  • Fashion Friday: Edition I think I’m tired of looking at clothes

I never thought I’d say I’m sicking of looking at clothes online, but I think I’ve reached that point.

Actually that’s not true. I still enjoyed picking out stuff for Fashion Friday today because of all the freedom to not adhere to any particular color combinations. Plus it’s time to really think about fall clothes which are my favorite clothes of the year.

Here are a few things I found this week:

    1. gap fit breathe long sleeve hoodie

    cn6745489

I was in Gap earlier this week and thrilled to see that they’re selling this hoodie again this year. It’s lightweight, super soft, a great length and works by itself or paired under a puffer vest.

Plus they have it in green, plum, and a soft black. I want every color. Give me this and a pair of yoga pants and you have my everyday winter uniform.

    2. old navy crinkle chiffon skirt

    cn8068642

These are really cute and are getting great reviews. They come in several colors and are on sale for $20. Such a perfect thing to throw on with a denim jacket and a pair of boots.

    3. lake drive poncho

    4114339210516_006_b

I have always loved a poncho. And one with gray stripes? Even better.

    4. all night blogathon top

    e7e24ff289cbe80beeefa4c148f4eafa

I think this would be so cute just by itself with a pair of jeans and some Converse or with a scarf and boots to dress it up a little bit.

    5. inclined to explore boots

    730a3b9afc68127c59da0c639356e785

Several years ago, Anthropologie had a pair of boots very similar to these that were something like $350 and I loved them so much but couldn’t justify buying them. That’s why I was so excited to see these. They look great and are only $79.00.

    6. gap fur trim puffer vest

    cn8687393

I was happy to see that Gap has brought back the puffer vest with fur-trimmed hood. I dilly-dallied around last year and never bought one and then they were sold out when I finally decided I had to have it. Now I just have to figure out what color I want.

It comes in navy, black, red and white. Truthfully, I kind of want one of each but that would be absurd.

    7. camo buttoned field jacket

    imageService

I know not everyone loves camo like I do, but I think it can be so cute paired with the right outfit. You could wear this over all black with brown boots. Or over a white tee with jeans.

    8. justin cowboy boots

    1978618-p-MULTIVIEW

In case you’re in search of a good pair of cowboy boots, I’m a fan of these.

    9. oversized sheer knit cardigan

    _8612353

This is a great lightweight cardigan thing to throw on over a simple tank or t-shirt in the fall when it’s still fairly warm. This comes in a bunch of great colors and is a great price.

    10. buffalo plaid shirt

    cn8566755

I believe I mentioned last week that I’m a fan of a buffalo plaid shirt. I particularly love the red and black combo and not just because it’s reminiscent of the guy on the Brawny paper towels. I can totally picture this under that white puffer vest from Gap with jeans and boots. Perfect winter outfit.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a great Friday.

  • Gameday Fashion: Red, black and white (and houndstooth)

Okay. Let me start with a few things.

    1. I hope you have enjoyed this series of gameday fashion posts because I will never do it again. I seriously underestimated how much time it would take.

    2. For those of you who asked, of course it is still absolutely appropriate to wear shorts or jeans with a simple t-shirt that reads “Texas A&M Football” or whatever represents your particular school. This is just for anyone who may want to take it up a notch. Back in my day I wore maroon wind shorts with “AGGIES” plastered across the bottom and was just as proud. Clearly I’m not in a position to judge anyone’s choice of football game attire.

    3. I’ve saved red for last because it is fraught, FRAUGHT, with controversy. I thought orange was dicey, but red opens up Pandora’s box. There is Georgia red and Arkansas red and Oklahoma red and Mississippi red and the precious folks in Alabama who insist that they are crimson. Whatever. All I know is when I went to the Aggies game against Alabama last year it definitely looked red to me.

However, I have included some houndstooth items at the bottom to make up for my lack of discernment between what constitutes red and crimson. God bless Bear Bryant.

Also, I apologize to any red schools that I have failed to mention. I’m sure there are many. If it makes you feel any better, I totally neglected to list TCU among purple schools yesterday and it’s in my home state.

***EDITED TO ADD: Oh my word. I forgot Texas Tech. Dear Kliff, please forgive me. I still think you’re the cutest even though you left us.

  • Gameday Fashion: Edition gold, green, purple

Because I am apparently now obsessed with finding all manner of color appropriate game day attire, I continue today with gold, green and purple. As far as I know this covers the Oregon Ducks, Baylor Bears, LSU Tigers and Washington Huskies.

I’m sure there are more but those are the ones I know. I have also divided this into gold, green, and purple categories for your convenience. But what if you happen to be a Michigan fan? Or a Florida State Seminole? Then you can look at the gold featured here and look at last week’s post that feature navy and garnet (or as I call it, maroon) to assist you in your game day wear.

Thank you for your cooperation. And thanks in advance for understanding that I am only one woman trying to compile all this information. I should have been a consultant for Garanimals back in the 70’s.

  • The weekend of the day of labor

I hope everyone had a lovely Labor Day.

