As of 7:15 this morning, Spring Break is officially over. It’s back to the real world of a nutritious breakfast of Lucky Charms marshmallows, discussing the unfairness of life and how it relates to wearing leggings to school, and lovingly making a ham sandwich that will return to me almost entirely intact in a Cinderella lunchbox.
Oh, I l do love a routine.
I know there were some low points last week, specifically the day we resorted to taking pictures of the dog’s ear, but I’m actually a little sad it’s over.
The good news is that she and her daddy were able to finish off the week with another trip to the ranch.
The bad news for my washing machine and my formerly clean floors is that they share a love for finding new and improved ways to get muddy.
(The sound is a little off because Vimeo hates me right now.)
A Sunday Drive from Big Mama on Vimeo
I wonder if Merle Haggard’s mama made him wear leggings to school?

That is just the cutest thing ever… the song was perfect! Happy Monday
lol….all I could think of the whole time is…”oh no, he’s going to drop the camera or get it all wet!” Looks like some fun was definitley had!
Your daughter is just adorable.
How adorable!
That girl! There ain’t a man that’ll be able to tame her!
GO DADDY GO!
Fun, fun, fun!
Now that’s my kind of Sunday drive.
My day has officially started off on the right, if muddy, foot.
)
Now THAT is what we do for fun on Spring Break in Texas….Mexico who? Florida who? Galveston who?
Nothing better than the sound of a girl having fun with her Daddy! There is nothing fake about that laughter…
Ya’ll are certainly raising her right! Fantastic!!!!!
Oh. My. Word. If my husband did that I’m pretty sure I’d have to have a fit! I just about had a stroke just watching it. This from the woman who’s husband DOES tie a sled to the back of a tractor and drag the kids around the yard and down the street.
mama tried, I LOVE IT
This was just the perfect Monday morning post. Way to start our weeks off with a smile! Thanks!
“Discussing the unfairness of life and how it relates to wearing leggings to school”……how great is this phrase?!
Love this!!!!
being a North i’d never heard that song, what a funny mix !
Love the fact that you can see the gun in the bottom of the frame. All shreds of dignity that there once were are now lost in the oblivion! This is exactly what my hubby would have done!
what a pricless giggle!! sometimes doing simple, yet outlandish things are what make the best memories. what a fun, fun way to spend a sunday!
What a cute video! It looks like she had a total blast on the ranch. I’m glad y’all are back to a routine now
Oh my goodness! That was fabulous!! Great capyured momments with Daddy and the song choice was perfect!
Looks like fun!
I might or might not have said this before in a comment, but I bet P wouldnt trade her for a million boys. (Then again, WHO would want a million boys?…)
Anyways, I like the way she’s sporting those shades – like a true outdoors pro.
Oh, and I like the new blog layout. But you need some pictures!
My in-laws have a John Deere Gator, and the girls love nothing more than driving it through muddy fields. Woooohoooo!!!
Love the new format to the left.
What fun. The joy on her face is priceless.
I loved it! ! It was great fun! Thanks for sharing that will us! Now to face the rainy Alabama Spring Break. Woo hoo.
Oh, so very cute!
You just gotta love a post featuring Mighty Merle, mud and a gun…and a cute little girl having fun! It’s Spring Break in Texas, Ya’ll!
This just made me so happy that I actually shed a couple of tears.I love to see a little girl having fun with her daddy.I have two little girls and they sure do love their daddy. And when I was a little girl,my daddy did all kinds of fun stuff with me.(It always involved getting dirty!)One of the most important things in a little girls life is to have a close relationship with her dad.It affects so many areas of her life.God bless “P” for making the investment!
Oh thank you! There is nothing better than the squeals of delight from a little girl – AND we’re still a week away from spring break and on month 3 million of dreary Monday mornings. I desperately needed a pick-me-up. Have a great day!
It’s already been said before, but just love seeing a Daddy knowing how to have fun with a little girl! Not sure P. could have had a little boy that loved that as much as she did! Priceless!
That is so stinkin’ cute!! Really, Caroline is such a neat fun girl! I love hearing her talk! Thanks for sharing that with us!
That was a blast for her. I remember doing the same type thing on a 4 wheeler in the creeks when the water was low – mud flying everywhere. FUN!
Uh, city girl here. What was P driving? Looks like fun though. I’m so glad Caroline is willing to do that with her dad.
Oh, No! P did not start mudding until he was much older. Caroline has been introduced to it at such a young age, you will have many years of mud to deal with.
I just love her enthusiasm!
TOO Stinkin CUTE!
HOW.MUCH.FUN!!!
I cannot wait to show my Chris this evening. I am sure he will smile from ear to ear.
Is that a shotgun I see propped up between P and your daughter? She a girl after my own heart!
I just love the Caroline videos. I find her to be such an enigma, too. She’s such a girly girl into all the fashion advice, yet she loves to get wet and muddy and go hunting. I don’t think you’ll need to worry about her becoming well-rounded. Caroline rocks!
Major kudos to P for video taping, driving and not tipping.
I do like the moment where they hit a bump and the rifle against the dash showed. It made that song all the more perfect!
Happy Monday!
That laugh is so precious! We all need moments of such joy!
What great memories:) Her laugh is infectious!
Blessings today and every day,
Kaye
Matthew 21:22
I love it…and apparently my 15-month old son is a closet Merle Haggard fan! I started playing the video and he broke out dancing. I love the rifle next to P. Thanks for making me laugh out loud and remember my childhood days at my parent’s cabin.
