This is actually Fashion Wednesday because I’m sitting on my couch writing it on a Wednesday night because I leave for Round Top in the morning and I don’t plan to bring my computer. Or I may bring my computer but don’t plan to have time to post an entire Fashion Friday. So, in a manner that doesn’t apply to anything else I do in my life, I have planned ahead and am writing it all early.
Also, I read the comments about doing a version for pre-teen/teen girls and I will totally do that next week. Although I’m not sure I have much to offer besides “Say a lot of prayers and then take them shopping”. I think the ages of 10 to 14 or so are the hardest because they don’t want to wear little girl stuff but don’t necessarily fit into junior sizes depending on whether or not they’ve hit puberty. (This is where Caroline would say, “MOOOM! Don’t say puberty!”)
Anyway, the first thing I want to show you this week is from The Ikat Elephant. It’s this tasseled mix print caftan coverup and I fell in love with it the minute I saw it.
How cute is that? I already have mine and it will be my official coverup all summer long. It’s nice and long (mine hits right at my knee) lightweight and so colorful and fun. Best of all, The Ikat Elephant has so many cute things in right now and you can use the code Bigmama10 at checkout to get 10% off your entire purchase through April 5.
As for other things I found this week:
When Gulley and I were shopping at Anthropologie with Jen last week (So many of you have asked about her and she is still in the hospital. I can’t think about it too much or I won’t be able to finish writing this.) she insisted we try on these AG Stevie jeans because she declared them her favorite ever. And she was so right. They are so soft and comfortable and fit so well.
They are on sale for $119.95 but additional 25% off with code XTRAXTRA at checkout and they come in several color options. I really like the light pink but they are sold out in almost every size. However, this neutral tan is a great second choice and I love the sapphire, too.
This is just a great necklace that would go with anything. It’s on sale for $29.95 with extra 25% off with code XTRAXTRA at checkout.
I bought this top at Anthropologie last week and I can already tell it’s going to be one of my favorite summer pieces. It is the perfect length and I love the tie detail. (I leave mine untied because the bow is a little to Jane Fonda in Nine to Five for me.)
It comes in pink, yellow, navy and gray
I’ve declared this to be the summer of the dress. And this one is perfect to throw on for dinner and just for running errands.
5. birkenstock arizona slide sandal
Y’all. I had an actual moment when I saw these online yesterday. They are Birkenstocks made out of a rubber-like material and they come in fun summer colors. Perfect for the pool, lake and beach this summer. And they’re only $34.95.
Yep. Straight up jogging pants. I really didn’t think I’d go here again, but I bought a pair of these and then ordered another pair. They are great for working out. Or not.
They are also great for sitting on the couch and running errands. Your call.
Between these and the Birkenstocks, it’s like I’ve traveled back to my 1988 self.
7. hercules scrappy metallic sandals
I love a gold scrappy sandal for summer time and these are both of those things. And they’re only $35. They also come in tan here
I can hardly resist a top called “boho girl”. This is so fun and summery.
9. old navy wide-legged linen pants
I just ordered myself a pair of these because they have rave reviews and I really want to be a linen pant kind of girl. I’m thinking the linen pants will offset the days I wear cropped jogging pants.
They come in white, light blue, black and something they’re calling “amalgam” that looks like a taupe/gray color.
10. madewell du jour tunic dress
I saw this dress in Madewell the other day and didn’t try it on and I’ve wondered about it ever since. How is it going to be the summer of the dress if I don’t make more of an effort to find cute dresses? This is what I’ve been asking myself.
That’s it for today.
Have a good Friday.
