to start back with the daily weighing in February. I have an awful feeling that I just don’t want to know.

  7. 7
    Beth says:

I weigh myself twice a week. When I started dieting seriously 2 years ago, I started the ritual. But there have been times (like at Christmas) when I go longer between weigh-ins.

  8. 8
    Jayne says:

I work with patients who need to weight themselves daily. When they tell me that they did not weigh because they just could not face it, I completely understand. It is the same reason I skip the scales. Weighing everyday helps me moderate the snacks throughout the day.

  9. 9
    Davida says:

I weigh myself as little as possible. I’ve actually been so bold as to tell the nurse at my doctor’s office that unless knowing my exact weight is necessary for this particular visit I’d just as soon skip the scale. I know that I really shouldn’t continue to bury my head in the sand over my weight since I really need to lose more than just a few pounds!

  10. 10
    Sarah says:

I usually weigh myself once a week, but always right when I wake up! It’s amazing the difference between my “morning” weight and “evening” weight. My doctor says I need to lose about 15 pounds, so a new scale that would keep track would help me out!

  11. 11
    Jill says:

    Every morning!

  12. 12
    Patty K says:

I used to go a year without weighing myself. I lost about 30 pounds recently and found I really need to weigh myself more frequently to stay “on top” of things. So….now…I weigh myself 3-4 times per week. I think it’s easier to keep my weight off when I have maybe 2 pounds to lose than 10.

  13. 13
    Mandy says:

I usually weigh myself once a week. I try to weigh on Sunday mornings so I can be uplifted at church afterwards. :-) .

  14. 14
    Kellie N says:

Well, I used to weigh in once a week. I’ve now decided to check once every 6 months. If my clothes are fitting a little tight- I’ve been known to jump on to see what the damage is!

  15. 15
    Bev says:

Once every morning when I’m convicted by all of my clothes feeling tight. Avoid it altogether otherwise. Denial denial denial.

  16. 16
    Jill Ann says:

I’m impressed with all of these answers — we don’t even own a scale! So, never.

  17. 18
    Mandy C says:

Oh I am a twice a day girl. I need to know the damage, it’s the only way I will keep my weight from really ballooning. But I need to lose 5-10 pounds and have been not doing so well. Would LOVE a new scale!

  18. 19
    Vickie C says:

I weigh every morning after one cup of coffee, before the second. I really need to lose about 10 pounds, but I would be happy with 5. I agree, the clothing we wear today allows us much more wiggle room which leads to more jiggle for me.

  19. 20
    Susan in Indiana says:

Ususally 1-2 times per week. I judge by my favorite jeans which is probably a very flawed way to keep track of weight. :-)

  20. 21
    Carrie says:

I weight myself a few times a week. Not every day but more than once a week.

  21. 22
    Michelle says:

I too use to weigh several times a day! Led to much grumpiness and gnashing of teeth. Now I weigh once a week at the same time. First thing in the morning is best for me. This is exciting. Who knew I would ever be excited at the prospect of winning a scale of all things! :)

  22. 23
    Deb says:

I just saw these scales last nite…I think it’s a great idea. I weigh myself every Saturday morning…..that I remember. Now something can remember my weight for me and the only thing I have to remember is to do it.

  23. 24
    Betsy says:

About once a week. My parents have a nice digital scale and I normally weigh myself everytime I go to their house.

  24. 25
    Courtney says:

    Usually twice a week…when I remember.

  25. 26
    Laura says:

I weigh myself every morning. Winning a scale sounds so much better than getting one from your husband on your birthday. Yep—it happened.

    • 27
      Colorado says:

I received a scale from one of my bridesmaids at my bridal shower! Was she trying to tell me something?

  26. 28
    Lisa Bauer says:

I usually weigh myself once a day now. About two years ago, I didn’t weigh myself at all, then stepped on the scale, and low and behold, I weighed 20 more pounds than I needed to. So now I am about where I want to be and keep on top of it better. But keeping track on-line would be super! Pick me!

