I meant to write a quick post last night, but Caroline and I went to go see Priscilla Shirer and Anthony Evans on their Fervent Tour because it was in San Antonio. It was really good and you should totally go if they are coming to a city near you.
But, anyway, we got home late and I resorted to eating a handful of granola for dinner because I was starving but I hate to eat and then get in bed and that’s the end of this sad story.
Side note: We have become completely obsessed with the granola from Bird Bakery. This is not an advertisement, just fact. It’s so good because it’s sweet and a little bit salty which is the best combination ever.
So I thought about just waiting to do Fashion Friday because I normally don’t write blog posts at 9:20 on a Thursday morning. But here I am throwing caution to the wind and doing exactly that. There is no telling where this may lead.
Here are just a few quick things I wanted to share:
1. Speaking Events
I’m only doing a few speaking events this Spring because I am in the middle of a book deadline and any other free time I have is spent driving Caroline to soccer games and/or soccer practice. But here are the events I’m doing that are open to the public.
February 25 – Tell Your Story – Rudder Auditorium at Texas A&M
I was super excited to be asked to speak at this leadership forum for Aggies because, well, they are my people. It’s open to anyone though. Tickets are $5.00 and you can buy them at the door.
April 4 – Fiesta of Faith – First Presbyterian Church in San Antonio
April 12 – Bloom Women’s Event – Crossroads Baptist Church in The Woodlands, TX
2. Mix and Match Cookbooks
I’ve mentioned in the past that I’ve cooked some of Shay Shull’s recipes from her Mix and Match blog and now she has two cute little cookbooks out that make meal planning easier than ever. Well, unless you count the personal grocery shopper/chef option I wished for earlier in the week. These would make a great gift for a new bride or anyone who needs a little help in the kitchen with simple, easy recipes.
Mix and Match Meal Planner: Your Weekly Guide to Getting Dinner on the Table
Mix and Match Cakes: The Simple Secret to 101 Delicious, Wow-Worthy Cakes
And the first one is currently the number one book in the Tribal & Ethnic Religious Practices section on Amazon. Which just serves to confirm two things:
– Amazon is whacked out
– Maybe cooking dinner every night is a cult-like activity and should be viewed with suspicion
3. Happy Hour podcast
My friend Jamie Ivey has a great podcast and always has on really good guests. I thought you might like to listen while Sophie and I continue to be on a podcast hiatus. This past week Jamie interviewed Sally Lloyd-Jones, author of the Jesus Storybook Bible. You can listen here.
That’s it for this Thursday.
