Well I hope you all had a lovely Presidents/Valentine’s Day weekend and gathered around a tree covered in ornaments depicting all the various U.S. Presidents while singing Valentine’s Day carols with your friends and loved ones.
Of course now it’s already Wednesday so the weekend is kind of a distant memory at this point, but I know that it was a nice one around here. On Friday night, P and I went to dinner while Caroline was at a friend’s birthday party and then we spent Saturday just relaxing around the house, although we did run by Gulley’s for a little bit because it was Will’s birthday and we brought him his present. As luck would have it, I received a whole shipment of Guiness Book of World Records in the mail the day before and so I added those to his birthday gift because what eleven year old boy doesn’t enjoy learning gross things like that someone can lift 100 pounds with their eyeball?
Then Saturday night P cooked steaks for us and we sat outside and looked at the stars for a long time after dinner. I downloaded an app on my phone called Sky Guide and it shows you all the constellations you can find in the sky depending on your location and I was shocked to learn that my guess of “That’s the little dipper!” to all the different star configurations turned out to be highly inaccurate. And by shocked, I mean that it didn’t surprise me at all because I have also been known to mistake airplanes for falling stars.
On Sunday morning, P and Caroline left for her soccer game in Killeen at 6:45 a.m. This was the best Valentine’s Day gift I could have received – not having to go to Killeen at the crack of dawn. I spoke at church and then caught up on American Idol on the DVR while waiting for my people to get home. One of Caroline’s teammates ended up spending the night with us Sunday since Monday was a school holiday. I was fine with the sleepover until Caroline asked, “So where are we going to go? What are you taking us to do?”
Um. Nothing.
The sleepover is the entertainment. You’re welcome.
And now here we are in the middle of a new week. Honestly, there just isn’t much going on here unless you count driving to soccer practice, trying to write a book, and wishing that I had a chef who would just show up and cook dinner for us every night. Is that too much to ask?
Also, Sophie and I are really and truly going to find time to record a new podcast. I realize it’s been forever, but we just haven’t been able to do it between our schedules.
Anyway, I really just wanted to say hi. So hi.
Have a great Wednesday.
