Interaccessory prayer

This is word-for-word the bedtime prayer offered by Caroline last night. I feel certain it is destined to become a classic along the lines of “Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep”.

“Dear Jesus,

Thank you for this day and all this stuff you give us.

Please send a beautiful rainbow for us to see some time when it rains.

Thank you for my mama. We love each other so much.

(reaches up to touch my ear)

Please Jesus, don’t let her wear these earrings anymore.

Amen.”

You’d better get that thing copyrighted! It’s destined to become a classic. It kind of reminds me of when my son was small and I would try to sing him to sleep. He would grab my face and say, “don’t sing, mommy.” Course, it’s easier to change earrings than a singing voice.

    Terrillyn says:

I would leave a wonderfully witty comment but I’m laughing to hard.

  3. 3
    Melanie says:

She never disappoints. Look out. When she gets to Kindergarten and really learns her letters, she is going to take over your blog. :>)

    Mary B says:

We need to see the earrings! What a gem!

    Becky Jo says:

That girl HAS to be the funniest girl I have never met! I would write more … but I can’t see the keyboard through the tears. I am laughing that hard – just woke the baby and the three year old is looking at me like I have done lost it. She would be correct!

    Emily says:

A classic! That kids is hilarious! What do the offensive earrings look like?

  8. 8

So JUST what earrings were you wearing?

  9. 9
    Scott says:

So how is God going to answer that prayer? I hope you’re not planning on shaking her faith in The Almighty by wearing those monstrosities again.

    partyoffive says:

That girl always cracks me up!

  11. 11

It’s nice to see she is so concerned about your fashion well-being. We girls have to look out for each other.

  12. 12
    sawyersmommy says:

Well, I guess it is true we can bring all things to Him. LOL If this child becomes an editor at Vogue, you will have some awesome stories to tell.

I don’t know what kind of earrings you had on, but I think I’d make sure I put those away and gave them for her to wear on her wedding day.

  13. 13

Your child is incredible. Someone get this kid a reality show, stat.

  14. 14
    Mamacita says:

When my son was her age, we were having bedtime prayers and I thought it was such a loving, sweet moment we were having. I thought, he’ll remember this moment when he is grown, with kids of his own. I leaned down to kiss him, and he said “Mom, your breath stinks.” :)

  15. 15
    Emmy says:

That is so cute! I love it! : )

  16. 16

Does she take after her mother by any chance?

And yes – I want to see the offending earrings too.

  33. 33

Thank goodness we have loved ones around us to offer up interaccessory prayers! THAT is hilarious!!

  34. 34
    Babystepper says:

One of my greatest fears is that my little girl will be more fashion conscious than I am. (Which wouldn’t be hard, actually. I think ducks are probably more fashion conscious than I am.)

  35. 35

OK – too funny! Your daughter always cracks me up! I wish I could see her antics in person!

  36. 36

  39. 39
    jubilee says:

When I glanced at your title before reading, I thought it said “Intercessory Prayer.” And then when I read your post, I had to go back to the title. Yours is a much better title.
I have a four year old diva who could benefit from Caroline’s sense of style. Maybe Caroline could do her own “Fresh Fash Friday?”

  40. 40
    Amanda says:

That was killer. Curt demanded to know why I was laughing so hard.

  41. 41
    Sister Seven says:

I love to hear my girls pray. They don’t usually bring up my earrings though. Cute.

  42. 42
    Michelle says:

She definitely has your sense of humor. No filter for 4 year olds – you know what is on their minds. :)

  43. 43

This child cracks me up. Maybe she should become your Fashion Friday consultant for the under 6 crowd. She does have a gift!

  44. 44
    Beth_C says:

You’ve got to share a picture of those earrings with us.

She is going to be a style maven!

    Too, too, TOO cute.

Also precious, priceless, and purely enjoyable!!!!

  46. 46
    Kim says:

That’s fabulous! She’s going to be like my sister who was shocked one day when someone told her she was blunt. It only took her 17 years to realize what the rest of us had not for ages. Too funny!

  47. 47

Recent lurker forced out by how much this post made me laugh! And the title – oh the punniness!

  48. 48

Oh, she is just too, too funny!

  52. 52

that is too much! We have GOT to see the earrings!

  53. 53
    Jill says:

Ah 4 year old girls. My daughter is so hard on my mom for what earrings she wears. I rarely wear them so I escape her wrath.

  54. 54
    Melissa H. says:

Oh my goodness – that made me laugh out loud! I had to link you up on my blog so that my buddies could read about Miss Caroline’s wittiness (is that a word???) :-)

  55. 55

    Gotta see those earings!

  56. 56

Okay, I kid you not: I had a dream about you and Caroline last night. Somehow I knew you in real life and we were at a fair. C hadn’t won any prizes so I won a baby doll and bottle for her. You said “don’t you know it is too small for her?” and right about that time, C bit the head off the baby doll. I looked at you and said “Yeah, I do, but now she won’t talk about my earrings.”

    True. Story.

    And, weird.

  57. 57
    Ashlee says:

Those must have been some pretty bad earrings! LOL Cute prayer. I love it when they do stuff like that.

Out of the mouths of babes, those must have been some earrings! Too cute!

  61. 61
    Janet (aka JT) says:

At least she didn’t say, “And please, Jesus, don’t ever let her ask for bangs again.”

I mean, earrings are an easy fix. (And apparently, your bangs have her approval.)

  62. 62
    kelly says:

I think maybe it’s time to let Caroline start heading up fashion friday. :-)

  63. 63

  66. 66
    Elaine says:

So what did you do with the earrings?

I recently posted about prayer time too. It’s probably my favorite time of the day (or night…)

  67. 67

    *SNORT!!!*

  68. 68
    Kimberly says:

I totally adore that girl! LOL

  69. 69
    Quirky says:

Snort! Is it polite to laugh at the heartfelt prayers of another? Because I am.

Oh Lord, please give me sons…while I adore her antics, a daughter like Caroline would consider me a hopeless case. All the prayers in the world wouldn’t give me fashion sense and no one should be burdened by such disappointment so early in life.

  70. 70
    Betsy says:

    Laughing, laughing, laughing.

My three year old routinely prays for the little chinese mans who own the hibachi restaurant. we don’t go there that often… maybe two times since she has been ALIVE?!?!? I don’t know… it is hilarious.

  71. 71
    twinkle says:

Well, she is a fashionista…just go look at her silly socks!

  72. 72

just precious. I love her honestly about your earrings!!!!

  73. 73
    duchess says:

Too funny!!! So sounds like something my kids would come up with.

  74. 74
    Amy says:

She is the little fashion diva, isn’t she? Bless her for knowing when to confess the fashion faults of her mama! Coverin’ them in prayer. Last night I asked my son (4) if he wanted to help me unload the dishwasher (silverware is his forte). He looked up at me, down at the silverware, back up at me and said (in all seriousness and a sigh), “Well, mom, when I do that it just always makes me so tired.”
Well, honey, I feel for ya, I truly do!!