That’s absolutely fantastic! I started laughing far too audibly for a Starbucks context when Merle started singing along…appropriately punctuated by Caroline’s joyous yelps. Awesome.
That is so sweet. I just love seeing the joy of kids like that.
Oh my goodness, that was the cutest thing ever! I LOVE how excited she was!!
Perfect song too lol
Oh, that is priceless! She is such a character, and P is obviously a gem for taking her on such great adventures. What a sweet family you have!
Oh! I love it! We have a Polaris Ranger too, but we have our “hicked” out with a homemade roof and aftermarket windshield. Oh, we are nothing if not classy!
My favorite part was the glimpses of the gun that we got to see. My dad always entertained us by shooting mud turtles in the pond.
At this point I am sure you can see the classiness oozing out!
PS: Merle would definately be proud!
THAT was great! I love her little voice…
I wanna do that!!!
I loved the song with it! You are so stinkin funny!
Awesome!
How fun!
Save this to show at her wedding rehersal one day! Too cute!
There’s something so special about the connection between fathers and daughters – at 20, my daughter still loves hanging with her dad – they’re into texting and sharing i-tunes these days. Caroline is a precious girl – love the wide open laugh – and P’s obviously a wonderful dad!
OK, my 10 yo boy wants to know, was that a jeep? Golf cart? And why did they do that?
I have a lot of work cut out for me.
It is easier to build boys then to mend men!
What wonderful memories your hubby is creating for Caroline! So fun!
Oh my goodness!!! TOTALLY worth the mud and mess!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!! We always “threaten” that we are moving to Texas(we are a LONG WAYS NORTH) and this makes me want to go NOW!!! And I love the shotgun riding along. So cool. Thanks for sharing.
Oh how funny! I’d love to by a fly on the wall to hear Caroline describing her spring break to her class!
Awww! This takes me back to my childhood and growing up on a ranch! She will cherish these memories always:)
Oh the memories that girl will have of the time she shared with her daddy! She is a blessed little lady!
Cute video
That’s just hilarious. She’s having SO much fun.
Nothing like guns (b/c I’m assuming that’s P’s gun barrel we caught a glimpse of), girls and mud to make spring break memories last.
Aaaaahhhhh, being an Arkansas gal myself, it does take me back.
That giggle is priceless! Such unbridled JOY! Caroline is a blessed little girl!
She’ll always remember these special times
with both her loving Dad and dear Mama.
Cherish these days of childhood; they end all too quickly. Our oldest (23 yr) is getting married in two weeks at the Naval Academy. Our Lindsay is so blessed to find a young man who loves her, family, the Lord, and his country. Her Dad modeled what she should look for in a husband! P is doing the same for Caroline. Thanks for sharing your life so openly, humorously, and honestly! You regularly put a smile on my lips and tears in my eyes!
My kids thought this looked like a blast!
-FringeGirl
How much fun was that? Loved the video.
I WANT A TURN!!!!
I thought that was SO sweet, she is adorable! What a fun Daddy she has! Awww too cute!
That.was.awesome.
Big Mamma I am 42 years old and I still like to mud ride…even though it has been years since I did…but my son will get there before long.
ummmm…was I being really observant and caught a glimpse of a shotgun or something hanging out of the vehicle??? not sure…anyway, that looked fun, & I cannot believe I am saying that—b/c I think I would have had a massive panic attack if that muddy water had gotten on my boots:)
Who knew P was so talented…driving, recording and holding a shotgun? You found yourself a keeper, honey! lol!
My husband is patiently waiting for the day my 15-month-old is ready to do just about the same thing!
I hope you realize you are setting really high standards for her future husband….she will expect laughter, love and adventure….good for her…
God Bless, Pam, South Bend
that is hilarious!!! love how excited she is!!! my 5 year old SON would be scared to death and crying!!!!
My Spring break is over too. I’m so sad.
My kids didn’t have it last week, but they sure ate Lucky Charms and I sure did yell at Oldest every time he brought me his uneaten sandwich.
And I forgot to say THANKS for helping us spread the word about Blogalicious 2009!!
HILARIOUS!!!!! Love it!
OK This is the best EVER!! I found you around “scarf season” and have had to watch that video every time I try to wear one. I love your sense of humor and your honesty. GREAT blog!! Keep up the good work, no matter how many Special Darks have to be sacrificed to the cause…
That was fanTAStic! Reminds me of my days as a kid (oh how the time has flown!) except that my sisters were always more adventurous than me
. Thanks for sharing! So funny!!
My children watched this with COMPLETE envy. If three little dark haired little people show up on your doorstep asking to go to the ranch could you shoot me an e-maill? (after sending them with P, of course!)
The music being off makes it better. She’s gonna make some man very happy some day.
Awesome. video. She must be a Daddy’s girl.
Okay…she is the cutest thing ever and THAT looks like so much funnnnnnnn!!!!
PS-I LOVE the song!
I am a 20 yr old college student who still makes her dad (doesn’t take much convincing though
….)take her riding on 4-wheelers when we visit family in East Texas…..may she cherish those moments with her daddy
Yes,yes,I know this post was written on the 16th and its now the 20th but I didn’t get to watch the video before. That is soo cute! She’s going to remember these days with her daddy for a long time!
Oh, I meant to have commented about my family’s “10 foot hole” on this post.
That thing was so fun. Only the people that live in the country would ever get the pleasure of riding through a “10 foot hole”.
Glad you had such a great spring break – love the video!!! So cute!
