  • Fashion Friday: Edition I almost missed this entirely

    Happy Friday!

Here’s the problem with summer. I totally lost track of my days this week and only realized it was Thursday around 8:00 p.m. and so this edition of Fashion Friday almost didn’t happen. I mean technically I knew it was Thursday but I guess I just didn’t process it.

Anyway, before we get to the fashion portion of today, I wanted to share a quick deal that’s going on right now for my Church of The Small Things Bible study. (Not to be confused with the Church of the Small Things book which is an entirely different thing and is just $3.99 right now on Amazon. You can find that deal here. Edited to add: Sorry! Apparently that deal ended but it’s still just $11.24!)

And here’s the video trailer where I talk a little bit about the study and what it’s about.

If you’ve ever wondered if your life really matters, then this is for you. If you or your small group want to do the Church of the Small Things study, Church Source is currently offering the kit at an additional 18% when you use code SAVE18 now thru 6/27! That means you get the DVDs for all six video sessions along with a study guide for just $21. You can click here to order.

Now here are some cute things I found this week:

    1. floral embroidered tie neck dress

I love a dress for summer. And I realize this one is white, but it is so cute and I love that embroidered detail. It’s normally $89.50 but it’s 40% off everything at Loft with the code NEWNOW at checkout.

And make sure you look around because they have a bunch of great pieces right now.

    2. j.crew denim jacket

I have three denim jackets in my closet right now which is the only reason I’m not ordering this one. It’s on sale for $49.50 and it’s the perfect shade of denim. Truth be told, I really like it better than any of the ones I have in my closet and I’m having to talk myself down from ordering it.

I just think a good denim jacket is a classic piece that goes with just about everything.

    3. camo clare tee

I am totally ordering this tee. My friend Leslie texted me about it because it’s Free People and just $38 which never happens at Free People. It also comes in black or pink pattern.

    4. j.crew chambray shirt

A good chambray shirt is a staple. You can wear it with everything from shorts to jeans to a skirt. You can wear it open over a tank top or sundress. You can tie it in a knot at your waist. This one is on sale for $27.50.

    5. gap wearlight true skinny midrise jeans

And while we’re on the subject of light denim, I am really wanting a pair of light wash jeans. I think they’re like the gray jean of summer…different than white, but still a lighter look. These are on sale for $56 with an additional 10% with code GETMORE at checkout.

    6. starboy vintage top

I would wear this top all year round but it would be especially cute for the 4th of July. It’s $36.

    7. superga gingham sneakers

I adore these gingham sneakers and they are on sale for $49.99 right now.

    8. treasure and bond hoop ellipse earrings

I am a gold hoop kind of girl. I just like a good gold hoop option, but sometimes it’s nice to have something just a little less basic. I love the shape of these. They are $35 and also come in silver.

    9. leith maxi cover up dress

I have several coverup options, but the one I go to the most is really similar to this because it covers everything and it’s comfortable and easy to throw on. This is on sale for $29.40 and also comes in a dark gray.

    10. fluted sleeve knot hem kimono

This is just $12. I think ordering from Shein is hit or miss, but I’ve had good luck with their kimono type things because they are usually one size fits all. This would look so cute with just a simple t-shirt under it with a pair of denim shorts. Or over all white.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

And Happy Father’s Day to all the dads who probably aren’t reading this unless you’re my dad.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition it’s still hot here

    Well.

It’s still hotter than ever here, just in case you were wondering. At some point I’ll quit talking about it but that day is not today. I just need you to know it was so hot that when Caroline and I stopped at Sonic today to get drinks while we were running errands that the ice in my unsweet peach tea melted before I finished drinking it. That’s just wrong.

But that’s not really what I’m here to talk about because it’s Fashion Friday.

So I’m going to start by talking about my sister, Amy. She started a new business last fall called All Things New and she makes the most darling leather earrings. They come in all kinds of patterns and colors and are super lightweight.

