When I went to the doctor on Monday to see about my rash o’ death, he prescribed a four day treatment of oral prednisone, which is a steroid.
It didn’t occur to me at the time that I was heading into full blown PMS at any moment.
I’m literally experiencing PMS on steroids.
And it’s not pretty, my friends.
In fact, a few moments ago, I killed an entire plate of chocolate chip cookies all by myself.
They never saw it coming.
Anyway, things can only get better because at noon today I’m picking up Annie, Sophie and Amy Beth from the airport and we’re heading straight for some of the finest Mexican food San Antonio has to offer.
Then later, we’ll get to go hear Beth Moore and Travis Cottrell at the Alamodome.
And even later, I’ll attack another plate of chocolate chip cookies.
I can’t help myself.
It’s the hormones.
And the steroids.
Oh, and the chocolate.

Hope you feel better soon. Sounds like a fun day!

Beth (A Mom's Life) says:
I have taken very large doses of prednisone a couple of times my MS has flared up and it is not pretty…because in addition to the munchies it also causes bloating and swelling…especially in my face. Not a pretty look!
Enjoy your weekend! Chocolate chip cookies, Mexican food and Beth Moore - who could ask for more?

I now list those same steroids as something I’m allergic to on my medical records. The last time I took them I was so over the top emotional, much crying and anxiety…oooh, very ugly indeed.

I’m headed to S.A. from Austin in just a few hours, and I hope I get to see you at the conference/Siesta Fiesta! Can’t believe me and my Momma been waitin’ a whole year for this thang!! Woohoo!

“PMS on steroids” … That’s hysterical!
I’m guessing living through it isn’t so funny, but the cookies have got to be nice. So, hang in there, and thanks for laugh.

Don’t feel bad, you can feel better that you are eating them for me. I just got diagnosed with gestational diabetes on Wednesday, so anything that is good and has any kind of taste is out for me until this baby is born.

I’m thinking you and Amanda @ Baby Bangs might want to steer clear of each other until the hormonal cycles die down. Otherwise, I fear for San Antonio. A hormonal hurricane can make Fay look friendly.
(Have fun! Eat Mexican! Give Him some praise for this wonderful thing called the blogosphere where we make friends from all over the country we would never had had otherwise.)

You’re probably already aware of this since you were a drug rep, but just FYI….pred can cause insomnia. So…you may have plenty of time to eat and stomp your way through San Antonio.

GET! OUT!! I’m having an “It’s a small world after all” moment, freaking out more about your company than the fact you just man-handled a plate of chocolate chip cookies. Just yesterday I invited Amy Beth to meet for coffee, but she declined because she was headed to San Antonio, and I thought @ you, but didn’t connect the dots OR add one and one and get two, maybe I’m just a remedial student after all.
And Annie and Sophie coming to town? What fun :). It’s gonna be one whale of a good time, I KNOW this of which I speak. Throw Beth, Travis, Jesus (and some cookies) in the mix?
Yes ma’am…six shades of fun!

oh, child…the steroids they are vicious. I got a HORRIBLE. INDESCRIBABLE case of poison oak one summer and had to take 2 steriod injections and 2 dosepacks before I could clear it up. I felt like a lady-wrestler (and probably looked it too). BTW, I read over to your friend Amy Beth’s blog for the first time and I think I’d like to introduce her to my son.

PMS and steroids at the same time. That’s a nightmare I hope I never go through. Keep the supply of cookies around. Cookies are the anti-venom for both PMS and steroids. You’re on the right track!

Wasn’t Beth great? I didn’t get but 3 hours sleep last night. I was so excited to hear Beth teach again. Dh and kids went to spend the night on the USS Lexington. It was just Macie, my rat terrier, and me. ALL NIGHT she lightly growled at the closed bedroom door.
Mary, I have MS too. Last time I was on prednisone I WAS SO WEIRD! One memorable moment was when a fly landed on my arm and I started bawling. Just BAWLING hysterically. Sad.
Well ladies, I’m headed to the HEB…