  27. 29
    Mandy S says:

I normally weigh myself every couple weeks. However, when I’m trying to lose weight, I’m an every morning kind of girl. :-)

  28. 30
    Sabra G says:

I went for years without even owning a scale going only by that lovely yearly weigh-in with my doctor. I decided to get healthier and get closer to my “I had a dance scholarship and danced 9 hours a day in college” weight. What was I thinking? So I bought a scale and proceeded to freak out and weigh myself daily. Now I only weigh myself on Mondays and Fridays. Mondays are for me and Fridays are for my campus weigh-in (I teach high school). My (crazy) head principal wants our campus to lose 1000 pounds by May 25th. we have started having weekly weigh-ins and “walking” meetings. I may complain but I am actually quite pleased. I love my fellow teachers and want us to all be healthier :)

  29. 31
    katherine says:

I probably weigh myself every other day, in the morning. It’s amazing how one small thing can just ruin your day….:)

  30. 32
    Lorinda says:

    once or twice a week!

  31. 33
    Melissa says:

    About once a month, maybe.

  32. 34
    Dorcas says:

    Probably once a week.

  33. 35
    Tonya says:

Once a week. More than that gets me down.

  34. 36
    beth says:

since my scales batteries died about a year ago, it has only been when i go to the doctors. the doctors scales always say i weigh more than i really do – you’d think a professional medical facility could get my weight right. there’s just no way that those numbers could be right. i mean, i do love my chocolate and cheese and rolls, but i’m really not gaining 3-5 pounds/year. right?!!!

  35. 37
    Ashley F says:

We went years without owning a scale and I would only weigh myself occasionally at the IL’s house. But we bought a scale about 5 yrs ago and now I weigh myself at least 4-5 times a week. This was ever so fun when I was pregnant last year and the numbers went up daily. Its slacked off a little now, but I still like to know what my weight is. And how much it varies from day to day really intrigues me, I guess I’m easily amused. :p

  36. 38
    Jenny F. says:

At least once a week I weigh myself.. Any more than that drives me insane. I have taken my scale out of the bathroom and put it in the bathroom’s walk-in closet. There I am totally hidden away and private in my weigh-in.. I guess that should not really matter since I live alone. The real reason for this is that I weigh without my “heavy” pajamas on and I would rather not have to see myself naked in the full mirror..

  37. 39
    Julie G says:

I lost 30 pounds in 2010 and have kept the weight off. :) It was daily weighing then, but now, I’m usually weighing once or twice a week. I try to see the scale as a tool, and not the ultimate judge, of being healthy. :)

  38. 40
    Carrie Lynn says:

I am in denial and haven’t weighed in months. My only child left for college, which has left me in a low spot of eating and siting on the couch. This may be just the thing to get me motivated.

  39. 41
    chelsea Leming says:

When i’m trying to loose weight, I weigh every day. When I’m not, maybe monthly which leads to a month of weight loss. Can you say yo-yo? No, but really, this time I’m trying to make it a lifestyle…for real!

  40. 42
    Morgan says:

I’m quite obsessed with weighing myself and have been all my life. I had no idea this scale even existed though and would love the change to win one. I tend to weigh myself morning and night. It’s crazy I know but I can’t help it! Pick me!

  41. 43

I try to weigh myself every morning… Usually this does not result in good news.

  42. 44
    Sally says:

I weigh every morning….not that I want to! Do I want to win this scale? Not sure.

  43. 45
    Wendy says:

I would love a scale that doesn’t give me three different readings in a row–super frustrating!!! I always take the lowest but would love to know if this is really the ‘right’ one!

  44. 46
    Linden says:

I weigh myself several times a week… Although my scale is old Nd probably a little nicer to me than a more accurate reading would be!

  45. 47
    Tara says:

I usually weigh in on Monday mornings. Sometimes later in the week, but not always.

  46. 48
    April says:

I have alway’s weighed myself alot in the past when I was dieting but this time I am trying to weigh no more than twice a week. The constant weighing hurts my confidence.

  47. 49
    Becky says:

Our old scale was so off, we finally just tossed it a few months ago. I now weigh myself monthly at my midwife’s office (I’m pregnant). I would LOVE to have a new scale, though, because after this baby is born, I’m done having babies and I want my body back!!! :)

  48. 50
    Alyson says:

We don’t own a scale. The horrific shock/surprise comes once a year at the doctor’s office.

  49. 51
    Deborah says:

Once a month … maybe. I had a baby 5 months ago, and I haven’t really wanted to know.

  50. 52
    Anne S says:

Sometimes every day and sometimes every two weeks. No rhyme or reason.

  51. 53
    Jill says:

If I’ve been good about working out/eating, I’ll weigh myself daily. If I’ve been a slacker, my scale mysteriously disappears for awhile…

  52. 54
    JoLisa says:

Every morning—down 38 pounds since August. Now if I could just quit maintaining and start losing again!