Look how cute these are! I’m dying over the brown leather with the turquoise and the fourth of July choices. God bless America and cute earrings.

They are $12 a pair or 3 pairs for $10 each, plus shipping. You can see all her cute designs and order through direct message either @allthingsnew here on Instagram or here @allthingsnewcreations on Facebook. They are the perfect summer earrings because you’ll forget you even have them on.

Here are some other cute things I found this week:

    1. kalama ruffled top

I love this little striped ruffled top. It’s on sale for $39.95 plus an extra 25% off. It also comes in yellow. I think either would be so cute with shorts or a skirt.

    2. loft fluid pull on skirt

Speaking of skirts, that striped top above would look darling with this skirt. It comes in fern or sapphire. It’s $39.99 but 50% off with the code FLASH at checkout. And it has all 5 star reviews. That blue is divine and so summery.

    3. lucie eyelet back tank

The front of this just looks like a normal tank, but look how cute the back of it is. It’s on sale for $39.95 plus an extra 25% off. It comes in pink, white or turquoise. I love the length and that it’s a little more extra than just a normal tank.

    4. bp etched flat hoop earrings

These are great hoops for those of us who like to wear earrings by the pool or at the beach, yet don’t want to ruin a good pair. They are 50% and just $5.98.

    5. vans old skool sneakers

I love my Vans. They are so comfortable and look great with everything, but my white pair have seen better days at this point. These are $64.95 and come in a bunch of colors and patterns, but I am loving this gray and white stripe because it’s a neutral but different than what I’ve had.

    6. all-american jersey robe

Here’s my summer time dilemma. I have totally embraced the caftan for lounging around the house at night and cooking dinner, but I also need a robe option to throw on while I blow dry my hair or put on my makeup. I love this little short robe because it’s super soft and lightweight. It’s $38 or 2 for $60 and comes in several color options.

It also comes in plus sizes here.

I also love this in bloom robe. It’s a little pricier but perfect if you’re looking for something with a little more pizazz. It’s a gorgeous color.

    7. gap boyfriend popover linen tunic

These linen tunics from Gap are great because they are classic and can be thrown on over a swimsuit or worn with shorts or with white skinny jeans. They also come in tall sizes if you want it a little longer.

    8. lou and grey drawstring romper

I have a romper that’s similar to this and I adore it. In fact, I love it so much that I kind of want to buy this one as a back up and I probably will at some point. It’s so hot right now and this is perfect when I’m just doing stuff around the house during the day. And, who am I kidding, I’d totally wear it to the grocery store. It’s $59.50 but I bet it goes on sale at some point.

    9. bauble bar aimee y-choker

This has been my necklace of the summer so far. It’s $48 and also comes in silver. It looks so great with just about anything.

And there’s also this longer bauble bar layered chain y-necklace that is another great option. It also comes in silver.

    10. grecerelle casual loose pocket maxi dress

I bought a navy maxi dress similar to this one about a month ago and wear it constantly. Then I found this one on Amazon whilst I was looking at caftans. It’s just $23.80 and comes in a ton of color options. I ordered the dark gray and LOVE it. For size reference, I bought a small and am normally a size 4 but it’s still roomy. I also like to tie the front part up in a loose knot. It looks great with everything from a pair of flip-flops to my wedge heels.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition it’s officially summertime here

Today is our first official day of summer vacation. I mean, technically, we’ve already had a few days off due to the high school finals schedule and Caroline’s exam exemptions, but yesterday was truly the very last day. I guess that means my baby is now a sophomore in high school and I don’t even understand how that has happened.

Needless to say, I’ll be soaking in some downtime with my people this summer and cannot wait.

Here are a few things I found this week:

    1. steve madden chiara sandals

I certainly don’t mean to keep pushing these sandals on you, but the more I wear them the more I love them. They are so comfortable and still make me two inches taller. It’s all the benefit of a heel but feels like a flat. I just highly recommend them.

