  • Fashion Friday: Edition these boots are made for walkin’

    Y’all.

I was just sitting here with two Double Chocolate Milano cookies and all of a sudden one of them went missing. And then I came to the sad realization that it wasn’t actually missing, but I had just eaten both of them in a span of time that couldn’t have been any longer than two seconds.

    I think I have a problem.

(Wait! As soon as I typed all that out, I looked up and saw the second Milano sitting on the coffee table. I am so relieved to know that I’m not eating cookies unaware. I feel relieved. And vindicated.)

Earlier this week I mentioned that I’d gone boot shopping with my friend, Paige. What I didn’t mention was that Caroline managed to score herself a pair of boots while we were at Cavenders. We’d been talking about buying her some real cowboy boots for awhile because the little pink fake ones just weren’t cutting it anymore. And so she ended up with a pair of brown cowboy boots with a touch of pink and brown animal print. I’d be lying if I said I don’t covet them just a little bit.

As fate would have it, this past week has been Red Ribbon Week at her school and every day has been a different type of dress up day. Tuesday was Wear Your Favorite Shoes day and, naturally, she wanted to wear her new boots. I suggested she wear them with her skinny jeans tucked in so you could see the pink and brown animal print on her boots.

However, she was dubious of my suggestion and decided to try it all on to see how it looked. I’ll tell you how it looked, IT LOOKED DARLING. But she wanted to try them on with her bootcut jeans over them to see which look she liked best. I told her it looked cute either way, but I preferred the jeans tucked into the boots.

She looked right at me and said, “I’m going to go ask my Daddy what he thinks”.

So she ran outside to find P in the backyard and came back in and announced, “Daddy thinks the jeans look good over the boots. I’m wearing them like this.”

Yes. Why not take fashion advice from a man whose wardrobe consists of six Columbia fishing shirts in two different colors? Why would you listen to your mother? Your mother who writes about fashion ON THE INTERNET?

The Bible is so right. A prophet is not honored in his hometown.

The bulk of today’s post is all about cowboy boots because several of you wanted to know more about buying boots. But I did happen to find a few other cute things because I always do.

    1. Cowboy boots

Finding the right pair of boots takes time. That’s the first thing you need to know. Sometimes you have to kiss a few frogs to find your cowboy. I mean, to find your cowboy boots.

Finding your cowboy is a whole different kind of post.

Secondly, a good pair of boots should be viewed as an investment piece. Good boots are going to be a little pricey, but they will never go out of style and they just get better with age.

Kind of like cowboys. But, again, that’s a whole different post.

I would recommend that you go to a good western wear store in your area and try on several different kinds of boots to see what you like and what fits best. All boots are not created equal. But if you live in some horrid place that doesn’t sell any type of western wear, then you can always order online until you find the right pair. You just might want to find a site that offers free shipping and returns.

All that being said, here are some boots that I happen to adore. Honestly, I could wear my cowboy boots every single day. Except in the summer because that would be ridiculous. But, other than that, I could wear them all the time because they really are the most comfortable shoes I own and I can wear them with just about everything.

Let’s start with these Old Gringo Turquoise Diego boots.

And these Old Gringo Volcano Brass Bonnie boots.

While we’re focusing on Old Gringo boots, you should know that I also love these chocolate ones with embroidery and this pair with floral embroidery.

But there are plenty of other good boots to be had. Like these Corral boots with turquoise inlay or these Prairie boots with hot pink stitching. If you’re really feeling sassy, how about these Calamity Jane boots in red?

You can never go wrong with a pair of Lucchese boots.

Or you could always go with something simple like these Frye Carson Pull On boots.

And if you’re looking for a bargain-priced boot with some western flair, then you can’t go wrong with these Jessica Simpson Rosanna boots or these Roper Western boots or these Mia Western boots.

All I know is that if I’m ever invited to sing at the Grand Ol Opry, I’m buying these.

I probably don’t need to start saving up my money.

    2. Late Brunch dress

I like this because it falls in the category of dresses that can be worn with leggings or over a pair of jeans. Plus, for you fellow Aggies out there, doesn’t it kind of look maroon? I think it could totally pass as game day apparel.

    3. Plaid flannel ruffle shirt

It’s plaid. It’s flannel. It has a ruffle. What’s not to like?

    4. Eight sixty faux fur vest

I have long been intrigued by the fur vest. I think I can trace it back to my childhood and all the happiness I felt when my Me-Ma and Pa-Pa bought me my very first patchwork rabbit fur jacket. Oh it was something special.