  53. 55
    Spiritmom says:

    every.single.morning.

  56. 58
    Jan B says:

Once a week. I tried going longer but that was a mistake.

  57. 59
    Colleen says:

I weigh myself about 3-4 times a week…however, if I see the scale going up, then I DON’T weigh myself at all…for many days…if the numbers go down, then I weigh myself everyday until it stops moving:(

  58. 60
    Wendy says:

Unfortunately, I tend to only get weighed when I go to the doctor, but that could change if I won a fancy, schmancy, new scale like the WITHINGS SMART BODY SCALE.

  59. 61
    Courtney C says:

I weigh once a week. Always in the morning, before breakfast!

  60. 62
    Timmarie says:

I weighed myself a few times a week until my scale broke. Which is why none of my clothes fit anymore…

  61. 63
    emily says:

Awesome giveaway! I am a little obsessed with the scale but I eat better on the days that I weigh a little more than the day before. We are doing “Biggest Loser” at my work for the next 12 weeks so I am hoping to see that scale number dropping, drastically! :)

    • 64
      Lina says:

We are doing a Biggest Loser competition too! Had our first weigh in today. My weight loss was 3 lbs…I was impressed with myself until the person recording my weight informed me she’d lost 5.

  62. 65
    Jenn P. says:

Once or twice a week for me. In the morning before I have eaten anything.

  63. 66
    Sallie Baker says:

    Almost every day……all my life.
    A constant struggle.
    Ho Hum.
    But that’s a cool scale….would be fun!

  64. 67
    Abby says:

My scale is broken….was using the jeans method until today-when my bubble burst about the spandex.

  65. 68
    Janelle says:

Right after each of my kids was born, I was in obsessive weigh yourself mode…multiple times a day! Now, it’s usually every couple of weeks (often times not even that) or when my clothes is feeling really tight!

  66. 69
    Kandi says:

I weigh about once per week…unless I put something on that used to fit just fine and suddenly it is tight and I start freaking out. Then I weigh about ten times per day and stop eating anything (not really, but you know what I mean) until it fits again. Then repeat cycle. My current scale is about five pounds lighter than a “doctor’s scale”. This TICKS me off every time I go to the doctor. I try to wear the lightest clothes possible to the doctor’s office. I’ve even been known to wear summer clothes during the winter. Still five pounds heavier.

  67. 70
    Jenn says:

I try to stick to weekly weigh ins but usually end up weighing in closer to daily.

  68. 71
    rachel e. says:

I use to weigh everyday, but now that I’m expecting I do it once a week or so just to make sure I’m not losing any more weight.

  69. 72
    Megan says:

When I’m in weight loss mode, I try to weigh myself once a week (no more, no less)

  70. 73
    Amy T says:

When I’m losing weight, almost every day until I make myself go to once a week. Or at least two or three times a week. When I’m not, then every few weeks, or sometimes every Monday because I think THIS is the week I do something about it!

  71. 74
    momof8 says:

I weigh every morning and night. You’re right, mornings are much better.

  72. 75
    Tracy W says:

I weigh myself every morning. I know that isn’t really a good idea and not good for mood most days eiither. I need to just do it once a week.

  73. 76
    Gay H. says:

I haven’t owned a scale in many years. We got one from a wedding shower but after 30+ years I decided it really wasn’t working properly and got rid of it. I only weigh when I go to the doctor’s office which is every 3 months. I’d love to have a new scale!

  74. 77
    Katie P. says:

Usually I’m a once-a-week girl, but now that I’m expecting our first baby I wait for the surprise at the Doctor’s office! This scale sounds great for getting back on track after baby.

  75. 78
    Susan B. says:

I weigh every morning, unless I ate a big dinner the night before or was really bad the whole day…then I can’t look! I’ll wait after a couple of days of being good to check again.

  76. 79
    Brenda says:

I used to weigh myself every week. When the numbers started going up I realized I resent my scale, so it’s been sitting in the corner of my bathroom unused for a month, receiving hateful glares from me every time I go in there

  77. 80
    Kristen says:

I try to avoid it at all costs but then I do get severely depressed when I have a doctor’s appointment. A new scale would be great. I need to lose quite a bit…

  78. 81
    lpmhawk says:

I weigh myself every morning right after I wake up… helps me to keep my eating in check that day or let myself slide a little or kill it just a tad more in the gym.

