It was a great birthday filled with friends and family and love. And I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all the birthday wishes. I wish we could all eat leftover chocolate cake together.
And I have nothing more to say today. Which really works out because I want y’all to read this post by Ann Voskamp.
(Remember? I threw up in front of her?)
After a summer of feeling like I’m in the middle of a little bit of my own drought, it woke me up. And made me incredibly grateful and left me humbled. And a little raw.
I hope it will do the same for you.

WOW what a powerful post! Thanks for sharing. Glad you had a nice birthday!
Whoa. That was indeed powerful. Thanks for sending me over there to read it.
I can’t stop the tears. Thank you Melanie.
What an amazing post……thru tears of Thanksgiving for my many blessings let us NOT forget who we belong to……and those who went before us.
I can’t begin to tell you how much I needed to read that…thank you for sharing.
I made a cake in honor of your birthday. Okay, so it was an accident. I wanted to make brownies for the boys and I grabbed the wrong box. (Martha Stewart would shutter.) I thought, “That’s alot of water for the normal brownie mix. Oh, that’s because it’s cake mix.” Then I discovered that I didn’t have a jar of icing, so I had to make Crisco Icing FROM SCRATCH. Omg…I could eat a bowl of that by itself. It’s one of the only recipes with multiple steps (including using an electric mixer for TEN MINUTES) that I will actually make. And since I was slaving away over it, I decided that it must have been in honor of your birthday. Happy Birthday! Your icing was delicious. Cake was questionable.
A friend of mine had posted this to FB the other day….. I could not. stop. crying. It moved me in a most powerful way. Thank you for sharing it with your readers. I pray that it moves people to really live their faith in a way they never have before!
So happy you had a gret birthday!
WOW – just WOW!
wow….thank you
Read it! Loved it! Lots of sadness & loss due to tragedies going on in our community as well as around our country due to the wildfires. Couldn’t pick a better day to share that link for me. Love to you & yours!
Thanks so much for sharing this today! I have picked that book up lots of times and looked at it so thank you for leading me to the blog today. I will be spending more time there!
Wow! Thank you. And I sure understand spiritual drought….pray that you will experience a wonderful, springtime-like, nourishing rain in your soul.
Both you and Anne have your own special way with words. Love you both.
