I believe I can fly

March 30, 2009

Caroline and I took a little road trip to Houston this weekend to attend Vicki Courtney’s “You and Your Girl” event for the Allaccess blog

When we arrived at our hotel room on Friday afternoon, Caroline took in the grandeur of the Hyatt Summerfield Suites, sighed a deep, contented sigh, and said, “This place is like for ROYALTY!”

And that was even before she discovered that the double beds in our room were placed close enough for her to jump from bed to bed.

The whole weekend was an abundance of riches.

And I’ll tell you all about it tomorrow when I’m not so tired and can form coherent paragraphs and sentence structure.

I do the same thing whenever I first enter a hotel room.

2 everydayMOM March 30, 2009 at 7:03 am

Don’t you love it? That’s exactly what my kids do the minute we check in.

Cute dress on Caroline! Where is it from? I can’t wait for Spring around here.

Good mid-air action shots, Mama! Wow, to be able to jump around like that again and not feel pain all over for the next three days….

I totaly fell in love with hyatt summerfield suites like a year ago! You get so much for your money! I plan my trips only to towns that have them! Did you like it?

Great pics! What is it about hotels and kids? Mine do the same thing.

7 Kelley March 30, 2009 at 7:53 am

Oh! How I have fond memories of doing that myself as a kid. LOVE IT!

Yes, I too do the same thing in a hotel room. I’m 27. There, I’ve spilled my darkest secret.

…except that I take off the covers first. Girl, haven’t you seen enough 20/20 episodes to know that those things are FILTHY!!!!!! I’m not as bad as Kate Gossling, but still.

I cannot wait to meet her.

so fun! And I actually like the bedding, for a hotel room, it’s pretty cool. :)

All I gotta say is that Jennyhope, Lindsey, Shelly, Abby, and few 20 others better see this post. The queens of bed jumping at LPL events. :) Caroline can become an honorary member of the club!

Oh, yes. I’m jealous of that dress. We had an ice storm here over the weekend. We did not go anywhere. Caroline is just going to love these pictures when she is older.

I still remember doing that in every hotel room in Texas during my childhood! And if there was an indoor pool within clorine smelling distance? The hotel was deemed a castle!

My girl has that dress too!!! I love it and I need to put it on her soon since it is staying warm here! Can’t wait to hear more about it!!

I’m always thrilled to see pictures of the little hopper! I can’t wait to hear about the conference. Mocha with Linda was there – did y’all sit together?

I can’t believe I never saw you! I thought maybe you didn’t make it there after Vicki said your name from the platform looking for you and you didn’t stand up or wave.

Didn’t you love the skit? Those are our church kids. (Did you know Vicki and I are at the same church?) I was so proud of them.

My little boy once said he “should wear cufflinks to bed”. He was 6 and oh soooo very cute and easily impressed!

18 Tina March 30, 2009 at 11:24 am

WOW…she got some good height off that jump!!! How fun!!

19 Brenda B March 30, 2009 at 11:25 am

My boys always did this when we checked in to a hotel/motel room. Ha ha

That second picture makes me want to have that feeling… like bungee jumping but safer. :)

22 Brittany March 30, 2009 at 12:32 pm

I do this everytime I go to a hotel room. She has the right idea :)

23 angela March 30, 2009 at 12:52 pm

The bed spread is cute, especially for a hotel. Cute dress on Caroline and so fun to jump on a bed. I wish I could do that and not feel like jello.
Oh, and when you find the time, my little girl is having surgery on April 17th. Please pray for her (and me), she is almost 10 months old. Thanks

We travel and do children’s programs. Our life is Hotels!! It’s funny how everyone allows there children to jump on Hotel bed. My kids would be caught dead jumping on our beds at home, but A hotel. Mom says go for it!

25 Liz March 30, 2009 at 1:21 pm

Looks like the bed jumping would have been enough to keep Caroline happy all weekend! :) Love her dress- very cute!

Glad you had fun!

26 Sarah @ BecomingSarah.com March 30, 2009 at 1:44 pm

What fun! I remember doing the exact same thing (and thinking the same thing) when I was a kid =)

27 Dena March 30, 2009 at 1:53 pm

I took my college daughters and their friends for a short 3 days shopping trip over Spring Break. Even at that age, the thrill of diving from bed to bed was still very strong. LOL

28 Tracey March 30, 2009 at 1:54 pm

Me loves some bed jumping at hotels. Reminds me of my childhood!

29 Katrina @ Callapidder Days March 30, 2009 at 2:25 pm

There’s no jumping on beds in our house. Only at hotels. :)

She looks like she’s having a blast!

30 Amy Miller March 30, 2009 at 3:14 pm

Sounds fun! Where did Caroline’s dress come from?

31 Cydney March 30, 2009 at 3:32 pm

I am taking my son on his first road trip in April. We are going to the MS gulf coast which is 5 hours or so from us. I am anxious to see how he does and I am prepared for the 1,000 questions he will have on the way and while there.

32 Indiana Keetha March 30, 2009 at 4:31 pm

Caroline, you keep working on that flying deal ’cause I’m pretty sure I DID fly down the stairs when I was just a bit younger than you are now!!!

33 Christina March 31, 2009 at 1:01 am

I just sat and read a bunch of posts and laughed, laughed, laughed. I needed that! I know, that was your intention. Ha. Thanks! You have a way with words-”crack for nerds”…like I said, laughing, laughing, laughing. Although crack is no laughing matter…maybe I should be a little more sensitive.

34 Paula March 31, 2009 at 9:40 pm

You were at my church! WooHoo! So envious (that’s different than coveting, right?) of your dinner at Lupe’s with Beth! That rocks!
