A day of silence

I know this isn’t technically total silence since I’m writing something. But I felt like I needed to explain why.

There were two heartbreaking tragedies that I know of over the weekend.

A young wife and mother named Julee Turner lost her husband, Matt, in a car accident. He not only leaves behind his wife, but his ten-month-old baby girl. Today is his funeral.

The Ledet family lost their dad and two young brothers in a plane crash. They were flying to the Aggie game in Mississippi when the private plane went down.

I don’t know either of these families personally. But it’s a reminder that life is precious and that there are so many out there hurting for various reasons.

And so today I thought that you could take the few minutes it normally takes you to read whatever nonsense I write and say a prayer for these families and others who may be going through hard times.

Thanks, y’all.

Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

The plane crash happened very close to our hometown. The fourth person killed was the pilot’s brother, the boy’s uncle…an entire family legacy…just takes the breath right out of you. I have followed Julee as well, just heartbreaking.

    Definitely a heavy heart. Praying.

Gracious Father in heaven, You alone know the hurt that goes on in our lives. Wrap your arms around these precious families. Let them feel your presence and know they are loved. Hold them when they weep and let them laugh again. Heal their hurts as only You can.
In the mighty name of Jesus- Amen.

Yes. So many tragedies in this neck of the woods as well. A reminder of just how fragile life is. Praying.

The Ledets were friends of my husband from A&M. In fact they were founders of a fraternity there back in the 70′s. A group of friends has stayed in touch and gathered when we could. Just heartbreaking for all the family members of these tragedies. Praying for peace and comfort for them.

  10. 11

Thank you for this reminder. I’m praying for these families.

I am a long-time reader but rarely, if ever, comment. I am adding prayers for these families to my own.

I also wanted to say thank you for that wonderful Bible verse. I have friends whose dad/FIL passed away on Sunday and I have been searching for an appropriate verse to share with them in my condolences. This one is a small prayer of its own answered – it’s perfect. Thank you.

Matt Turner was a newsman in our area and a godly Christian man. He was the son of a pastor and lost his father to cancer. He and his family had recently moved back to their hometown area to be closer to their family. Very sad and a great loss.

  13. 14

Thr Matt Turner story has broke my heart, he was from the town next to mine. My heart hurts for his wife who lost her best friend and his daughter who will never really know her daddy. My prayers are with those who are hurting.

  14. 15

    I’m praying! Thanks :-)

I’ve been reading Julee’s blog for years and I am beyond heartbroken for her and Preslee. They have been a constant on my mind since I find out of Monday and will forever be in my prayres.

I had not heard of the other tragedy but my thoughts and prayers are also with that family.

    Erin Seaman says:

    Isaiah 61

1 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,[a]
2 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
    to comfort all who mourn,
3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
    instead of ashes,
    the oil of joy
    instead of mourning,
    and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
    a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.

As Isaiah the prophet was foretelling the calling of Jesus , we ask that you, Jesus, would comfort those who mourn and would give them beauty for the ashes that they find their lives in right now. Only you Jesus can take what is burnt and destroyed and bring something beautiful from it and we ask for that for all anyone who feels burnt by life. Grace, mercy and healing we ask in Jesus’s name. Amen!!

This same weekend, my son lost a friend. 21 years old, taken off life support after a brain injury sustained in a motorbike accident. The person driving the car that hit him, was allegedly texting. Life is so precious and short.