There are many fur vests out there, but I thought this one was cute because it’s white and I could just picture it with jeans and cowboy boots.

    5. Military sweater coat

I adore this coat. And it doesn’t hurt that everything at Ann Taylor Loft is 30% off right now. EVERYTHING.

Which means you could use the money you save on that coat to buy this striped cowlneck sweater. That’s just basic economics.

And now I’m off to spend the day helping my friend, AJ, shop for a dress. Only one of us actually likes shopping and it’s not the person who needs a new dress. The last time we went shopping together ended with me yelling, “YOU HAVE TO WANT IT” as she struggled to pull a Banana Republic dress over her head.

    Pray for me.

Or maybe you should pray for her.

Y’all have a good Friday and a Halloween filled with all the non-lame candy.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition I can’t wear belts or headbands

I’ll just go ahead and tell you that I haven’t really shopped in weeks. Maybe even a month. First, I was derailed by the bronchitis episode and then I spent a week at home catching up on things I hadn’t done while I complained about my bronchitis the week before. And then this week just flew by with the road trip to Houston and the sleep I needed to catch up on and the T.V. I needed to watch.

Not to mention that I’ve unofficially placed myself on a spending freeze until I start Christmas shopping. There isn’t one thing I need right now. Except for maybe a few good long-sleeve t-shirts in solid colors but I can buy those DIRT CHEAP at Old Navy so that doesn’t really count as shopping as much as stocking up on necessities.

While Gulley and I were in Houston on Tuesday night (Did I mention we went to Houston? Am I ever going to quit talking about it and move on?) we spent a little bit of time checking out various outfits at Bible study. Clearly this was before the actual Bible study part began because we are deeply spiritual and would never let ourselves be distracted by a great pair of boots once we were immersed in the word of God.

But prior to that, we made note of several cute outfits and some darling boots. There were boots everywhere in spite of the fact that the temperature was well into the high 80’s. Which just goes to prove that Texas women are resilient. We are descended from hearty pioneer stock and certainly aren’t going to let the summer that will not die put a damper on our October spirit and our need to wear boots. Hot weather be danged.

Another big thing we noticed were the belts. There were several belts being worn with various sweaters and tunics. And Gulley and I launched into an extensive discussion of the belt and the pros and cons therein.

Which leads me to the first item on my list today.

    1. Nylon stretch belt

I really am a fan of the belt. I think it can take a shapeless tunic and give it some structure. It can take a sweater dress from drab to fab. It can add pop to the right outfit.

However, you will never see me in any sort of wide belt unless it is slung low across my hips or something because I suffer from a condition known as waist-impaired. It’s not that I don’t have a waist as much as it is that I am short-waisted and anything that cinches in at my true waist just doesn’t work for me.

I really can’t even talk about several painful years in the mid-90’s when I desperately wanted to own several dresses from Ann Taylor but couldn’t ever make them work because the waist hit me somewhere around my ribcage.

Wait. Does that mean I’m short-waisted or long-waisted?

I’m so confused. All I know is I haven’t worn a belt since the days of high waisted jeans and braided Brighton belts with shiny silver buckles shaped like an alligator.

But if you can make it work, then I think a good belt is a great thing to own. I also really like this Westchester pullback belt.

    2. Vintage floral headband

About a week ago, someone emailed me to ask if I thought women in their thirties were too old to wear headbands with flowers on them. My official answer is no.

In fact, I know several women who wear them and look absolutely darling. But, much like the belt, it’s not a look I can pull off. I’ve just never been a headband kind of girl even though I love them on other people.

Plus they make my ears hurt.

This crimson floral headband is super cute and makes me wish I was a floral headband girl.

But I think I’m more of a knit pom and splendor hat or a plaid newsboy cap kind of girl. Even though I don’t know that I’d wear either of those in reality. I just like the idea of them. The knit beanie is very Rachel Zoe.

    3. Felt ruffle coat

I know I featured a ruffled coat last week, but I saw this one and it is so inexpensive and just so adorable.

Or maybe I just like that girl’s bangs.

    4. Prospectress boot

    I love these.

    5. Yellow cable knit scarf

I love the fringe detail on this scarf and keep picturing it paired with a gray wool peacoat. Wouldn’t that be adorable?