We absolutely did. It’s nice to have a long weekend after the first week of school to completely undo any type of routine we had managed to establish by the end of last week.

And now it’s September. Which means we have about twenty days left of brutally hot heat until we settle into more fall-like temperatures in the low 90’s and I break out my boots.

Our weekend was filled with a whole lot of nothing. On Friday afternoon Gulley stopped by and we caught up for a while until it was time for her to go pick up Will from a birthday party. And then we picked up Mexican food for dinner because we couldn’t muster the strength or the energy to actually go sit in a restaurant, plus P’s back is still on the mend and so he still needs the occasional ice pack. And it’s been so hot that I’ve considered commandeering an ice pack for myself.

On Saturday morning P left for the ranch early to get some work done and Caroline and I stayed in our pajamas until way past a socially acceptable time. She read a book and I watched College Gameday followed by every single football game I could find. And I may have also watched a few or fifty highlight videos of the Aggies win over South Carolina on Thursday night. It was just what we needed after a busy week and not enough sleep.

I also decided I needed to clean the house because all the bathroom construction is driving me crazy and making me feel unorganized. Well, that and the fact that I’m under a book deadline and love to find other things to do besides, you know, write a book. I scrubbed our shower and reorganized our medicine cabinets and threw out some makeup and hair products that had seen better days.

Later that night we met Mimi and Bops and my sister and her family for Italian food and then I stayed up way too late watching Les Miles work his LSU voodoo over Wisconsin. I texted Gulley when LSU went ahead in the fourth quarter and said, “This is why I’m going to be popping Tums like crazy on Thanksgiving night.” You can’t ever count Les Miles out. He’s kind of like Lord Voldemort in a purple windbreaker.

Caroline spent Sunday with a friend and so I decided to use this time to tear out the rest of the wallpaper in her bathroom. We’ve decided to use the existing shiplap walls, but there was a layer of old wallpaper on top of them that needed to be torn off. And it wasn’t so much the wallpaper that did me in as it is the muslin that they nailed to the wall underneath the wallpaper that leaves all these little, tiny strings that need to be cut off. It’s the most monotonous task you can imagine other than reading this blog post.

But I managed to get it done and felt levels of accomplishment that weren’t really warranted for such a thing. And then we picked up more Mexican food for dinner Sunday night because why not? It’s a holiday weekend.

And then we spent Labor Day running a few errands before we met Gulley and her family at the pool for one last summer hurrah. I managed to take a picture of all three kids jumping off the diving board one last time. Only Will was thrilled with this because he’s the only one not in junior high.

    Image-1

Goodbye, summer. You’ve been a good one.

  • Big Boo Cast: Episode it’s college football time

    Well.

All I can say is I hope you enjoy hearing about college football because we talk about it a lot.

But, never fear, there is also a discussion on mascara, various other makeup products and the progress on my bathroom renovation.

In other words, all the same nonsense you have come to expect.

You can click here to listen. Or here. You can even listen right here.

Or, as always, you can subscribe on iTunes.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition we went to South Carolina and all we got was a HUGE WIN

    I’m a happy girl.

You know who wasn’t surprised by what happened in South Carolina last night? Kevin Sumlin.

And I’ll resume posting some gameday clothing options next week, but figured I would stick to a regular Fashion Friday today. Those gameday posts take a long time to put together and I have a lot of football game highlights to rewatch and message boards to read.

Here are some things I’ve found this week:

    1. dolce vita myste boot

    _9353016

These also come in brown and I really like them. Love how tall they are and that heel. They’re on sale for $95.96 right now which is a great price for a good pair of boots.

    2. chuck taylor all star sneaker

    _8495539

How cute are these with the eyelet look? Love them. They’re on sale for $36.

    3. dv footwear fisher bootie

    _8928891

Love these and so must a lot of people because they’re only left in sizes 6, 8.5, and 9.5. They’re on sale for $93.76.

    4. frye jackie button boots

    _6712972

Several of you asked about the boots I was wearing in the picture I posted of P and I a few weeks ago. These are them. They are pricey but worth every penny. I love them so much and they just get better with age.

    5. free people drapey linen blend jacket

    _9017200

I really like this as a light layer for fall. It’s on sale for $88.80 which is such a random price.

    6. fringed double chevron necklace

    _9034414

I ordered this a few weeks ago and have worn it so many times already. It’s such a great piece to throw on with anything. And it’s only $18.00.

    7. old navy quilted zip front vest

    cn8160471

Love these vests and they’re on sale for $34.

    8. old navy plaid flannel boyfriend shirts

    cn8672336

A shirt like this is perfect to throw on with jeans and boots with one of those quilted vest over it. It’s on sale for just $19.

    9. visionary backpleat cardigan

    4113318690123_010_b

I really like this. It’s on sale right now at Anthropologie and they’re currently offering an additional 20% off all sale items.

    10. reversible leather tote

    _9462312

I really want some sort of tote and I love this one because it’s reversible. This one is gold and then cognac on the inside, but it comes in several color options. So fun and versatile and only $48.

    That’s it for today.

Hope everyone has a fabulous Labor Day weekend.

    Gig’em.
