Breakfast of champions who don’t mind a lot of sugar and fat

June 24, 2009

Ree brought some homemade cinnamon rolls to us for breakfast this morning and I’m pretty sure they’re the reason God made Oklahoma.

3 Jennifer H June 24, 2009 at 5:30 pm

Those are the best, I have made them a few times myself. Life is better with one of those on your plate.

4 Gena June 24, 2009 at 5:53 pm

God made Oklahoma just for the cinnamon rolls and cowboys. And country music. :) So jealous you’re there.

5 Rachelle June 24, 2009 at 6:32 pm

Well – if you get a chance, there is a little place in OKLAHOMA called Del Rancho! They have the best Chicken Fried Steak on the planet!

6 rae June 24, 2009 at 7:13 pm

Those look AWESOME!

7 Sasha June 24, 2009 at 7:22 pm

I’m so jealous I can hardly see straight. YOU and REE? I wish I was there… what a hoot you two must be having!

(Sorry about the sore bottom)

YOU and REE???

8 Dandy June 24, 2009 at 7:34 pm

Did you save me one?

9 Keyona June 24, 2009 at 7:43 pm

Oh. That was cruel. Horses and wide open spaces were bad enough, but to fling THAT picture in our faces? Not nice. At all.

12 k&c's mom June 24, 2009 at 8:04 pm

Anxious to hear more stories of the great time you are all having. Yum!

13 Halala Mama June 24, 2009 at 8:13 pm

Ahhh…I heard it was so hot down there today that you probably could bake cinnamon rolls on the sidewalk. Good luck!

14 Heather June 24, 2009 at 8:15 pm

Whoa, did you have a whole pan to yourself? How awesome!! It would have gone straight to my hips, I would have to been shoveling manure (SP?) to work it off on the farm, instead of riding those pretty horses. What a life you lead!! Fun times, I can’t wait to hear more!

15 Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality June 24, 2009 at 8:17 pm

If we didn’t already hate ya’ll, we totally do now. :) Homemade cinnamon rolls, oh.my.gosh.

16 Kelly June 24, 2009 at 8:19 pm

I would comment but I’m in a sugar coma from eating said rolls. Best thing ever – I’m pretty sure I might lick the pan.

17 Anne N. June 24, 2009 at 8:45 pm

I work ten hours on a John Deer tractor, just thinking of you all day…..

18 Sturgmom June 24, 2009 at 9:00 pm

I’m pretty sure they’re still missing you.

19 Robyn (3GirlsMom) June 24, 2009 at 9:08 pm

How many people were at the lodge? B/C according to my calculations, that’s a pan of cinnamon rolls FOR EACH OF YOU and one left over.

Which sounds about right, in my opinion…..

20 Kathy June 24, 2009 at 9:15 pm

YUM!!!!!

21 April June 24, 2009 at 9:25 pm

Ohhhhh. I’ve seen that recipe on her website. Must. Try. To. Bake. (when it is not ninety-eleven degrees outside)

22 Ashley June 24, 2009 at 9:26 pm

Yummy looking sweet rolls.

BTW- A Lonesome Dove AND a David Frizzell/Shelly West reference back to back? We need to be best friends. Yep.

23 Darla June 24, 2009 at 9:26 pm

I’m trying to decide if I’m more jealous that you hang with Beth Moore or Ree. I think it’s a tie.

24 biteofpunkinpie June 24, 2009 at 9:37 pm

so… here’s what i’m thinkin… my sucky, not-funny, uninspiring, no-hits blog results in me having NO cool fellow-blogger visitors coming to Oklahoma to visit me. what gives? i mean, just b/c pw won a few bloggies, just b/c she’s talented and creative and pretty and funny and an amazing cook… just b/c she has like a giant ranch with a giant guest house means that you go visit her and not me? sigh.

in the mean time, i give you:

Well I’ve never been to Spain
But I kind of like the music
Say the ladies are insane there
And they sure know how to use it
The don’t abuse it
Never gonna loose it
I can’t refuse it

Well, I’ve never been to England
But I kind of like the Beatles
So I headed for Las Vegas
Only made it out to Lido’s
Can you feel it
Must be weary
Oh so good… oh feel so good

Well I’ve never been to heaven
But I’ve been in Oklahoma
Well, they tell me I was born there
But I really don’t remember
In Oklahoma or Arizona
What does it matter
What does it matter

25 Carrie June 24, 2009 at 9:44 pm

that is SO funny, i texted my husband this morning about OUR breakfast of champions…popcorn, gummy snacks & coke @ the free movie. life just doesn’t get any better :)

xoxo,
carrie

26 Mama Belle June 24, 2009 at 9:49 pm

I would expect nothing less than homemade from her. Would have been funny if she would have popped open a can of Pillsbury rolls though.

27 Amanda @ Serenity Now June 24, 2009 at 9:51 pm

Well, that’s just not fair to post a picture like that!!!! ;)

28 Sharon June 24, 2009 at 9:53 pm

That’s it! I’m getting on google earth to locate the ranch. I live about an hour away…I’ll be right over. jk

29 Brittney June 24, 2009 at 10:24 pm

Uh. Yum.

The end.

30 Jobie June 24, 2009 at 10:31 pm

Looking at that photo makes me feel like I need to go take an Avandamet!! I’m envious you actually got to eat them! (I won’t say one cause I’m hoping you partook of more than one)! One day my diabetes will be in such control that I could eat, well, HALF of one!! One day …

31 Liz June 24, 2009 at 10:56 pm

YUM!! Can’t believe you and Sophie met Kelly and Harper!! Lucky you!!

32 Holly @ Crownlaiddown June 24, 2009 at 11:05 pm

HaHaHaHa! I love it!
Hope you are enjoying some waving wheat and that fresh, ranch air!
I bet you have gotten a good ab workout too, with all that laughter that must be going on. Tell Ree my friend Heather is coming through on their way to build a church in Canada. Her good friend in Canada helps Ree with her cookbook (pictures, I think). Small world.

33 Holly June 24, 2009 at 11:12 pm

Yum. Those look amazing. :D

34 Kathy June 24, 2009 at 11:14 pm

Man oh man. I’m really trying to be good and not go look up that recipe. She DOES have that recipe on her blog, right? Not that mine would taste anything like hers, but a girl can dream.

Oh, and now that you are trained in working cattle we could always use the help here. We are only 3 hours from SA. It’s usually just me and my husband and we always need more help. Just wanted to throw that out there….lol. ;)

35 Ann G June 25, 2009 at 12:15 am

OMG those look heavenly! Why oh why did I read through that recipe??? Now I want to bake cinnamon rolls and eat a LOT of them!! Of course, I don’t think they will be a good breakfast for someone who still has 60 pounds to lose! Oh well, maybe I’ll bake them and give 6 pans away…and only eat 1 pan of them…that should keep me from gaining all of my weight back, huh??

36 No. 17 Cherry Tree Lane June 25, 2009 at 12:21 am

I’m pretty sure that anything Ree makes would be amazing. You lucky duck!!!

37 Emilyc June 25, 2009 at 7:33 am

YUM!!!!

38 Cydney June 25, 2009 at 8:58 am

Um, Um, good.

39 Tiffany @ Paging Doctor Mommy June 25, 2009 at 10:42 am

Now I’m drooling.