    6. Gap leggings

I have officially decided that while you can’t beat the price of leggings at Old Navy, I far and away prefer the ones from Gap. Mainly because they are as soft as butter and feel like pajamas.

    7. Sequined tank top

What in the world? A sequined tank top? That is so fancy!

But it’s almost holiday season and there might be parties galore in your future. Or you may be like me and have no social calendar to speak of but what if something comes up and you end up wishing you had a sequined tank top to wear? It could totally happen.

Picture it paired with skinny black jeans and a black blazer or even a velvet blazer if you’re feeling extra fancy.

And then you could top it off with a spritz of J. Simp’s Fancy Nights perfume. And please pronounce that as FAYN-CEE.

(Also, did I just type J. Simp and leave it there? Am I twenty years old all of a sudden?)

(I think I got carried away with the sequined tank top.)

    8. Haylie bootie by Chinese Laundry

Listen. These are just a party in shoe form.

    9. Antique pocket watch necklace

I am loving long pendant necklaces right now and so I have spent much time on Etsy looking at all manner of them. And something about this pocket watch one just drew me in. I love the vintage feel of it.

    10. Applique jersey top

I was looking for something on the Old Navy site the other day and stumbled across this shirt which says it’s only available online. Which probably explains why I’ve never seen it even though Old Navy is one of my regular stops.

But it looks so cute, comes in several different colors, doesn’t have to be ironed and costs $15.00. That’s some kind of garment trifecta. Except that it’s four things instead of three. Which makes it what? A golden sombrero?

I’ll go with that. It’s a golden sombrero.

    Which means you can’t lose.

    Y’all have a great Friday.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition a little of this and that

This is where I usually like to tell some fashion-related story or just a regular story or basically any kind of little anecdote to lead into Fashion Friday. But I’ve spent most of the last week in some version of my pajamas and/or yoga pants and don’t really have much fashion-related insight to offer to anyone right now.

Except for this. If you spend a good amount of time in some version of your pajamas and/or yoga pants and your husband’s old Abercrombie shirts, it will significantly cut down on your dry-cleaning bill/laundry time. Of course you’ll look like you’ve given up on life, but that’s just an unfortunate side effect.

But I knew I had officially re-entered the land of the living when Caroline and I walked in Target yesterday afternoon to shop for assorted creepy decorations for our front yard and the first thing that caught my eye was a darling striped cardigan sweater. I made Caroline walk over with me so I could get a closer look at the quality workmanship and the price and, most importantly, if they still had my size and she said, “THIS DOESN’T LOOK LIKE A ZOMBIE. WHERE ARE THE ZOMBIES?”

And that was the end of my clothes’ shopping for the day.

Also, we didn’t find any zombies. I can’t say I’m too torn up about it.

(I originally uploaded more pictures, but my computer ate them and I have no idea where my computer’s digestive tract is located. So I give up.)

    1. Mossimo Waterfall cardigan sweater

This is the sweater I saw at Target and I think it’s adorable. And I certainly need one more loose, flowy sweater to add to my collection.

It comes in oatmeal and cream or black and gray. I’d be happy with either.

    2. Funky tunic

Oh my. I adore this. Just adore it.

    The end.

    3. Cable knit tunic

This is one of those looks that I think looks great in theory but can be hard to pull it off. But if you can pull it off, then I implore you to wear it. WEAR IT LIKE THE WIND.

    I love it.

    4. Autumn’s in the air dolman top

    5. Nick and Mo Molly French jacket

    6. Mossimo peep-toe bootie

I didn’t see these at Target, but I wish I had.

    7. Velour lounge pants

I do not even want to get into the discussion over the appropriateness of velour pants. No one says you have to wear the full velour suit. No one says you even have to wear them out of the house. But if you can make it through the entire winter without putting on some velour, then you’re a better person than me.

You’re also a less comfortable person than me.

    8. Ruffled wool-blend coat

    How cute is this?

    9. Asymmetrical pocket burnout top

This top looks so cute paired with a slim-fitting long sleeve tee under it. Paired with jeans, it’s the perfect casual fall/winter outfit. It’s the layering that makes it work.

    And the softness.

    And the cuteness.

    10. Button-up scarflette

I saw this and thought it was great because it’s so versatile. I like all the different ways it can be worn and I’ve always been a fan of keeping your neck warm.

    That’s it for today.

    Y’all have a great Friday.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition all about the leggings

If you are not a fan of the leggings, then today’s post is probably not for you. But if you have been known to enjoy a legging or if you’ve been on the fence about leggings, you may want to stick around for a few minutes while I share a few key leggings secrets.