They are $79.95 and also come in black or white.

    2. bp twist back tee

How cute it this tee? It’s on sale for $14.98 and also comes in a black stripe, pink or white. It’s perfect for summer.

    3. lush raw edge side slit tee

This tee is also on sale for $15.90 and also comes in black. I love the raw edge, the side slit, the v-neck and the longer length. The navy would just be perfect with white jeans for a casual outfit.

    4. loft ruffle cuff tunic dress

Gulley and I ran in Loft this week because she was looking for a few cute dresses and we agreed that Loft has really stepped it up. They have so many cute things, including this dress for $69.50.

    5. j.crew factory tie-front tank

These tie-front tanks are on sale for $19.95 and also come in white or black. This is the perfect thing to wear with shorts, jeans or skirts. And you can always layer a denim jacket or light sweater over it. It’s the benefit of looking like you’ve tucked something in without having to tuck something in.

It also comes in a this darling stripe version in case you’re interested in that. I love a stripe for summer.

    6. sims stone pendant necklace

These cute necklaces are named after my friend Sheaffer at Sheaffer Told Me To and they are $42. They come in several color options and are a perfect pop of color for all your summer outfits. They even make a white t-shirt and denim shorts look like you really tried.

    7. j.crew factory tie-waist midi skirt

I have featured this before and it is so darling. I actually saw a friend of mine wearing it yesterday with a black tank and wanted to die from the cuteness. It is even better than the picture and it also comes in a seersucker blue stripe.

    8. j.crew factory embroidered sleeve t-shirt

This cute embroidered tee is just $23.50 and also comes in white or blue. I love that it’s soft and easy to throw on, but still really great.

    9. who what wear wide leg paperbag pants

I saw these in Target yesterday when I just ran in to get sunscreen and a few new pool floats. Isn’t that how Target always works? These are super soft and could easily be dressed up or down depending on your lifestyle needs. They also come in a black and white striped version and are $32.99.

    10. bp flat oval hoops

I bought these last fall and Caroline immediately stole them from me. And so I figured it was no big deal and I’d just get another pair since they’re just $8.00. However, they were out of stock. Until today! IT’S A SUMMER MIRACLE.

But, seriously, they are so great and lightweight and EIGHT DOLLARS.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition it’s Memorial Day weekend!

I’m not sure where the time has gone but here we are at Memorial Day weekend. I have packed my last school lunch of the year because Caroline just has finals and so she doesn’t have any full school days left. It’s the most wonderful time of the year.

And just in case you missed it, Episode 106 of the Big Boo Cast is posted here with all our thoughts on the Royal Wedding.

This also feels like a good time to suggest that if you’re in the market for a graduation gift, a copy of Everyday Holy might be a good idea. Richard gives it one feather and two wings up.

Here are some cute things I found this week:

    1. maddie eyelet top

This cute top is $49.95 plus there’s an extra 25% off all sale clothing at Anthropologie right now. It also comes in a dark gray.

    2. taylor lace dress

Last summer I had a wedding to attend and searched high and low and never found a dress that I loved. This summer I have exactly zero occasions and I adore this dress. It feels like it’s just a fascinator away from being perfect for a royal wedding. It’s $129.95 plus the extra 25% off all sale clothing.

All the reviews say it runs a size or two small so keep that in mind if you order it.

I also love this sonia drop waist shirt dress for a more casual dress option.

It’s on sale for $99.95 plus an extra 25% off. It also comes in a dark mustard color.

    3. casey geometric cutout faux leather bag

This is a great summer bag and it’s on sale for $52.93. It also comes in a light tan color.

    4. potenza tie waist tunic

Nordstrom is having a big sale right now and there are tons of cute things marked down 40%. This top is $35.40 and also comes in white. I ordered it immediately.

    5. toms espadrille slip ons

These Toms are super comfortable and a great summer shoe option, plus this chambray is a great neutral. They’re on sale for $38.37.

