It is now officially just one week out from the release of Church of the Small Things, which means I am doing a lot of deep breathing and hiding out in my house. I’ve had October 3, 2017 circled on my calendar and by that I mean that I’ve had it marked on my iPhone calendar for almost two years so it’s a little surreal that it’s almost actually here. I guess part of me thought maybe Jesus might come back before I had to live through another book release.
The truth is I’m excited about the book and about the message that small things matter. And so I thought it is fitting to have today’s excerpt read by none other than Gulley. The thing about Gulley that I don’t think you know unless you know her in real life is that she teaches preschool.
Every day Gulley teaches three-year-olds how to stand in line and wash their hands and share their toys and not throw sand and to make it to the bathroom in time. This is my version of hell. But she does it with so much love and dedication and every time one of her little tiny students sees her around town it is like they have seen a rock star. They can barely contain their excitement. Seeing the way she loves her students and the way they love her is proof that the biggest difference we make while we walk this earth can usually be found in the smallest acts of faithfulness.
Her other ministry is that she makes me laugh every single day.
If you haven’t ordered it already, you might as well go ahead and order now because you only have to wait a week to get your book. Plus, you can still get all the free stuff for pre-ordering here. (If you have pre-ordered and never got your link with all the stuff, please email me with your order number and let me know!)
There are still signed copies available for pre-order at Barnes & Noble with exclusive bonus content and a bullet journal in the back. You can order one here.
And you can find it on Amazon here.
And you can find the book trailer and all other buying options here.
Love this! Made me laugh out loud! Can’t wait to read it! ?
Too funny! And I see can why Gulley is your best friend. She’s lovely!
Oh gosh, I am laughing out loud at this! Thank you for the excerpt! I cannot wait to get my copy of the entire book next week! <3
Oh autocorrect, my nemesis and constant source of both hilarity and humiliation!!
Loved the book! Was actually able to purchase off the shelf from my local Barnes and Noble several weeks ago. Your message is so relatable and timely 🙂
LOVED the free excerpt I read! Can hardly wait for the whole book! Come on next Tuesday!!!
I am crying happy and proud tears this morning! What a precious, remarkable feeling it is…. watching the two of you excel in your professions. Two different directions…. two precious girls…. making a huge difference in this world. When I count my blessings…. I count you!
AUUUUGGGHHHH! I CANNOT wait to get my copy!!! 🙂
I love Gully’s hair!
Love seeing this. Hi Amy!!! Great job! Y’all are so precious. Can’t wait to get my copy.
I’m sure many wonderful women will be reading your book on Thanksgiving, in their sporty thongs!
Love it! After my husband’s recent surgery, I was updating on facebook that he had finally turned the corner to good health, after a minor setback. However, his brother alerted him (He isn’t on facebook) that I instead, told our friends and family, he was “doing great and back on the men”. Have mercy.
Hilarious!!
Church of The Small Things Is perfection!! Both of my boys are in college and I am still plagued with…did I do enough! But when they call you when the BIG things are happening in their life…you KNOW the Small things mattered. Love your blog, podcasts and your heart. Thank you for saying yes to how God wanted you to share your life, humor and love of college football with us.
I am new to your blog and books Melanie! Have loved getting to know you for….a couple of weeks:) Can’t wait to receive my book!!
Gulley is, as Sophie’s Martha would say, Darlin’, Darlin Plus!
Early on in my life with technology, the auto correct on my e mail program always changed Baylor to Babylon…
Everybody needs a Gulley BFF
How fun to hear Gulley’s voice! I know she is a great preschool teacher. (And I love her hair.)
Also, I remember when you told us we had to wait like 17 months for the book to come out. I was thinking that seemed like a sweet forever. So hard to believe it is here! Time really does fly. I cannot wait to get my two signed copies – one for me and one for my 35 year old daughter. We both love you!
