  • Big Boo Cast: Episode 311

This episode is longer than usual because of our Gift Guide, but you can rest assured that Sophie and I break down all the important football developments before we get into anything else. After all, we want the podcast to be a safe place for me as I process my football grief and disillusionment.

Just like last week, the Gift Guide links are in a Google doc (link below), and it’s my turn for Five Favorites.

    Hope y’all enjoy!

  • Fashion Friday: Edition remember when I said things couldn’t get worse?

Remember back when A&M lost to South Carolina I think it was and I said things couldn’t get worse.

    I lied.

Because last weekend I went to the A&M vs. Ole Miss game and here’s a quick list of things that went wrong:

    1. The team had no run out song and it was instead just kind of an awkward silence as they took the field.

    2. The officiating was atrocious at times. I never believe in leaving the game in the hands of the officials, but this was horrendous.

    3. Lane Kiffin

    4. Someone found a possum living behind their seat.

    5. There was apparently a possibly rabid bat in the stadium.

    6. The pre-game flyover, which you can usually count on being spectacular, looked more like this:

    via GIPHY

    7. We lost the game.

All that say, things have indeed gotten worse. So maybe we’ve hit rock bottom and there is nowhere to go but up.

    via GIPHY

Anyway, here are some cute things I found this week:

    1. old navy rib knit long sleeve maxi dress

I ran into Old Navy last week and bought this without even trying it on. And then I went home and tried it on and it was exactly what I hoped it would be. It hits about mid-calf, looks great with boots and is just the right weight without being too clingy or heavy.

It’s $39.99. It comes in several color options. I bought the medium and it also looks great with sneakers and a denim jacket.

    2. oversized boyfriend tunic sweatshirt

This tunic sweatshirt from Old Navy is one of my perennial favorites. It’s perfect to throw on with leggings, washes well and is a great weight.

It’s $39.99 but an extra 30% off taken at checkout. It comes in a ton of color options.

    3. dolce vita hawk h2o booties

I bought these booties a few weeks ago and have already worn them so much. They are super comfortable and I had no regrets after wearing them last weekend and walking all over the place in them. They are also waterproof which is a bonus.

They are $149.95 and come in several color options.

    4. Morgan duster cardigan

Urban Outfitter always has a stand out long cardigan every season and this is it for this year. It comes in two different color options and both are gorgeous.

    This is $149.00.

    5. kut from the kloth Catherine boyfriend jeans

I bought these jeans at Nordstrom Rack a few years ago before I even knew that straight leg boyfriend jeans were going to be a thing. I just liked the way they fit. And the waist is more of a mid-rise so they are easier to wear than some of the higher waist jeans out there.

    These are $89.

    6. vince camuto gradation crewneck sweater

Love this sweater and it could also make a great Christmas gift.

It’s on sale for $45.90 and comes in several color options.

    7. brushed oversized shacket

While I hate the word “shacket”, I do like a shacket. This one from Target is so great because it’s kind of a brushed fabric and not too heavy.

It’s $50. It comes in other colors, but I really love this berry.

    8. ugg cozy knit slippers

If anyone is looking at my Fashion Friday who is in my family and wants to know what to get me for Christmas, these are at the top of my list. I love the cozy knit detail.

They also come in charcoal gray. They’re $120.

    9. daily practice half zip tunic sweater

I would not wear this as a dress. I would, however, wear it over leggings and think it would be so cute. Love the colors.

    It’s on sale for $79.95.

    10. j.crew tartan woven collar sweater

I love this look but I never want to have to deal with actually layering a shirt under a sweater. I am not talented enough to make that work without having a lot of bulk. But this is such a great look with jeans and sneakers.

    It’s $49.

    That’s it for this week.

    Have a good Friday.

    BTHO Florida. Or whatever.

  • Big Boo Cast: Episode 310

Well, the Aggies didn’t win, but just as I predicted, I still enjoyed the snacks and the company at this past weekend’s Texas A&M / Ole Miss game. We talk about both of those things, as well as Caroline’s game day overalls and the pre-game festivities. Then, in news unrelated to football, we discuss the quality time Sophie and her husband have had with Alex’s roommate and why she may open a bed and breakfast for sick college students.

Also, this week marks the kick-off of our annual Holiday Gift Guide – we’re talking about gift ideas for teenage boys and teenage girls – and it’s Sophie’s turn for Five Favorites.

    Hope y’all enjoy!

  • Fashion Friday: Edition I don’t know what you mean by “football”

I can’t really talk about football right now, but thanks for asking.

All that being said, I’m already in College Station for the game against Ole Miss this weekend. I’d appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

Here are some cute things I found this week in between reading message boards about what’s going on with Aggie football.