    6. bp tiered faux wrap skirt

I saw this skirt in the store before it was on sale and seriously debated buying it. I love that it’s a faux wrap and it’s also a knit cotton so it won’t wrinkle. It would so great with just as simple tank or t-shirt and it’s on sale for $35.40.

    7. beaded lariat necklace

This necklace is on sale for $46.80 and I think it’s so simple and pretty. It also comes in lapis, coral, and black.

    8. crochet trim square neck dress

Loft has 40% off everything through the weekend and they have tons of cute dresses and tops. This one is $79.50 plus the additional 40% off with code LONGWKND at checkout.

    9. j.crew factory embroidered dress

I realize this picture is weird but I couldn’t get it to download and finally just took a picture of my screen with my phone. I’m sure there was a better solution but I couldn’t think of one in that moment.

I love a simple shift dress like this for the hot weather. This also comes in navy or white and is on sale for $44.50. **Edited to add it’s actually only $24.95 today. I’m not sure why or for how long, but that’s a steal!**

    10. dane espadrille wedge sandal

These are on sale for $71.96 and also come in indigo and caramel. I happen to love the gold and I love love the woven heel.

    That’s it for today.

Have a lovely Memorial Day weekend.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition it’s a royal wedding weekend

Is there some kind of wedding happening this weekend?

I’m just not sure based on all the Lifetime movies and continuous specials about the royal family. In fact, I am currently watching Kate: The Making of A Modern Queen on the BBC.

Also, stay tuned because later today I will post a very special Royal Wedding edition of The Big Boo Cast because who would we be if we didn’t take the time to discuss all the upcoming festivities?

Now for some cute things I found this week:

    1. tasseled stella market tote bag

I ran in Anthropologie yesterday because I had to return a few swimsuits I’d ordered that, sadly, didn’t work out. But I did see this great beach/pool tote and fell in love. It’s $88 but it is made of water-resistant material and is just darling.

So, while I may not have a swimsuit, I have found a really cute pool bag and that’s really the most important thing.

    2. steve madden chiara sandals

So while I was out shopping, I went in the Steve Madden store because I’ve had my eye on several pairs of Steve Madden sandals and I wanted to see them live and in person. I ended up with this pair, which is shocking considering I didn’t even know they existed until I walked in the store. Shocking may be a little bit of a stretch, but I was surprised by how much I liked them and how comfortable they are. They truly are a snandal. (That’s a cross between a sneaker and a sandal in case you missed that last week.)

My first runner up were the steve madden busy sandals

I love the gold. In fact, I told the salesman that my ideal shoe would be the chiara sandal sole but in the gold color. He didn’t seem that interested in my sandal assessment. All that to say, these are really cute, too, and I love the gold but they are a little bit dressier and I decided I ultimately needed something more casual.

    4. mosley embroidered dress

Yes, this is pricey. It’s $168. But I feel that it will go on sale at some point and it is so gorgeous in person. The embroidery is to die for.

    5. old navy sleeveless swing dress

This is a much more reasonable dress option for just $18.90. These Old Navy swing dresses are the perfect summer staple and come in a bunch of patterns and colors.

    6. wadden embroidered dress

This is what happens when I go in Anthropologie. So many great things. This dress is $158 but this picture doesn’t do it justice. The blue is so gorgeous and the embroidery is perfection. It’s also longer than it appears to be in this picture. I think I stood and stared at it for five minutes, yet I didn’t dare try it on because I know my limits. I would have found a way to justify it and I don’t have a single reason to buy it. This makes me sad.

    7. mad love kasandra slip on canvas sneakers

I happened to see these online and I think they are so cute and they have so many great reviews. I love this aged camo look and they are just $22.99.

I also saw these dv brynn flatform sandals in Target this week. I love that patterned wedge heel. They are $29.99.

