  • Big Boo Cast: Episode 272

In this episode I give an update on my hot roller situation and also share some shocking information re: Perry’s feelings for a widely beloved vegetable. Sophie is still not over it.

On top of that, you won’t be at all surprised to hear us discuss Jimbo Fisher’s apparent affection for the word “clown,” and Sophie offers some exciting June’s Journey news. Finally, it’s my turn for Five Favorites.

    Hope y’all enjoy!

  • Fashion Friday: Edition winter storm 2022

Well, we are in the midst of our second winter storm of 2022 here in Texas. This one is a little bit more serious than our first one because we actually have some ice, but it’s barely anything compared to what we went through in 2021. I’m old and grizzled now when it comes to winter storms.

The good news (or bad news if you’re married to me) is I had plenty of time to stay inside and shop online.

Here are some cute things I found this week:

    1. vuori daily legging

I’ve been meaning to try the vuori joggers forever but then I went on their website yesterday because they’re having a sale and saw these leggings and fell in love. The truth is I love a legging more than a jogger most of the time. Anyway, I hope we live happily ever after together.

These are on sale for $59 and new customers can get a code for an additional 15% off.

    2. pilcro cowl neck sweater

This sweater is so pretty and cozy and it’s now on sale for $69.95.

It comes in a bunch of color options.

    3. pilcro ruffled lace blouse

This top is a little shorter in length but would look so cute with higher waisted jeans. It’s also a great transition piece for spring and summer.

    It’s on sale for $69.95.

    4. lightweight field safari coat

I ordered this last week because I really wanted a new lighter weight jacket to just wear around with jeans and boots. It’s just as cute in person as it is in this picture.

It’s $48.99. It comes in several colors. I ordered a medium and am usually a 4-6 in tops.

    5. true to you purple floral blouse

I’m normally a marginal fan of anything in the purple family, but this top is so pretty and would look so great with white jeans. It’s $36.

    6. striped wide collar zip sweater

I love a striped sweater and this one is so great. I love the zip on the collar.

    It’s on sale for $68.50.

    7. oversized square sunglasses

I bought these sunglasses last August and they are still a favorite. They are super lightweight and have a whole 70’s feel that I love.

    They’re just $14.99.

    8. Zella cozy up polar fleece hoodie

Pretty much anything from Zella is good and this polar fleece is no exception. It’s the perfect warm layer for cold morning walks or soccer games.

It’s on sale for $48 and comes in other colors.

    9. new balance 327 sneakers

Am I going to feature a pair of sneakers every week now? Apparently yes because these New Balance are so cute. I love this retro style and they come in several color options if you look around on the New Balance site.

    They are $99.99.

    10. bauble bar layered Y necklace

I love a layered necklace look without the actual work of layering your necklaces. This one is perfection. It’s $58.

    That’s it for today.

Have a good Friday and stay warm.

  • Big Boo Cast: Episode 271

We recorded this episode waaaaaaay later than normal – like just a few hours ago – so I’m a little pressed for time in terms of an engaging description. :-) Let’s just go with this: skincare procedure thoughts, Sophie’s 8-wing is fully engaged in a situation at school, and I have watched some television.

    Please do enjoy.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition we are finally to the end of January

I don’t know about you but it feels like January has lasted 152 days. I’m ready for it to be on its way.

It just always feels like the longest month of the year and this year has been no exception.

Here are some cute things I found this week:

    1. hugs and kisses gold necklace

Love this delicate little x o necklace. It would make a great Valentine’s gift and is just $24.

    2. kork-ease tania clogs

These Kork-ease clogs look so good and Kork-ease shoes are usually really comfortable. These look a lot like the Free People clogs with the buckle but the price is better.

These are on sale for $69.98 and come in several colors.

    3. nike blazer low platform sneakers

Remember last week when I said maybe I have a sneaker addiction? I do.

The answer to these is yes. I love a platform sneaker more than all the other sneakers and these are selling out fast.

    They are $95.

    4. all I wanted floral lace dress

I’m so glad they brought this dress back this year. It is so pretty and such a great price at $66. It would be perfect if you have any spring/summer events.

    It comes in other colors.

    5. oversized brushed overcoat

This pink overcoat is such a great coat to transition to spring. Love the color so much and it has great reviews.