  79. 82
    Lisa says:

    I weigh once a week.

  80. 83
    nicole says:

Once a week, on average, if I’m going to the gym regularly. I don’t weigh on our scale at home right now because it is not accurate.

  81. 84
    Darlene says:

If I am trying to lose weight, I check daily. Otherwise, once a month….maybe. :)
I just went to the doctor yesterday though, and now I’m just depressed….jk, but it wasn’t too pretty. Ouch!!

  82. 85

I take much the same approach as you. Except when i’m trying to lose weight then I become OCD about it which ultimately leads to me want to drown my cares in a bag of Reese’s because WHY DOESN’T THE SCALE SHOW THAT I WORKED OUT FOR AN HOUR YESTERDAY AND ATE NOTHING BUT YOGURT AND RABBIT FOOD ALL DAY?!? You understand. :)

  83. 86
    Ali says:

I weigh myself obsessively,, like everything I walk in my bathroom. And the results are never good,, especially in the evening… Not sure why I do this to myself… It’s like I need some confirmation..,”yep, still haven’t lost those 20 pounds”.. Cuz you know it was 7am when I last weighed… And now it’s 8:15.. Things could have changed!!

I think I would love and hate that scale all at the same time…. Perhaps I would love to hate it…. And when I say it,, I really mean the extra 20 I’m packin.

  84. 87
    jenny adams says:

Now that i put myself on a diet….multiple times a day!!!

  85. 88
    Stacie Sawvell says:

Always always in the morning after I get out of bed and before I eat anything. And usually once a week. Unless I’m not feeling good about it then I avoid it all together :)

  86. 89
    MamaChristi says:

I weight myself obsessively because I’m about to have weight loss surgery and have started a pre-surgery diet. So far…..9 lbs. Yay me!!!!!!!!

  87. 90
    Jenina says:

I used to weigh myself twice a day, but now I weigh myself once a week.

  88. 91
    Lari says:

I wouldn’t mind having a scale to monitor my weight. I usually go by the way my clothes fit too. Got on the scale a few weeks ago at the dr’s…yikes!

  89. 92
    Dana S. says:

I would say I weigh myself maybe four times a year……on a scale that I’m pretty sure isn’t very accurate. I’ve definitely had that oh no! feeling at the doctor’s office too…

  90. 93
    guerriero@opsb.net says:

I have never owned a scale, but because I seem to be gaining about 5 pounds a year, I think I need one…. Or I will weigh exactly 345 lbs. when I’m 80.

  91. 94
    Julie says:

It is rare because I’m afraid it will have one of those cartoon like reactions and blow up! Now I just need a smart one that will just say “good job!” or “girl, you better lay off those dreamcakes cupcakes!”

  92. 95
    Andrea in Aggieland says:

Currently working on shedding some pounds and I get obsessive. I weigh every morning and sometimes in the evening too so I can see how much weight I lose while sleeping. I’ve come to the conclusion I can lose 3-4 pounds each night (only to gain that back over the course of the next day) so my weight loss tip is to sleep….a lot!

  93. 96
    Monica A says:

I usually weigh myself once a week.

  94. 97
    Stephanie says:

I’ve been wanting one those scales, but hubby doesn’t want to spend the money!

I weigh myself 3-4 times/week and keep track of my weight on an iPhone app. I’m not trying to lose weight, but I have a 5-lb range that I like to stay in. When I get to the top of that range, I know I need to focus more on what I’m eating.

  95. 98
    Serah says:

I just started weight watchers back in December and I weigh myself on Mondays, except for when I get overly excited and weigh myself every day. :) I’d love to win this scale!

  96. 99
    Megan Joy says:

About once a week. I just like to make sure I don’t go too far in the wrong direction.

  97. 100
    Laura B says:

    You had me at…

Then I go to the doctor for my yearly checkup and realize I’ve been sitting on a throne of spandex lies. Hahahaha!!
Thanks for my laugh out loud moment of the day! I have now had two days in a row of Elf moments. Emily pulled a Buddy escalator move yesterday that had us in stitches. Luckily, I mean laughter – not the painful kind. Have a great day!!