    I know.

You’re on the edge of your seat.

The legging is a tricky proposition. And, honestly, it’s not for everyone. It’s all about finding the right proportions for your body type and the only real way to do that is to head to the mall and try some things on. And then bring them home and see if you still like the look after you put it together with things you already have in your closet.

But please pay for your items before you bring them home. Crime doesn’t pay.

Several people have emailed me and said they were having a hard time finding the right tunic or what have you to pair with leggings. So today I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Quit looking at shirts and tops and head to the dress section.

One of the best tunics I’ve ever owned was supposed to be a dress at Forever 21. But since I am not Forever 21, it works much better when I pair it with skinny jeans or leggings.

Anyway, most of the items I’m featuring today are all dresses. I don’t know in what world women get away with dresses this short, but I’m just glad I don’t live in it. Oh the pressure.

But it does make me think about last week when Caroline walked into my closet while I was putting on my Spanx and said, “Oh Mama! You wear bloomers under your dresses just like I do!”

Yes, bloomers that cut off Mama’s circulation if she wears them too long.

The point is to try on different things until you find something that works. Or you may decide that nothing works. And there’s no shame in that.

    1. Safe from the Cold sweater dress

I think a sweater dress paired with tights or legging and boots is so cute.

    2. Tuxedo Shirt dress

If I could only buy one thing on this list, this shirt would be it.

    3. Rustling Leaves tunic sweater dress

I like this one because it doesn’t cling to the body. It has a little bit of an a-line thing going on which might be more flattering.

    4. Lovers knot dress

I love this kind of thing paired with leggings with a denim jacket thrown on top.

    5. Oak cashmere blair button dress

I would probably wear this with tights instead of leggings but, either way, it’s adorable.

    6. Three quarter sleeve tee

I bought this shirt in black about a week ago. It was on sale for $9.99 and is the perfect length to wear with leggings. It will look great with a shorter jacket thrown on top of it when the weather cools off.

    7. Have a nice gray tunic

I think this is a great casual look. You could even throw a scarf on with it for a little extra flair.

    8. Getting in touch with nature dress

I love this one for the a-line shape. You could also layer a skinny long-sleeve t-shirt under it and pair it with leggings or skinny jeans.

    9. Ends in sequins dress

I adore this. It’s another piece that would be great with a skinny long-sleeve t-shirt under it with some brown leggings and cowboy boots.

    10. Shades of gray tunic dress

I would never wear this alone with leggings. It appears to be way too fitted. However, I do think it would look cute as a layering piece with skinny jeans and perhaps even leggings if you can pull it off.

    11. The more sweater the better cardigan

When the weather gets colder, I think something like this cardigan could look really cute with leggings and boots.

    12. Shape your future coat

And I also love a good coat paired with leggings. One of my favorite outfits last winter was a plaid coat that hit about mid-thigh with leggings and tall boots.

    13. Flourishing mums dress

This is something that would work for a dressier look.

I’d wear it over black leggings, belt it with a great black belt and wear it with a dressy little bootie.

    14. Blanket sweaters with layers

I love the way Piperlime has styled their models with blanket sweaters and tunics over leggings. The individual pieces are expensive, but it’s a look that could easily be replicated with less expensive pieces.

    And that’s it for today.

    Y’all have a great Friday.

I’ll be busy stocking up on cream cheese. Apparently it’s the ingredient of choice for appetizers.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition it’s all in the bag

I just finished watching the Aggies lose to Oklahoma State in the last two seconds of the game and I’m so worked up that I may never sleep again. And I don’t really want to write about fashion so much as I want to write about excessive turnovers and how it’s close to impossible to win football games when you continually give your opponents the ball. It’s times like these that P likes to give me a lecture about the foolishness of placing my happiness in the hands of a bunch of nineteen year olds.

    He makes an excellent point.

But my night was not a total loss because I found out a FASCINATING piece of news and now you’re going to have to follow me on a rabbit trail as I tell you about it.

Back in March 2009, I received an email from a reader named Melissa who lived in Austin at the time. The email explained that she was single and had just reconnected with a guy she knew in high school on Facebook. She was planning a trip out to California to meet up with him for an official first date and she wanted to know what I thought she should wear.

