Funny, I saw a similar scene at my house today. I’m not sure if it was the tryptophan in the turkey or the Chocolate Swirl Cheesecake that was so rich and heavy it weighed everyone down and they had no choice but to lie down and fall asleep.
I was going to call you but my fingers were so swollen from the massive salt intake today that I didn’t think I’d be able to punch the buttons on my phone.
After drinking a LOT of water, I have regained the use of my fingers. Kind of.
Scenes like this one are being played all across America. We also get the added benefit of the old people farting and not even noticing that it coming from them. Oh joy, oy oy oy
What a sweet picture! Of course, it’s totally odd to me that P is the one awake, because around here, my hubby is the first to crash.
We wound up staying in G’town instead of traveling with 3 kids and a newborn, so that meant I chose the less stressful option of cooking all evening on Wednesday and all morning on Thursday so that I could spend all afternoon Thursday cleaning after my 3 kids tore threw the 30-minute meal.
No nap for me.
And no nap for my kids. But that’s because they have energy to burn and a fear that the world ceases to exist when they pause to close their eyes.
But I made everything from scratch and we ate off of the china, with cloth napkins, napkin rings and a table cloth. There was even a centerpiece! My kids were so excited you’d have thought we had opted for a Thanksgiving at Chuck E. Cheese. My sons even took it upon themselves to “dress” for the occasion…OH. MY. WORD. Jackson was in a light blue long-sleeved button down, a navy pinstripe vest that was a good 2 inches ABOVE his waist, red bowtie, and a black with red scrolling Chinese jacket that my mother-in-law brought back from a mission to China 2 years ago. All of that with tan chord pants and turquoise cowboy boots. And my oldest son wasn’t any closer to a Tim Gunn vision. He even was sporting his own pair of oddly-hued blue cowboy boots (gifts from my mother) to coordinate with his clip-on tie. It was like Thanksgiving dinner at the circus.
What a sweet family photo…yet one more thing to be thankful for this holiday.
P.S. My husband had 3 naps today before bed at 10:30. I was the last one to bed last night, first one up this morning and last one to bed again tonight. It’s a good thing there’s taters and gravy in the fridge!
Well, y’all look so. darn. cute that I can actually find forgiveness in my stone-cold heart for the way your Aggies ruthlessly stomped all over my beloved Longhorns. AGAIN.
This is my grinchy way of saying: hey, great game, y’all totally earned the win.
I hope y’all had an absolutely wonderful holiday of the turkey. Wish I could try out your yummy recipes, but, as I think I’ve confessed here before, I’m challenged by the making of instant pudding. That whole whisking-briskly thing throws me every time.
I had the audacity to ask my husband if Christmas lights were going up on Friday.
“No,” he mumbled as he turned over…”Just let me enjoy one day.”
Um…Let’s just say they didn’t go up today either, but who’s counting? I figure the less I expect out of him, the less he will expect from me, and so on…till the left-overs are all gone.
That tryptophan. It will do you in every single time.
Glad to see that you had a great day.
We saw a few of those comas around here today! Was it cold in San Antonio today. It was in Dallas and I was just giddy!
Happy Thanksgiving.

I believe that is what took me over yesterday…a food coma.
Why do we do this to ourselves?
Maybe Thanksgiving should be a week long festivity with one dish per day.
that’s proof of a good holiday meal!!
Great picture! Somehoe the turkey had a reverse effect on my kiddos. There were no naps…and boy, did I want one!
I can so relate because the pecan pies were Heaven! Thanks for the recipe!
Sweet.
I think I’ve had 12 naps in the last 24 hrs…..
Awww..I LOVE that picture. We were doing the same thing yesterday….aka “puppy belly.”
My husband and I just woke up from our food coma. I think it’s a turkey conspiracy.
You are soo cute . . . are you wearing a scarf with fall hues during your Thanksgiving nap? Always got the accessories. . . I’m so impressed.
I LOVE this picture!
Our Thanksgiving was great. Looks like yours was too. After you regained consciousness, that is.
WE BEAT t.u.!!!!!!!!!!
It is a happy Thanksgiving weekend indeed! WHOOP!
Sure hope P didn’t have to get up to go to the bathroom or anything!
And what a glorious food coma it was!
Wow, Caroline looks like P!

Enjoy the weekend, and the post-victory buzz!
That is so cute. Was it totally staged, or were you actually sleeping?

What??? You didn’t wear elastic waist band pants to T. dinner??????
That perfectly captures the essence of the Holiday of the Turkey.
