  • Fashion Friday: Edition does Spring Break give everyone PTSD?

I have known in my head that it was about to be March. And here we are. It’s March.

We are also on Spring Break this coming week which is all fine and good except it brings back memories of last year when we went on Spring Break and we never went back to school and the world hasn’t been the same since. Needless to say, this is me looking at Spring Break.

    via GIPHY

Here are some cute things I found this week:

    1. old navy waist-defined v-neck flutter sleeve dress

I had a dress very similar to this from Gap years ago and wore it until I had to throw it out because it was so worn. But it’s such an easy style to dress up or down and super flattering with the v-neck and length that’s not too short or too long. I would wear it with flat gold sandals and gold accessories, but I’m not the boss of you.

It’s $30 but an extra 30% off at checkout.

    2. breathe v-neck wide leg jumpsuit

This jumpsuit has amazing reviews and looks so cute and comfortable. It would be perfect with a denim jacket over it now and then just with sneakers or flip-flops this summer.

It’s $35 but an extra 30% off at checkout It comes in a bunch of color options.

    3. halogen sleek flat hoop earrings

I ordered these this week because I lost my favorite hoop earrings due to an unfortunate ripping a mask off my face situation and I needed a new pair. These are a great basic hoop for $25.

    4. pilcro the serena surf henley blouse

Anthropologie has a bunch of new stuff 40% off for a limited time. This top is really cute and would be perfect with jeans or shorts.

It’s on sale for $58.80 normally $98 and comes in other colors.

    5. sundance harlow top

Listen, I wish this top wasn’t $128 but it is what it is. This is so gorgeous and basically everything I love in a top. It would look so great with flare jeans and some platform wedge sandals.

    6. all I wanted floral lace dress

If you’re looking for an Easter dress or just a good spring dress for an event, look no further. This one is so feminine and pretty.

    It’s just $66.

    7. beyond beautiful top

This top is everything I love in a top. I love it like I love the white one up above. It’s pricey at $118 but, man, it is gorgeous.

    8. van’s ward lo sneakers

It’s hard to beat a good pair of Vans if you just want a comfortable sneaker option. I love this bright yellow for summer. They also come in other colors if yellow isn’t your thing.

They are $49.99. And DSW has $15 off $49 with code DREAMBIG through March 7.

    9. alanna maxi dress

This dress is on sale for a limited time for $124.60 and has such a 70s vibe. I love it.

    10. steve madden ruby natural raffia sandals

These are the sandals I would like to wear with the dress up above and really everything. I love the retro look and the fact that the heel is high without being too high.

    They are $79.

    11. express mid rise flare jeans

I just wanted to show you these flare jeans in case you’re in the market. They’re a great faded wash and so flattering on. They are $80.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition what a difference a week makes

This time last week I was coming to you live from Snovid ’21 and this week it was in the 80s two different days and I wore shorts to walk the dogs. The weather is as confused as the rest of us.

But I’m clearly thinking about spring and summer at this point because this week is heavy on white shirts. Granted, most of them come in other colors, but I am drawn to a white shirt like the proverbial moth to a flame.

Here are some cute things I found this week:

    1. universal thread julianna cork wedges

I saw these in Target and they stopped me in my tracks. They are the cutest wedges and look much more expensive than just $39.99.

    2. a new day striped pants

I also saw these pants in person and they are super cute. They are soft and flowy which are two qualities I appreciate in a pair of pants. Oh, and they have an elastic waistband.

They come in some solid options as well, but I love this stripe. They are $25.

    3. old navy scoop-neck tunic tee

These Old Navy tees continue to be my favorite. They’re a great length, super soft and come in a bunch of color options.

They are $24.99 but an extra 20% off with code SWEET.

    4. square neck eyelet top

Gap has an eyelet top every year, but this one is especially cute. It reminds me of much pricier tops at Anthropologie.

It’s on sale for $48 but an extra 20% off with code YOURS at checkout. It comes in several color options.

    5. gap linen boyfriend shirt

I cannot resist a good boyfriend button down shirt. You can wear it with leggings or over a swimsuit or tied at the waist with jeans or shorts. It’s just a great versatile basic.

This one is $59.95 but an extra 20% off with code YOURS at checkout. It also comes in a beige flax color.

    6. madewell whisper cotton striped crewneck tee

Madewell makes great tees and this striped one is a winner. It’s $24.50.

    7. madewell tassled bucket bag

I think this bag is so pretty. I love the tassel detail.

It’s $178 but 25% off with code FAVES.

    8. where we’re going white ditsy floral top

I know. Another white top. But they’re all unique in their own way. I really love this one.

    It’s $44.

