I honestly didn't know that it was that big of a deal until our computer ate a worm this past spring. The neighbor was mortified that it ran so hot and that he had to re-boot and re-install everything with the case completely off because A FAN WAS OUT. "Didn't you know?!" Why yes, I did know that the alarm went off, but I didn't think that it was anything and I turned the sound off. He looked at me like I had a third eye. Apparently, that alarm was a big deal. I lost power at my house a few months back during a storm and even though my laptop had battery power I could not get on the internet b/c the wireless thingy had no juice,,,,,I was lost.
