  • Fashion Friday: Edition SEC Media Days

So if you don’t follow me on Instagram then you may not know that I’ve spent most of this week in Atlanta for SEC Football Media Days with Sophie. When I tell you that it was all I hoped it would be and more, I am absolutely not kidding. We were living our best lives in the middle of all the football talk and season projections and discussions on NIL money.

Anyway, I posted pictures every day and there were a lot of questions about what I was wearing, what Sophie was wearing and what other various people were wearing. So it seemed like a good idea to just make this week’s edition a very special SEC Media Days post about all the various clothing.

And since I am really not a great influencer, I wore a lot of things that are sold out or just several years old, but I have done my best to find similar items.

    1. daily practice utility wide-leg pants

Sophie wore these pants the second day of Media Days and they are so cute. They are basically elevated sweatpants, but look much more pulled together. She wore them in a green that is now sold out, but this ivory option is really cute. These would look so good with sweaters this fall and winter.

    They are $98.

    2. levitate poplin tee

This is the shirt that Sophie wore with the aforementioned pants. It has some good length to it and is made from a crisp poplin material so it really holds it shape and doesn’t look schlumpy.

It’s $129. It also comes in black.

    3. nike Air Force 1 sage in true berry

Our new friend Lindsey wore these shoes and we all fell in love. They are just the prettiest magenta color in person and suede which makes them extra special.

They are an older edition Air Force 1 so the only place I found them was on Ebay for $109, but you can google them and see if they pop up somewhere else. It looked like they had some on Poshmark as well.

And StockX and Goat are also good sites to find sneakers that may be an older edition or sold out.

    4. allie + bess bracelets

I always wear some sort of bracelet stack and what bracelets I wear just depends on the day, my outfit, my mood and if it’s 104 degrees outside and too hot for bracelets. I love the bracelets from Allie + Bess and I’m usually wearing some combo of either the dottie sunkissed stack

and then I add in the allie stack

You can get 20% off at Allie+Bess with the code MELANIE20 at checkout.

Then I like to add in a turquoise bead stretch bracelet

This one is $19.97 right now. I bought mine years ago at random small boutiques but it’s a similar look.

I also like these turquoise stretch bracelets

    These are under $30.

My newest bracelet addition is the holland and birch Purcell cuff bracelet.

You can get it engraved with anything you want. I chose Isaiah 42:16 because it’s one of my favorite Bible verses. The cuff is $44 but you can get 20% off until Sunday with the code BIGBOO20 at checkout.

I also got this holland and birch hall cuff and had it engraved with Gig’em.

It’s $38 but you can get 20% off until Sunday with code BIGBOO20 at checkout.

    5. Maeve wide leg cropped linen pants

Earlier this summer I found some Kelly green linen cropped pants on sale at Anthropologie and bought them immediately. They fit like a dream and were so comfortable. Sadly, they are now sold out in most sizes in every color except black and navy. However, I will say that they are some of my favorite pants I’ve ever owned. They are just the perfect weight for summer.

    They are $120

But I also love the Maeve the colette cropped wide leg pants

They are the same cut and fit as the first pair, but aren’t linen which makes them a great option to transition to fall. They are still available in several colors and are $120.

    6. free people wide-leg floral pants

One day this week I wore a pair of floral wide leg pants that I bought from Anthropologie two summers ago, thus, they are long since sold out. But these Free People ones are very similar and are $128.

But if you want a more affordable option, these tropical print palazzo pants are really cute and just $24.99.

And I found these floral bohemian flowy pants that come in a ton of color and pattern options for just $26.99.

    7. a new day Victoria wedge heels

I’ve talked about these shoes all summer long and they are still available. Honestly, it’s the best $37.99 I’ve spent. I wear them constantly and they are so comfortable. I would recommend sizing down a half size.

    8. long sleeve button down linen blouse

I wore this exact blouse with my floral wide leg pants and it was perfect with them. I just do a front tuck and let the back hang down. I also really like to wear this shirt with jeans and cutoff shorts.

It’s $24.98 and comes in several color options. I bought the medium and it’s a perfect fit. I’m usually a 6 in tops.