    1. mock turtleneck pullover sweater

This is such a great sweater at a great price. Easy to dress up or down and comes in several colors.

    This is $30.

    2. Molly top

Love this bright floral top. It would look so great with black pants or even with jeans.

    It’s $72.

    3. olive green corduroy button down dress

This dress is such a cute dress for this time of year. It would be great for Thanksgiving because you don’t have to worry about stretching out a waistband.

    It’s $66.

    4. lush funnel neck stripe sweater

I keep seeing different versions of this stripe sweater and I love all of them.

    This is $69.

    5. free people Clarissa printed top

This is the prettiest top and perfect to wear with higher waisted pants and jeans.

    It’s $98.

    6. Chinese laundry Theresa platform sandals

I had been needing a pair of neutral heels to wear with various dresses and such. But I didn’t know what I wanted and knew it wasn’t a traditional pump. I found these and love them.

They are $79.95. They come in several color options.

    7. patterned satin pajamas

I’ve become a big fan of satin pajamas. I guess I’m getting fancy in my older age. This red pair would be so great for Christmas.

    They are $34.99.

    8. cable knit turtleneck sweater

H&M consistently has the best sweaters for the best prices.

This is $29.99. It comes in other colors.

    9. aerie quarter zip sweatshirt

I love all the sweatshirts at Aerie and this one is perfect as an athleisure option.

It comes in several color options and is on sale for $44.81.

    10. cable knit crewneck pullover sweater

Target has some great sweaters right now and this is one of them.

It comes in several color options and is $30.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a great Friday.

    BTHO Ole Miss.

  • Big Boo Cast: Episode 309

Over the years Sophie and I have had a lot of conversations about college football, but I don’t think I have ever been as fired up about my Aggies as I am this week. That is to say: I’m a smidge angry. We process some of that anger before we move into Side Eyes and I See Yous, and then we do a little catch-up on the non-football things that have happened this past week. You may pick up on the fact that non-football life has been a much more consistent source of joy.

We also do a quick summary of what we’ve been reading / watching / listening to, we marvel so many things related to Taylor Swift, and it’s my turn for Five Favorites.

    Hope y’all enjoy!

  • Fashion Friday: Edition I actually wore a sweater this week

We actually got a fairly legitimate cold front here on Monday and I was delighted. I can’t remember the last time we had a cool, rainy day and I hope we have more of them in our winter future.

Now, in fairness, it’s back in the 80s over the weekend, but I did get to wear a sweater on two different occasions this week and that felt like a win.

Here are some cute things I found this week:

    1. pilcro supermodel high rise flare jeans

Anthropologie has 40% off all sale items right now. These jeans are on sale for $89.95 plus an additional 40% off in cart with no code needed. I really love a flare jean and these look like they might be worth a try.

    2. print fresh bagheera long robe

I love my Print Fresh pajamas. They wash like a dream and the bright pattern just makes me happy. This robe might make a great Christmas gift for someone on your list.

It’s $89.95 plus an additional 40% off in cart.

    3. gold flower necklace

This pretty necklace might also make a great Christmas gift.

It’s on sale for $39.95 plus an additional 40% off.

    4. Steve Madden leopold booties

I have some booties this color and they are the best neutral shoe. These are a great option if you love the look of a bootie but also prefer to wear a flat heel. These look rugged without being too much.

They are $119.95 but on sale for $83.30. They also come in other colors.

    5. farm rio Alessia flowered leopard top

This top is pricey at $195. But I tried it on in the store the other day and it is dreamy. It’s longer than it looks on the model, the colors are perfection and it would be easy to wear with jeans or dress up with black pants.

In summary, I am waiting to see if it goes on sale because I really love it.

    6. pavoi 20 mm gold hoops

I had some gold hoops this size and I lost one. It was the saddest day. And I lived without hoops this size for far longer than I’d care to admit before I realized I could probably order a new pair on Amazon.

These are great and just $13.95. I like that they have a clasp and I don’t have to keep up with an earring back.

    7. birkenstock Boston shearling

I realize these may not be for everyone, but I think they are such a great casual winter shoe option. It’s the winter version of a flip-flop.

These come in several colors but the gray is on sale for $129.99.

    8. universal thread black denim overalls

I love my black denim overalls. They look so cute with a sweater layered under them with clogs or booties.

This pair is on sale for $28.

    9. ruffled tuxedo shirt

You could actually wear this ruffled shirt under the aforementioned overalls, but it’s also a great option to wear with jeans or a cute skirt or really whatever. It’s a versatile classic.

    It’s $39.99.

    10. zipper collar pullover sweater

I love a good long sweatshirt/sweater type thing that I can wear with leggings and sneakers. This one is really cute, it’s a good length, and it comes in a ton of color options.

    It’s $28.99.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

    BTHO South Carolina.