So I posted her question and responded to it on this now VERY SPECIAL EDITION of Fashion Friday back in March 2009. And many people wanted to know how the date turned out. I’m not sure I ever actually posted about it, but she emailed me and said it went fine but wasn’t sure if anything would become of the whole thing.

Fast forward to me watching the Aggie game on Thursday night. I was tweeting (twittering?) about the game to keep myself from throwing something across the room and Melissa responded to one of my tweets and said she wasn’t sure if I remembered her but she just got engaged to the guy she reconnected with on Facebook almost two years ago.

I twittered (tweeted?) back, “NO YOU DID NOT!” She emailed me a link to their wedding planning website which includes a picture of them on their first date and she looked beautiful.

So, basically, I don’t want to take ALL the credit because I’m sure her personality and what-have-you played a role in the whole engagement thing, but I’m pretty sure this happy ending is at least partly due to some stellar fashion advice.

Let me have my delusions, please. They are all that’s keeping me going in light of the Aggies losing in the last two seconds. TWO SECONDS.

Congratulations, Melissa! I am so happy for you.

Okay, so on a fashion note. This week has been the scene of a fall purse crisis at my house. I have been in desperate need of a new handbag because the handle on the one I carried all last year is shot to pieces. And so I have scoured various websites and stores looking for the perfect bag.

Then late last week I discovered that ebags was offering 20% off all their Big Buddha bags. I agonized over which one I should order and ultimately decided on the Miranda bag in black. But by the time I made up my mind, it was completely sold out. So I ordered it in red instead.

But it was an impulse decision and I could hardly sleep that night for worrying about whether or not I really wanted a shiny, red purse. The next morning I tried to cancel my order, but it was too late. However, the 20% off sale ended that day and so I went ahead and ordered the gray Miranda bag as well. Ebags offers free returns and I figured I could look at them both in person and make my decision.

They both arrived on Tuesday. I opened up the boxes and thought they were both pretty, but was struck by the fact that the gray wasn’t so much a gray as it was more of a brown color. And the red was very bright and made me feel a little bit like HERE I AM WITH MY ENORMOUS SHINY RED PURSE.

Naturally, Caroline thought the red was the clear winner. I held them both up and asked P which one he liked. He responded, “I didn’t realize my Grandmother Tatum’s purse was back in style”.

Which wasn’t really the look I was going for.

So I shipped them BOTH back. Not just because of P’s comment but because I really wanted the gray purse to be gray as opposed to brown and the red was just too much.

And so I’ve spent the last few days looking at every handbag known to man. Or woman. I’ve debated the merits of black vs. green vs. brown vs. gray.

Then yesterday I walked into a local boutique and ended up with a shiny black patent bag with gold hardware. I’d show it to you but I can’t find it on the internet and I’m too lazy to get up and take a picture. But here are several other great bags I’ve seen over the last few days.

(By the way, I’m not adding in any commentary because I believe I have written more than enough for one day.)

    1. Champs-Elysees Bag

    2. Big Buddha Empire Bag

The Empire bag also comes in green

    3. Fossil Vintage Reissue Satchel

    4. Miley Hobo

    5. Diviney Bag

    6. Fossil Patchwork Hobo

    7. Gathered Frame Satchel

    8. Steve Madden BWarrior Tote

    9. Magid Christiana Tote

    10. Big Buddha Hollywood Bag

    That’s it for this week.

I hope none of your favorite teams lose their games in the last two seconds this weekend and feel free to let me know if you’d like to get married and need to know what to wear on a first date.

    Y’all have a great Friday.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition memories light the corners of my mind

Yesterday morning there was nothing I wanted to do less than my Couch to 5K workout. Nothing. Face a pack of angry badgers? FINE. Walk/run three miles around my neighborhood in 205% humidity? NO THANK YOU.

But I did it anyway because, ALL TOGETHER NOW, if I let myself have even a tiny break it will turn into a five year running sabbatical.

After I dragged myself around the block a few times and made it home, I cooled down for a minute and then jumped in the shower because I had to run up to Caroline’s school for the Book Fair. I took the time to blow dry my hair AND roll it in hot rollers. Then I realized I was completely out of hairspray.

I stepped outside and before I’d even finished locking the back door my hair was as flat as a pancake. Any volume or curl was a distant memory. I had hot-rolled in vain. IN VAIN.

So after I left the book fair, I headed straight to Ulta to purchase new hairspray. After spending much time debating the merits of different sprays, I decided to take the plunge and buy a can of L’Oreal Elnett Satin. I’ve wanted to try it for the last year but the $14.99 price tag had held me back. It seemed pricey for an unknown hairspray.