These agnes quarter strap espadrille sandals are also an inexpensive version of the Steve Madden sandals at just $32.99

    8. j.crew tie back tank top

This is a great solution to skirts or pants that need to be paired with a shirt that hits at the waist, but you don’t want to tuck something in. These tanks are $26.50 and come in black, gray, light blue, light red, and moss green. You can wear them tied in the back or let them hang loose, but the back still stays closed except at the bottom. They are super soft and I love that the white one isn’t see through.

    9. j.crew tie waist midi skirt

I love this skirt. And it would look great with one of the tie back tanks featured up above. It’s on sale for $44.50 and also comes in a blue and white stripe. Both are darling.

    10. lush henley

These tops are $39 and also come in light mauve, light blue and washed black. This is the perfect top to wear with jeans or even dressier pants for work. They are comfortable, light and versatile.

    That’s it for today.

    Happy Friday.

And congratulations to Harry and Meghan. All my best wishes to those crazy kids.

One winner will be chosen from my blog, one from Milk and Honey tees, and one from the Millie Mae Collection to comprise three total winners. The winners will be chosen by a random drawing.

Now for some cute things I found this week:

    1. ruffle fit and flare midi dress

There is a darling new line at Nordstrom called 1901 and they have so many cute things. This dress is $129 and also comes in green, white, gold, black and light blue. It would be perfect for a summer wedding or graduation.

    2. mixed floral tie flutter dress

I never know how I’m going to feel about pink clothing, but this appears to be a winner. I love the shade of pink and the floral pattern. I also think it could be dressed up or down depending on your dress needs.

It’s $89.50 but an extra 30% off plus an extra 10% off with the code LOVEMOM at checkout.

(Why not just 40% off? I don’t understand, Loft.)

    3. plaid cotton style wrap dress

This is another dress by 1901 and I love it because it seems like something the ladies in the movie Hidden Figures would wear. It’s so retro and I love it. It’s $129.

    4. steve madden kirsten layered platform sandal

I keep meaning to buy these shoes and then I forget. And then I think about them again and can’t decide between the gold or the natural tan color. They are $89 and I love that they are a heel without really being a heel. They’re like a cross between a sneaker and a sandal, which I guess makes them a “snandel” or a “sandeaker”.

    5. loft cropped jeans in chalk pink

I love a pair of white jeans, but I also like to have other light colored jean options. This pink is perfect and I love the raw hem. They are $69.50 plus an extra 30% off and an extra 10% off with the code LOVEMOM at checkout.

    6. loft striped flutter button shell

I think this is a darling top. It’s $54.50 plus an extra 30% off and an extra 10% off with the code LOVE MOM at checkout.

    7. aimee y-choker

Several of you asked about the necklace I had on in the picture with Caroline yesterday that I wore to the Pop Cast. This is it. It’s $48 and also comes in silver. It has extra notches in the back so it doesn’t have to be worn as choker-like as it is featured here. I really love mine.

Also, the jumpsuit I wore that night is here for those who asked. It is so cute and so comfortable, but it’s almost sold out.

    8. hadley embroidered tunic dress

I am a sucker for an embroidered tunic anything and so this is no exception. The reviews also say it has a slip under it so it’s not sheer. It’s $99.95 plus 25% off.

    9. striped long kimono

I have had my eye on this for a long time. I think it would look so great over all white this summer and then all black later on. Or maybe just over jeans and a white t-shirt. Whatever. I love stuff like this and love the colors. It’s $99.95 plus 25% off.

    10. steve madden cali espadrille platform

These sandals are the other pair I keep debating because I don’t need these and the ones featured above. I love them both equally, but think these might not be as everyday friendly since they’re a little taller and might cause a person to twist an ankle walking out of the grocery store. But maybe it would be worth it because you’d look so cute up until that point. I do love that they’re a platform so it’s all the height without a real heel.

They are $99.95 and also come in cognac or black.

    That’s it for today.

Have a good Friday and a happy Mother’s Day!