    9. free people sweetheart sweater

I enjoy a white sweater to transition into warmer months and this one is really cute and has good reviews.

It’s normally $78 but on sale for $50.08 and it comes in other colors.

    10. onitsuka tiger new york

I feel like all I wear most of the time these days are sneakers so I’m looking for some good spring options. These are such a pretty color and on sale for $75.99. They also come in black and white

But I also love these tretorn rawlins 3 sneakers.

    They are $85.

And these gola sneakers are so retro and fun. They come in a bunch of color options and even some fun prints.

    They are $65.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Big Boo Cast: Episode 224

It seems like it’s been forever since we last said these words, but college baseball season is here! On this episode we talk about opening weekend for the Aggies and the Bulldogs, and we also discuss our weekend outings to the State / Alabama women’s basketball game (me) and the San Antonio rodeo (Mel). Plus, Mel shares some ways we can all jump in and help Texans who are recovering from last week’s ice storm.

AND. This week we get to spend some time talking with author Elizabeth Passarella. I mentioned her new book, Good Apple, on the podcast a few weeks ago (you may remember that I loved it), and Melanie and I were so excited to get to visit with her this week. You’ll hear part of the conversation on this episode – the rest a few weeks down the road – and you are going to love her. Melanie and I had both talked to her for about three minutes when we realized that it felt like we’ve known her forever.

    Hope y’all enjoy!

  • Fashion Friday: Edition the great Texas blizzard of 2021

    Y’all.

    I had no idea.

Last Friday I knew that the forecast was calling for freezing temps and wintry precipitation but those things have turned out to be ALL LIES at previous junctures in my life so I kind of went into it with a whole “I’ll believe it when I see it” attitude.

And let me tell you, I now believe.

It has truly been a once in a lifetime weather event. We’ve had temperatures lower than any I remember in my lifetime as a Texas and, not one, but TWO SNOW DAYS in one week. When Perry woke up me up Thursday morning to let me know it was snowing, I jumped out of bed because I didn’t want to miss it. Little did I know it would actually snow the whole entire day non-stop.

But on a serious note, it’s been a hard week for my beloved Texas. There are many ways to help and places to donate if you feel so inclined. My friend Erin Moon has a great highlight on her Instagram here that has a lot of different ways you can help those in need.

Anyway, here are some cute things I found this week. My fashion advice at this juncture should be taken with a large grain of salt considering I’ve spent most of this week alternating between pajama pants, old fleeces and two pairs of leggings.

    1. delphine ruffled eyelet top

Anthropologie has a bunch of their spring tops on sale right now. I love this one in particular. It’s so pretty without being overly frilly.

It’s normally $98 but on sale for $78.40 for a limited time and also comes in white.

    2. zesica turtleneck batwing sleeve sweater

This Amazon sweater is truly great. It’s super soft and so easy to just throw on with jeans or sweatpants or leggings.

It’s $29.99 and it comes in a bunch of different colors.

    3. chrissa tiered mini dress

This seems like it good be a dress for summer that’s a sweatpant equivalent. It’s $88 and comes in several color options.

    4. j.crew gingham button up

I love a gingham button up for the spring and summer. They are perfect with everything from shorts to jeans to a cute skirt.

This one is on sale for $34.50. It also comes in navy.

    5. free people take a spin tunic

I cannot resist a Free People tunic and this one is really good. It’s $108 and it also comes in a maroon color that I feel like I might need for Aggie sporting events in my future.

    6. nanette lepore pleated sleeveless dress

Nordstrom Rack has some really great dresses on sale right now and this one caught my eye. I feel like it has real potential.

It’s on sale for $44.97 and it also comes in navy.

    7. free people cyprus ave overalls

These are my favorite thing of the week. I feel like I need to own them. A wide legged overall? YES PLEASE.

They are $128 and come in several color options.

    8. pilcro norah pintucked blouse

Anthropologie has a simple chambray button up on sale right now if you prefer that, but I really love this pintucked blouse version. It’s just a little bit dressier and kind of different from the norm.

It’s on sale for $68.60 for a limited time.

    9. maeve rachael floral buttondown

I realize these sleeves seem large, but this is the trend. And I think this top could be so cute with some wide-legged crop jeans and wedges.

    It’s on sale for $68.60.

    10. sorel 1964 premium boots

Perry bought me these boots for Christmas years ago even though they seemed kind of wintery for a girl who lives in South Texas. I kept them because Caroline plays soccer on a lot of cold and wet days, but they have really earned their stripes this past week. I cannot tell you how warm and dry my feet have been no matter how many walks we’ve taken. They are solid gold and on sale for $127.50.

    That’s it for this week.

    Have a good Friday.

Also, it’s supposed to be in the 70s here by next week. I’ll take it.