But in their magazine ads it was touted as the brand STYLISTS ALL OVER THE WORLD have used for years even though it hasn’t been available in the United States until the last year or so. Allegedly, U.S. hair stylists used to stock up on cans of it while overseas and bring it back to the United States.

(This must have been prior to the days of the no liquids over 3 ounces rule took effect. Surely the L’Oreal marketing people wouldn’t exaggerate for effect.)

So now I’m the proud owner of the hairspray BELOVED by the world. Conveniently, it really was $14.99 which is my preferred price point to throw out to P when he asks how much something cost.

Anyway, my hair was beyond salvaging by the time I made it home with my WORLD-FAMOUS hair spray, but I sprayed a little bit on my hair just to get a gauge of the aerosol coverage and smell. And I’ll be danged if the smell didn’t immediately transport me back to my Me-Ma’s pink tiled bathroom and the years between 1971 and 1992. L’Oreal Elnett is one of the smells of my childhood and I had no idea.

Now I just need to figure out how my Me-Ma was getting cans of L’Oreal Elnett all the way to Beaumont, Texas when world famous stylists had to smuggle it back to the U.S. in their suitcases. I mean Me-Ma never even drove a car, much less jetted off to Paris to secure some hair product. It’s a mystery I will continue to ponder.

I will also continue to use the hairspray because the smell makes me happy. And I’ll be honest, it doesn’t smell very good. It smells a little like the ozone is melting around me.

    And now for some fashion.

    1. Wanigan Coat

I am so drawn to plaid coats. And I own at least two of them.

But then I see one like this one and think that it’s so adorable and would love to live in my closet.

    2. Jacket with Front Ruffle

See? I have a thing for jackets.

    3. Cecil Chunky Cowl Scarf

Last year I found a little scarflette thing on Etsy that I wanted to carry around in my pocket because of all the precious. Now, I’m slightly in love with the cowl neck scarf thing with the little flower. It looks so cozy.

And I’m not even sure what I’d wear it with, but I bet I could find something.

    4. Hooded Cargo Jacket

The majority of the time I just show y’all stuff that I really like but have no intention of actually buying. Not that I don’t want to, but because I have to save my money for $14.99 bottles of hairspray and Pretzel M&Ms.

However, I’m actually going to buy this jacket. It’s the perfect casual thing to throw on with jeans while running errands or going to school events or buying hairspray.

    5. Ultrasoft V-Neck Sweater

I feel the same way about this sweater. It comes in a bunch of different colors, it’s soft, and I can throw it on with jeans or a skirt. And it’s on sale.

    6. Argyle Flannel Pajamas

I don’t know why I’m featuring flannel pajamas when it’s still hotter than the sun here. I’d just like to believe that someone, somewhere might need a pair of flannel pajamas to ward off the chill.

    7. Shades of Carnelian Necklace

Another Etsy find. I love the colors in this. It would look so great with browns or greens or denim. Perfect for fall.

    8..Mossimo Black: Studded Tote

I saw this bag at Target the other day and was so tempted to buy it and then I didn’t and now I can’t remember why. It comes in red, black, brown and maybe silver but I can’t remember for sure.

I just know that it’s seriously cute and a great deal.

    9. Kamik Janis Rain Boots

About two week ago it was pouring down rain one morning and I got on the internet with a mind to get serious about making a rainboot purchase. I talked about it all winter long last year and never actually ended up with any rainboots, but with some seriously wet feet every time I had to pick Caroline up from school since San Antonio turned into Seattle for much of last winter.

But then I fell in love with these and showed them to P and he said we’re in a La Nina cycle or an El Nino cycle or some kind of cycle that supposedly means it’s going to be a warm, dry winter and so I decided to wait on the rainboots.

And it’s rained almost every day since.

Thus ends my tale of woe.

    10. Made to Measure Skirt

I have nowhere to wear this skirt. But if I had a job that required me to get out of my yoga pants, I would totally buy this skirt and I’d wear it with a velvet blazer and some great boots and I would reminisce about how much I loved the store Harold’s back in the early 90’s and how this outfit seems very Harold’s-like.

And how maybe I was wearing an outfit very similar to this the last time I smelled L’Oreal Elnett hairspray in my Me-Ma’s pink-tiled bathroom.

    Y’all have a great Friday.
