My trip to the Dominican Republic

On November 2-7, 2008, I traveled to the Dominican Republic with Compassion International. It was an incredible opportunity to see the difference Compassion is making in the lives of children all over the world. I saw what poverty looks like and I saw the difference that hope can make in the midst of even the darkest circumstances.

It broke my heart. It challenged me to do more. It made me realize all the things I take for granted, such as clean water straight from the tap.

Before I Left

For the least of these

People who will see me with bad hair

Now I just need to pack my bags

If I just breathe

And here I go

Some thoughts from 39,000 feet

In the Dominican Republic

Here in the American Republican

Hope in the midst of humidity

Dominican Republic Unplugged

El pollo bailar

The irony is that I’m eating Oreos right now

It’s a bird! It’s a plane!

A piece of mi corazon

Thoughts on Being Home

The post that should have gone up Friday night

Thoughts after three days and a lot of Mexican food

I’m worried about my delts (and I don’t mean a sorority)
