  • Fashion Friday: Edition bacon. It’s hopefully what’s for dinner Saturday night.

    1. harlow wide leg pants

Did I think I’d live long enough to see wide leg pleated pants come back in style? No, I did not. Yet here were are. And I actually think these are cute.

They are $118. They also come in black.

    2. able Whitney boyfriend jeans

These are my favorite of all the straight leg boyfriend jeans. I have a pair. Caroline has a pair. We love them and the denim is so soft.

They are on sale for $68.

    3. Hailee sweater set

I kept seeing influencers on Instagram talk about this set and, I’ll be honest, I ordered it out of pure curiosity. I kind of hoped I’d hate it. Spoiler alert: I do not, in fact, hate it. I adore it. It’s so comfortable and if the weather ever actually cools down I will wear it constantly.

It comes in lots of color options and is $118. I ordered the small and it’s a great fit. I’m normally a 4-6.

    4. crochet back denim utility jacket

I love a utility jacket for the fall and this one is extra cute with that crocheted back. Would look so great with jeans and booties.

    It’s on sale for $89.95.

    5. pilcro romy relaxed button-down

I love these pilcro relaxed shirts. They are super lightweight, yet still feel substantial. They are a great length and they come in several pattern and color options.

    They are $98.

    6. focus on you wine red layered sweater

Here’s the sad news. A&M doesn’t have another home game until the end of October. But the good news is that we have home games almost the entire month of November and that will hopefully mean there will be some games that are actually kind of cold. Even if that’s not the case, I still love this layered sweater look.

It’s $46. Also comes in black or gray.

    7. 90 degree by Reflex fleece hooded cardigan

I realize I’m posting a lot of things for colder weather but it’s the only way I can cope. I have to believe a day will come when I will step outside again and not want to die.

Several years ago I bought a sweatshirt wrap jacket type thing that was the perfect thing to wear over my workout clothes during the colder months. I wore it so much that I had to throw it out because it looked ratty. But this is the perfect replacement.

It’s $39.99 and comes in a couple of other colors. And I’m a sucker for anything with the thumb holes.

    8. love stitch multi print v-neck dress

I think this is such a pretty dress for fall and winter. All you need is a pair of booties or tall boots and you have a great outfit.

    It’s $79.

    9. open front cardigan jacket

There are people that refer to this as a coatigan but I am not one of those people. However, I do love this whole thing and have something similar in a camel color that I wore all last winter and loved.

This is just $42.99 and comes in several color options.

    10. vince camuto madrie loafer

I’m going to file the return of the loafer with the return of the pleated pants. I thought I was done with loafers, but I have to admit this is a really cute shoe that would fill a gap in my shoe wardrobe. If you’re looking at loafers, the lug sole is the key.

These are $119. They also come in black.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Big Boo Cast: Episode 304

The football horizon is a bit brighter this week for my Aggies, and even though that was not the case for Sophie’s Bulldogs (congrats, LSU), we talk about some weekend events that brought us all manner of joy. We also unexpectedly shifted into a conversation about which SEC fans are mostly likely to slide into our DMs after a win (and which ones rarely say anything), so if you feel like we have stepped on your toes a little bit, please know that we love you all.

We both share some Side Eyes, Sophie has an exciting TV update and it’s her turn for Five Favorites.

    Enjoy, y’all!

  • Fashion Friday: Edition please let us beat the hell out of Miami

    Listen.

I have barely recovered from last week’s debacle against App State and here we are again. Let’s hope it goes better than last week.

Here are some cute things I found this week:

    1. donna frayed hem medium wash flare jeans

A lot of you have asked me about a starter pair of flare jeans. I really like these. They’re super casual, look great with sneakers or booties and are just $56.

    2. high-waisted pop-color flare jeans

I ordered these from Old Navy and they are really cute. They are a true maroon color and are $44.99 but an extra 25% off with code BONUS. If you’re in between sizes, I would size down. They run a little big.

    3. petunia top

Love this top to transition to fall.

It’s $68. It also comes in a green pattern

    4. h&m oversized sweater

H&M always has the best sweaters at the best prices. This is a great basic v-neck for just $24.99.

It comes in several color options

    5. pleats to meet you skort

I ran in Impeccable Pig the other day and loved this skort. It’s the prettiest green and just so cute.

    It’s $58.

    6. robin tiered mini dress

I love these tiered mini dresses from Anthropologie. They are super flattering, come in a bunch of patterns and are easy to dress up or down.

    This is $138.

    7. oversized waffle knit cardigan

I love a waffle knit anything. It’s just a great cozy fabric that’s not too warm, but makes a great layer.

It’s under $35 and it comes in a ton of color options.