  98. 101
    Courtney says:

I weigh myself every morning and usually every evening – would be great to have a scale send it wirelessly to an account so i don’t have to write it down every morning :)

  99. 102
    Hayley says:

Most of the time I live in denial and so go months without stepping on the scale. Then when I do, I start dieting (only two sweets a day instead of every time I walk past the kids’ stash) and exercising (or at least thinking about it). This lasts til I’m back in my normal range and then life goes back to normal for the next couple months.

  100. 103
    Vanessa says:

I weigh myself never unless I’m trying to lose weight. THEN, it’s full-on obsession mode. Neither is good! :)

  101. 104
    BethA says:

Well, I’m a big chicken. I seem to only weigh myself when my jeans are looser than the last time I wore them. That gives me the false confidence to step on the scale and admire how much weight I’ve lost. Good grief, the disappointment, the shame, the agony!

  102. 105

    Lina says:

Anywhere from daily to once a year…depending on my state of denial regarding my weight. And now, I’m off for a public weigh in here at my workplace…we have a Biggest Loser competition going…we each pay $6 per week for the right to weigh in publicly (well, really only in front of one person) and to be in the running for the weekly jackpot as the Biggest Loser (by % of weight) and also for the final jackpot for overall % of weight lost. Wish me luck!

    Michelle says:

I only weigh myself before I shower. And I try not to focus on it because I’ll become obsessive. But my husband weighs himself several times a day and writes it down. He would be a perfect candidate for the Withings scale now that I think about it!

    Upside Brown says:

Well…isn’t this a faaaancy “weigh” to track ourselves! My trainer tells me not to weigh more than once a week, but I’m a woman and even a 1/2 pound loss is reason to celebrate and I want to know when it happens! Plus…my scale is always about 2 pounds off from his and I need this for my own peace of mind! Such a cool product.

  122. 125
    The Mama says:

I’m a weigh every day kind of girl. Every morning, right when I wake up. When I’m trying to lose weight, I’ll also weigh at night before bed to see how I did all day, even though I don’t think that’s necessarily smart.

  123. 126
    Hannah Lee says:

I have been weighing myself once a day, but I totally agree that it is not accurate. This scale sounds awesome and would love a chance to win one!

  124. 127
    Lesli says:

To be honest the only time I weigh consistantly is the weeks leading up to the dreaded once a yr dr appt. Other than that, whenever I get some bright idea to try to lose weight, weigh, look at number and then want to throw the scale out the window. Love the word private, by the way!

    Ashley says:

For a long time I never weighed myself, the only time I knew my weidght would be when I went to the doctor. But now, like you, I’m not sure I can count on my clothes to be an accurate gauge of my weight fluctuations, so I weight myself about every month at the gym. We don’t have a scale at home, and this would be a great way for me to keep track!

  127. 130
    Katie says:

Since I’m 40 weeks pregnant, I get weighed way too often at the doctor’s. Pretty soon I’ll be doing more weighing at home as I try to drop the baby weight!

  128. 131
    Judith says:

I used to go yearS, but in my mid-30s realized that really wasn’t working for me, so I usually step on the scales every morning, just so I have an objective way to know when I’m letting things get out of control. Not that I always take action, when things start getting out of control. Sometimes the term ‘weight watcher’ for me just means watching the weight climb day after day after month and on and on …

  129. 132
    stephanie says:

    Kim L. says:

This post is very timely as I just weighed myself this morning after not weighing myself for a couple months. I used to weigh myself every day and I am not sure when that actually stopped. I think once a week is a good indicator of how things are going. Your comments about today’s clothing are very true! Stretchy jeans and flowing tops and sweaters are not a good indicator of weight gain/loss : ) I would love to have this scale! Maybe it would give me a different result than my current scale. Probably not…

    rrmama says:

I only weigh myself when ever we go visit the in-laws at the lake because they have a digital scale, kinda like the one from Weight Watchers. And of course when I go to the doctors office. Which seems to be an awful lot these days.

It varies for me….sometimes I will go a couple of weeks without weighing myself. And other times I will weigh myself 2-3 times in a week. I usually go by how my clothes are fitting as well. I really need to get with it and start exercising again. I’ve definitely lost all motivation though and can’t seem to get on track.