    It’s $79.99.

    6. kut from the kloth high waist skinny jeans

I really like a dark wash jean that isn’t completely black but more like a charcoal gray. And I love Kut from the Kloth. They are always so stretchy and comfortable.

These are on sale for $53.40.

    7. silky collar blouse

This is such a great blouse and so versatile for work or date night.

It’s $35.99 but extra 20% off at checkout and comes in several colors.

    8. flutter midi dress

This dress is so pretty and a great way to transition to spring. It comes in several color options but I love this pattern. I definitely think you’re going to want to belt it.

It’s on sale for $71.99 plus an extra 20% off at checkout.

    9. cozy oversized turtleneck sweater

If I needed another sweater, I would order this in a heartbeat. It’s a great color and just an overall great look.

It’s on sale for $44.99 plus an extra 20% off at checkout and comes in other colors.

    10. patchwork pattern cardigan

Be still my heart. This aztec patterned cardigan is perfection. I love everything about it. Does it look like something Beth Dutton would wear? ONE HUNDRED PERCENT.

    It’s $79.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Big Boo Cast: Episode 270

This week I share the details of my vampire facial (which is a sentence I never thought I would write). We also talk about our respective weekends, and Sophie shares what she feels is an exciting new career path that she’s discovered.

Sophie takes on 2020Boo and 2020Woo (I’m not exactly sure how to type those) on this episode, and it’s my turn for Five Favorites.

    Hope y’all enjoy!

  • Fashion Friday: Edition winter storm 2022

We had a big winter storm here yesterday. School was cancelled and everything. You know what happened?

It got down to 36 degrees and there were four drops of sleet.

Obviously it’s a wonder any of us made it through.

I realize that after the legitimate winter storm of 2021 that maybe we’re all a little afraid of the possibility of a real winter event, but DEAR TEXAS, REMEMBER THE ALAMO. We are better than this.

Anyway, here are some cute things I found this week with the disclaimer that this is my least favorite time of year to shop because what season are we shopping for? Late winter? Early spring? Summer? I don’t know.

    1. cozy karma asym sweatshirt dress

Athleta has 20% off site wide right now and so it’s a good time to load up on some new athleisure. I really love this sweatshirt dress. You could wear it with sneakers or boots. You could wear it with leggings or bare legs.

It comes in several colors and is $128 but 20% off site wide at Athleta until January 23 with no code needed. The length is 35 inches.

    2. coaster luxe sweatshirt

This is my beloved sweatshirt that Sophie told me about and Caroline bought me for Christmas. I am now about to own it in this fuchsia color because it’s $79 but 20% off site wide at Athleta until January 23.

    3. Leena cowboy boots

The western look is a whole trend right now and there are so many cute western-ish boots out there. I really like these and they are just $99.

    4. nike air max pre-day sneakers

The older I get the more I think I could have a whole collection of various sneakers that I just alternate depending on my mood and/or outfit of the day. I really love these.

They come in other colors, but I love this neutral. They are $130.

    5. striped button-front sweatshirt

I think this is cute as a button. Love the bright detail on the placket.

It’s on sale for $52. It also comes in a pink stripe.

    6. easy plaid blazer

I love a blazer and a plaid blazer is even better. I’d wear it exactly like this model is wearing it. Or you could add a graphic tee underneath.

    It’s $99.

    7. tiered plaid maxi dress

This is currently on sale for $105 and I don’t know that it’s an actual dress because it may be slightly sheer. But I do think it would look cute open over all white for spring.

    8. kut from the kloth Gidget denim shorts

Listen. My legs don’t want to think about shorts anymore than yours do. But I bought a version of these last year and they are so good and they sold out so fast. They have a little bit of stretch and a four inch inseam which is a kinder, gentler inseam if you’re over thirty-five.

    They are $59.

    9. penny pull on flare jeans

These are seriously some of my all time favorites. I bought them years ago and still love them. They fit like a dream and come in a ton of color options and are just $78.

    10. something sweet tunic

I realize this tunic is a little pricey, but it’s so cute and so versatile. You could totally wear it with the denim shorts or the penny flare jeans. It also comes in white.

    It’s $128.

    That’s all for today.

Have a good Friday and stay warm.