    8. balsa dress

I personally don’t have any fall events, but I would get this dress if I did. I think it’s so pretty and it’s got great reviews.

    It’s $84.

    9. bb Dakota floral top

I love the colors in this top. It’s $68.95.

    orange blossom printed chiffon dress

This is the dress version and it’s so pretty. It’s $98.95.

    10. holding on to you chocolate coat

I love everything about this. Now I just need cooler weather.

    This is $58.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Big Boo Cast: Episode 303

The football sun didn’t shine on A&M this past weekend, so in this episode we spend some time processing and working through the Aggies’ loss to Appalachian State. We also talk about a few other upsets from this past weekend and offer some Side Eyes and I See Yous – all in an effort to distract me from my pain, of course.

Sophie and David got to spend some time with Alex this past Friday night, so we break that down with some Serious Empty Nest Philosophizing (TM), and it’s my turn for Five Favorites.

    Hope y’all enjoy!

  • Fashion Friday: Edition goodbye to Her Majesty QE2

When I started working on this post yesterday morning, I was following the news that Queen Elizabeth was seriously ill and her family had gathered at her bedside. And by the time I finished it, the news broke that she had passed away. It’s the end of an era for sure. I saw an instagram post that said she was alive for 30% of all of American history and it’s pretty amazing to think of all the history she lived.

Not to mention, she had great style.

On another note, my friends at Allie + Bess have given us a code for 30% off site wide starting today and running through the weekend. These are seriously my favorite bracelets and I wear some version of them everyday. This would be a phenomenal time to buy some for yourself and load up on Christmas gifts. The discount code is MELANIE30.

Here are a few of my favorites.

    The College Station stack

    The Dallas, TX stack

    The Denton, TX stack

    The sun kissed stack

But you seriously need to go look at all the different bracelet options and other things they have. If you cheer for a team, I promise they offer a stack in your team’s colors. And there are so many other great options. It’s all 30% off with code MELANIE30 which is the biggest discount they offer.

Anyway, here are some cute things I found this week. You’ll notice that I inadvertently featured everything in a maroon shade even though most things come in other colors. What can I say? It’s Aggie football season.

    1. cute pink plaid coat

This is just about the cutest coat I’ve seen. It’s really all you need for a Southern winter and I just love the colors.

    It’s $86.

    2. work miracles gold ankle strap heels

I realize these aren’t shoes you need for daily life, but I have a pair of gold sandals that I love. They are often the best option for any special event dresses. And I love the chunkier heel on these. They would also make good Homecoming shoes for a teen girl.

    They are $44.

    3. bucketlist hooded cozy sweatshirt

This is the kind of thing I like to live in once the weather cools off. It’s just so cozy and perfect.

It’s $68 and comes in other colors.

    4. pilcro Gwen wide leg trouser jeans

I posted these jeans on Instagram about a week ago after I wore them to a speaking event. They are the best wide leg jeans I’ve found. Super comfortable and a great length. They run true to size, but if you’re in between then I would size down.

    They are $148.

    5. medium rise wide leg ankle jeans

A friend asked me this week if I could find her a pair of wide leg cropped jeans for under $80. I love a challenge so I searched and found these. I have had good luck with Express jeans in the best. Reviews do say these run small so you may want to size up.

They are 50% off and just $44.

    6. the kit high rise wide leg utility trousers

Apparently I’m on a wide leg pant search right now. These have great reviews and I just love everything about them. As for what you wear with them, you can wear a shorter shirt, a bodysuit, a slim fitting shirt of some kind or tie a button-down at the waist.

    They are $148.

    7. stars above pajama set

I ordered these immediately. They are the softest, best fabric and I have another pair of pajamas in this material that I have almost worn out.

    They are $29.99.

    8. dolce vita suede slip on boots

These are a really great, versatile pair of boots and on sale for just $59.99.

    9. long sleeve satin button down

This satin button down from Target is so good. And it’s $25. It comes in several color options.

    10. chunky cardigan sweater

I love a good long cardigan when the weather cools off and this one has great reviews.

It comes in lots of colors and there’s a coupon applied at shipping which makes it under $35.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a great Friday.

    BTHO Appalachian State.

  • Big Boo Cast: Episode 302

It’s probably not a surprise to anyone, but after the first big weekend of college football, this episode is A Lot of Sports. This is also what we like to refer to as our happy place. And while our sound wouldn’t pick up my little noisemaker for some reason, we did not let that deter us from our first round of Side Eyes and I See Yous for this new season. We won’t always talk about football quite this much, but it seemed right and fitting for the first big game weekend.

We also discuss our recent closet clean-outs, our Empty Nest Feelings, and our desperation to have actual conversations with our children. Plus it’s my turn for Five Favorites.

    Hope y’all enjoy!