Recently at the doctor’s office I was complaining about being stuck in my weight loss, and he reminded me that I had lost 20 pounds since the last time I had seen him. I’ve always hated to weigh myself and would go months without doing it, but since it never fails that I gain weight because I’m not keeping track of it, I’m now weighing myself every other day to every day. I have to admit I jump on the scale every morning right before I get in the shower. Keeps me on top of if I’ve gained a few pounds, and right now I’m starting with a small but doable goal of losing 10 pounds now that I’m back to excercising regularly again. After I accomplish that maybe another 10 to get back to about where I was when I quit smoking 4 1/2 years ago. I’m on my way back down and this scale would be great!

    Courtney says:

This is so timely! I don’t currently own a scale, but weighed myself at my parents’ house over the holidays. Let’s just say I was quite UNpleasantly surprised. I now realize why the girl at the DMV (DL renewal) gave me the side-eye when I guestimated my weight around 115…the same I’ve weighed since college. Yeah, I was about 20 pounds off. Oops! So January has been all about calorie counting, yoga and juice cleanses. :-/

My husband decided to lose weight starting New Year’s Day but we don’t have a set of scales at home so he has no idea how much (if any) he’s losing :-) I would love to have this set of scales for our house so we can both keep up with our weight loss at home.

    RebeccaF. says:

    Mel,
I had to “weigh in” haha! I clicked that link and was pretty much amazed. I have not owned a scale in almost ten years. That sounds crazy but listen, I have given birth to 5 kids and I’ll be 40 in May. No way, no how was I weighing myself of my own volition.
Sometime in November I started exercising using my “On Demand” button cause I wanted a new pair of jeans and I refused to go into a store and try on sizes that I did not want to be. I just wanted to buy a pair in the size I wanted to be. So that worked for about six weeks until my husband started working out of town all week and I was overwhelmed with working full time and taking care of the house and kids, etc. etc.
I am just not eating carbs now cause I am a sucker for all the white stuff (bread, pasta, rice, sugar). I can tell a difference in the jeans I did buy in December (Tarjay – buy one get one free).
All that to say – I wanna know how much I weigh cause I refuse to weigh myself at the grocery store in front of God and everybody!
    Thanks!

Last time I was at the ob/gyn for my yearly and they wanted me to get on the scale I said ‘no’. The nurse gave me a funny look. I told her that it gave me high blood pressure, made me grumpy and there was no reason. She then tried to trick me and told me to step on the scale backwards so she could see how tall I was. I told her I was the same height I have always been, 5’7″. She was exasperated and I was elated!! At home I weigh ever few weeks.

I weigh myself every other day or so. i feel that the floor in my bathroom is uneven so i end up pulling up the rug and moving the scale all over the floor in the bathrom and checking my weight at least 4 or 5 times. Yep. I’m a weigh in once or twice a week-er. And our scale is only sometimes accurate. Sometimes it tells me I’m 10 pounds lighter, and sometimes 10 pounds heavier, so it’s not really to be trusted. Although I’d love to trust it on the 10 pounds lighter days. :)

Please enter me in the giveway. I’m a bit obsessive on the weighing in thing. I do it dailynow that I’ve lost 40lbs, but only do so in the morning before breakfast, never in the afternoon. Never. I’ve done that a time or two and learned my lesson real quick. Morning will do just fine.

  289. 294
    April says:

Being that our scales are currently broken (this would be perfect timing) I’m not weighing at all right now but usually it’s once a day just to keep myself in check. Although I have more of a toning issue than a weight issue. Things are not in the same places after 4 children. Yikes! The Shred works (thanks for introducing me, I think) but it requires actually putting the DVD in and doing the workout. Something I haven’t done in oh, about 7 months. Shame.

I perhaps weigh myself more than necessary. I strip off my PJ’s (I’m not willing to see those extra few ounces on the scale if I didn’t eat them..) and jump on the scale as soon as I wake up in the morning. This is usually followed by me whining to my husband about how I must be eating too much salt b/c all this water weight MUST be what is throwing the scale off. And I steer clear of it the rest of the day, and repeat process next morning. Perhaps not the healthiest but it works for me :) Maybe if the data was sent to my PRIVATE account, and not lost in my head with my forever growing to-do list, I would get to see better numbers every morning!

This scale is so stinkin awesome, I’m such a tech junkie it would really make losing weight less sucky. Leading up to my trip to Houston this weekend, things were going great and I have lost 12 pounds. Since my trip, I have been afraid to weigh myself since I don’t think all the Tex-Mex helped me at all. :) But tomorrow I am getting back to my running routine so I hope I can start weighing myself again, although perhaps not as obsessively as before.
