Big Boo Cast: Episode early morning version July 15, 2014 · Sophie and I recorded this at the crack of 8:45 a.m. yesterday morning. I was barely awake. Consider this my apology. Also, on a non-podcast related note, I’m on Focus on the Family again today. You can listen here. After the airdate passes, the program will be permanently found here AND here. Anyway, to listen to the podcast and hear what I sound like when I’m barely coherent, you can click here to listen. Or here. You can even listen right here. Or, as always, you can subscribe on iTunes. I read an interesting article about our over usage of cell phones. This article focused on restaurant service. A company looked at a restaurant who received high customer ratings in 2004, but in 2014 the ratings were significantly lower. After watching security video, they found that the restaurant serving time was directly affected by customer cell phone usage-from taking pictures of food to asking for wifi connection information to just playing games. This restaurant’s average customer time went from 1 hour to over 2 hours. People didn’t order as fast because of phone usage, they didn’t eat as fast, and they were slower to pay their bill than just 10 years prior. There were even more accidents due to texting and walking in the restaurant. Our society has changed so much!! I love the idea of cell phone free zones! We’ve lost the art of being fully present in our own lives!-as I type his on my smartphone!! Haha James July 15, 2014 at 4:49 am Just listened to the Focus on the Family, awesome, already downloaded the book, can’t wait to read it. Really hit home. Elizabeth http://www.allkindsofthingsblog.com Lisa Kirkes July 15, 2014 at 7:55 am I just finished listening to your interview on FotF. So wonderful and helpful. I especially appreciated when you remind us to remember our husband is our best friend and to treat him with the same love, understanding and grace we would one of our best girlfriends. What wise words for us today. I appreciate you, Melanie, and your sense of humor and inspiration to deeply love our Lord, family and friends. You’re a blessing to so many!
