Because who doesn’t love free?

So some of you might remember that for the last two years my friend Sophie and I have been the emcees for a conference called DotMom.

dotmom-2013-email-templates-dallas

And some of you may have no idea what I’m talking about and that’s okay too because how are you supposed to remember my life? I can barely remember my own life, much less someone else’s.

Anyway, DotMom is a conference geared specifically for moms. Hence, the name. And for the last two years it’s been in Birmingham, Alabama. But this February 22-23 it’s going to be held in Frisco, Texas right outside of Dallas. I couldn’t be happier about it because, while Alabama is lovely, there is no place like home and I’m so excited for some Texas moms to get to experience all the fun.

(Not that it’s limited to moms from Texas. It’s open to anyone who wants to come to Texas for the conference.)

(Am I over-explaining?)

(Yes. Yes I am.)

The DotMom conference is one of my very favorite events because there are great speakers plus breakout sessions on everything from being a stepmom to being a good in-law. Rumor has it I might even be doing a session on fashion.

And the four main speakers are some of my favorites: Priscilla Shirer, Angie Smith, Vicki Courtney and John Croyle. I may actually be most excited to see John Croyle because I first met him at DotMom in Alabama last fall and he gave me a hard time about the Aggies joining the SEC. The phrase “lamb to the slaughter” may have been used.

(I may or may not bring him his very own Johnny Manziel t-shirt.)

The thing is I never leave DotMom without feeling like I’ve learned something that will help me be a better mom. Sometimes it’s just good to listen to other people’s experience and advice as we try to figure this whole parenting thing out.

Plus, did I mention that Frisco has a large outlet mall? It doesn’t get much better than that.

I’m thrilled to have two free passes to DotMom in Frisco on February 22-23 to give away today. All you have to do for a chance to win is leave a comment below. I’ll email the winner this Sunday, January 13th to confirm that they can attend.

If in any event the winner is unable to fulfill their duties, the crown will go to the first runner-up.

Except there is no crown. Just free tickets.

And if you don’t win, I hope you’ll sign up to go anyway. I promise it will be great.

ME, me, me! It sounds like the perfect getaway for my bestie and I to relax and reenergize. We both run in home daycares with 6 children each aged 4 and under, and believe me we could use a break!!!

  2. says

I would love to go. I’m particularly excited about Priscilla Shirer AND the breakout sessions. I love that there is one for moms of kids with special needs. And if I don’t win the tickets, I will try my best to get there anyway. :)

  3. trish says

I’ve already bought tickets for me and a group of ladies from our church in New Mexico to attend! Excited we might get to hear your fashion advise. As a fellow Ag, I vote for the Johnny Football tee for John Croyle!

  4. Stacey says

Would love to win a free ticket and take a friend! I’m a single parent to a four-year old boy, so I need all the help I can get! Ha!

  5. Jeanie says

I would love to take my daughter to this conference with me. She recently found out that she is expecting baby #2 (not planned I might add). She is a military wife to an Air Force pilot. Long separations due to frequent deployments are the norm in the military. It amazes me when their husbands are gone for extended stretches of time how well these wives learn to adjust and adapt with little complaining, become strong self-reliant women for their families, and make time to rally around other wives within their squadron that need extra support in their husband’s absence. I would consider it an immense blessing to hear Angie Smith speak. Through her blog which I started reading some years back, I have come to respect and admire her devotion to her family. Thanks for this opportunity for 2 lucky women.

  6. Lisa S. says

Oh my goodness! I’ve wanted to go to dotmom for several years but with two small kiddos with med conditions, I couldn’t make it happen. But, close to home!! Yay!! I’m gearing up for the long winter of 2013- a total of 3 surgeries and 3 months of casts between my 2 precious kiddos starting next week. 2 nights away in a hotel and surrounded by other moms yet close enough to get home to my people if I need to & smack in the middle of surgery season sounds absolutely glorious. Sorry- way too much info but yes, please, would love to go!:)

And I’ll bring my own mommy crown! ;0) haha

  64. Aubrey says

As a single parent, this would be such an amazing opportunity…but what would make it even better is that my best friend (I call her my Soul Sister) is getting married in June, resulting in a blended family: Her daugher and her fiance’s two daughters. It would be such an amazing experience to be able to share this with her before I fly out to Phoenix for her wedding. She’s my “person” and I’m hers. Who could think of a better way to grow our already close friendship?

(I don’t actually have a guest house, I have a guest room that doubles as my office but it sounds so much better to offer a guest house as incentive for fixing the drawing.)

  84. Gee says

Can’t wait to go to the Dotmom conference in my hometown, Frisco! Whoop! I’ve already got tickets! Yeahboy! Just one small correction: Frisco does NOT have an outlet mall – it has an awesome “normal” mall called Stonebriar Centre with every store you can imagine!

  89. Jennifer says

I’d love to attend! I have three children ages 7,10 and 11….I’d love to hear you and everyone else speak …. Fun!

  90. Cathy says

Take John Croyle the Johnny Manziel jersey….I told my Texas A&M Aggie son-in-law that any time there is a comment about the 2012 UAT (University of Alabama Tuscaloosa) National Championship Team, it will be followed by this phrase: “whose only loss that season was to the Texas A&M Aggies. The Aggies were in their first year in the SEC and ruined UAT’s chances at an undefeated season.” The Aggies’ win that day was the highlight of this Auburn girl’s season! and Welcome to the SEC!
