I have got to go to bed earlier tonight because I’ve woken up both mornings this week vowing that tonight is the night I’ll make myself go to bed at a decent hour. And so tonight is that night.
But I wanted to share a few things first that a lot of you asked about. And share some things that you didn’t ask about but you might be interested to know.
1. A blueberry cart
Well, first let me say that I did not mean to throw so many of you off with the term “blueberry cart”. I had never heard that either but I swear that’s what the dealer told me it was. Although now that I’m home and in my right mind, it’s really more of a blueberry basket I think. Whatever the case, it was allegedly used to gather cartons of blueberries in the fields as they were picked. I was on the fence about it until Gulley pointed out that it had S 3 S on the end and then SOLD. Because get it? My last name starts with S and there are 3 people in our family. I’m such a sucker.
I’m still not entirely sure what I’m going to do with it, but I’m sure I’ll come up with something.
2. My earrings
Several of you asked about my earrings. They are by Nickel and Suede and I wear them constantly because they are made of leather and are so light.
You can find them here. And there are tons of other colors and styles to choose from.
3. My cross body bag
I have wanted a cross body bag forever but could never find one I loved or that felt comfortable until I discovered the Tirhas saddlebag from FashionABLE. It is the perfect size to fit everything I need but is the perfect thing to carry all day long when you want your hands to be free. You can find it here along with so many other gorgeous leather bags.
4. Clothing options for tweens (Or teens)
I have to be honest here. I have no idea why I told you I would do an entire post about clothing options for tweens and teens because the truth is I am the blind leading the blind. Caroline wears almost nothing but running shorts and t-shirts every day and I never know when we might stumble across something in a store that she will actually wear.
The thing about Caroline is she is still on the small side. She is getting taller, but can still fit into a 10-12 in the girls’ section. However, she doesn’t want most of that stuff because a lot of it looks to little girlish and no way does she want to have on the same top as a six year old. I’ve learned that we can find a lot of stuff in the juniors’ department at various stores and just look for extra smalls. This works especially well for tops because they can always be a little oversized.
As for shorts and pants, I can usually find stuff at Nordstrom Rack or Nordstrom. I also have some luck – although hit or miss – at places like TJ Maxx. And dresses? Well, she doesn’t wear dresses. And the good news is we really don’t live a life that requires her to wear dresses right now. But I have had luck at Nordstrom when she’s needed a dress.
Here’s the bottom line. It’s hard to beat Nordstrom. They have a great selection plus free shipping and returns. Oh, and sometimes we can find stuff at Zara or local boutiques. But the bulk of her wardrobe really comes from Academy or Dick’s Sporting Goods because running shorts and t-shirts. And the tank tops at Target are perfect to wear under anything that needs a little more coverage.
Here are a few things that might work for your teen/tween/self:
5. Books written by friends
I have two friends that have new books out this week that you might enjoy. They are both so good.
Unstuffed: Decluttering Your Home, Mind and Soul by Ruth Soukup
Looking for Lovely by Annie Downs
6. Jen update
So many of you have emailed to ask about Jen and I wanted to let you know she was able to go home from the hospital late Tuesday afternoon. Please continue to pray that her pain stays under control and that she can get some rest as she goes back to a little bit of normalcy.
Love you all so much.
Have a great Wednesday.
