Big Mama Blog

And so it’s Thursday

I honestly have been sitting here for an hour and almost didn’t post anything at all. Which probably would have been the best choice.

I’m just out of words right now and there just isn’t much going on here unless you count my trip to Academy today to buy P some new shirts for work. It was terribly exciting. I had to choose between three different shades of blue and even threw in a green one for good measure.

And then I went to the grocery store for the third time this week because I forgot to buy lettuce the first two times I was there.

I feel like I owe you an apology for the lameness of it all.

But I did want to share a few quick things:

1. If you are in the Houston area, I’m speaking at Second Baptist Church (the Woodway campus) on Thursday, May 1 at 7:00 p.m. You can find out more details here.

2. My friend Jen Fulwiler who has a blog called Conversion Diary has written a great memoir called Something Other Than God that comes out this Tuesday, April 29th. I honestly read it in a weekend and so many things about it have stuck with me, most importantly is that it’s such a great story of how God pursues us even when we think we’re not interested.

I’ll be talking more about it at some point, but I wanted to let you know that if you pre-order before Monday, April 28th, Jen is offering a free download of an ebook she wrote called The Family First Creative: 42 Tips for Following Your Dreams While Putting Your Family First. You can find out all the details here. And you can pre-order her book here on Amazon or here on Barnes and Noble.

3. Maybe you’ve already seen this, but it made me laugh.

It also makes me nostalgic for college days when you had that much free time on your hands.

Have a great Thursday.

While Navy’s version did start my day with a smile, this one made me crack up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTc_aTzjXHw

    Legit : )

Haha! That Frozen cover!! I had to watch ’til the end just to see if that guy in the backseat was going to join in. It was cracking me up that he was just hanging out the whole time his friends were performing!

Actully, Midshipmen have very little free time on their hands. But when they do… they find very creative ways to blow off steam!

Definitely agree – love watching their spirit spots during the football games. And if only those outside of Annapolis knew about their fierce croquet competition every year ;-)

OK the Navy baseball clip just made me spit my tea out and laugh out loud. Loved it!

Yep, the hubs sent me the video yesterday and I loved every minute of it. The mystery of it all was trying to figure out what the person in the back seat was going to do. I could clearly see his arm, then finally his face at the end :)

I’m pretty sure I’m ecstatic to see you next Thursday! It’s been TOO long! :) love you. Even when you think your post is lame. (which it is NOT) See you soon!

Thanks for the book recommendation! I’m currently obsessing over Found, by Micha Boyett. It’s a great book about finding prayer after and amongst life with littles…A dear friend recommended it to me, then I heard Micha speak this week, so I was sold–and my friend that recommended it to me just got handed the Antelope with instructions to enjoy!

That video was hilarious!! The passenger was so dedicated … loved him!

As a blogger, I totally understand your feeling of being without anything to say. I will ask myself, why on earth would anyone care about my life today, where my biggest problem is finding a spot to park at Walmart?. I just keep writing, and then once in a while I’ll hit a home run (well, maybe a single with an error that takes me to second base!).

i like how the boy in the hat looks at the camera and smiles

  14. 15

Um, I just called Second and bought my ticket for next Thursday. I’m super excited to come and hear you and meet you!

I’m also going to buy my mom a book (Antelope) for Mother’s Day. She bought me your first book for my birthday last year, but gave it to me after reading the whole thing herself first…like a strange form of regifting. Now it’s my turn. ;)

    Great video : )

Thank you for going ahead and writing even when you don’t feel like writing. It’s like visiting a good friend for a quick cup of coffee and just touching base with no big news to share but the fellowship of a few minutes together. This blogging community is a little haven of normal in a crazy world and you just never know what ministry happens when someone like you is willing to just share your life with us <3
    Bless you