    9. bb Dakota hearts aflutter top

This is the top I wore with my Kelly green linen pants. I have worn this top so much this summer because it’s lightweight and just easy to put on and not feel too hot. Plus it’s a crinkle material which means it’s supposed to look a little wrinkled.

    It’s on sale for $51.75.

    10. pistola grover short sleeve field suit

I wore this jumpsuit the last day of media days and it’s a favorite. I bought it this past spring and have loved it. I realize a jumpsuit isn’t for everyone, but this is so comfortable and so cute.

I have this flamingo pink color but it comes in several color options including a bright blue, an army green with black stars, and a black version that I love. It’s $168.

    11. nike dunk high up sneaker

One of the highlights for me was seeing all the sneakers. You have no idea how many sneaker options are out there. We live in an amazing time.

    These are $125.

And my new friend Sarah had these nike black and white dunk sneakers that she wore with dress pants and looked so cute.

Prices vary on these and you may want to try StockX or Goat if you like them.

And then I wore these nike blazer low platform sneakers. I bought them in the spring and have loved them. They are just a great casual option and more appropriate for my age than the high-tops.

They are $100 and come in other colors.

Anyway, that’s a pretty good wrap up of the week and if I didn’t link or mention something you saw, it’s probably because it was either completely out of stock or bought at some random small boutique. I know a lot of you loved the floral dress Sophie wore on Tuesday. I regret to tell you she found it at Walmart and it is completely gone. It really was a stand out because it looked like it came straight from Anthropologie.

    That’s it for this week.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Big Boo Cast: Episode 295

We recorded this episode from Day One of SEC Football Media Days earlier this week, and man oh man are we ever living our best lives. Obviously we talk about media days (day one, at least), and we discuss the obnoxious amount of clothes we packed for our time in Atlanta. We trust you would expect no less.

You’ll also hear my shock / surprise / disappointment when I learn about another movie Sophie has never seen, and we break down how we respond to conflict (here’s a hint: WE DON’T LOVE IT). Plus, it’s my turn this week for Five Favorites.

    Enjoy, y’all!

  • Fashion Friday: Edition I’m headed to SEC Media days

    That’s right.

On Sunday I’m flying to meet Sophie and we will spend Monday through Thursday at SEC Media Days. I have no idea what all this will entail and what sort of fun will be had, but I’m so excited about it. It is no secret how much I love the college sports and so this is basically everything I could want in an event. It’s going to be one of those weeks where I’m going to have to work really hard to just act normal.

Here’s the other plus. The forecast for Atlanta looks significantly cooler than the hell that is happening here in Texas and so that feels like another win. Maybe I’ll even pack a light sweater for the chilly 92 degree temps.

Here are some cute things I found this week. I realize we are just coming off Amazon Prime days but there are lots of sales happening other places as well.

    1. pilcro Oxford tunic button-down

Okay, so this first thing isn’t on sale, but I so love an oversized button-down right now. It’s just the easiest thing to throw on with jeans or shorts. This one is so great and perfect to transition to fall.

    It’s $108.

    2. kork-ease tilly clogs

True story. These are already in my closet. On Monday I was looking online for something and it’s like the internet knows me because these popped up and I immediately loved them. Then I noticed they were $120 but on sale for $69.99 so what else could I do but buy them? It is no secret I love a clog and I don’t have a pair in this color.

I got them in yesterday and they are all that I hoped. They are Kork-ease so super comfortable and just a great heel height for everyday wear. They don’t come in half sizes so I’d recommend ordering up if you’re in between sizes.

    3. known beauty burgundy textured blouse

This is the time of year when I start dreaming of fall and college football, which for me means thinking about maroon clothing that can be worn when it’s still absurdly hot outside.

I think this top is so cute and it’s $45. It comes in other colors but why would you want anything but the maroon?

    4. flower burst statement drop earrings

Ann Taylor is having a big sale and of course it’s complicated because that’s how Ann Taylor does it. If you buy one thing on sale, it’s an extra 50% off. Two things is an extra 60% off and three things is an extra 70% off. This requires a lot of math. But all discounts are automatically taken at checkout so you have that going for you.

These earrings are so fun and they on sale for $24.99 but an extra 50% off (unless you buy more than one thing) which makes them just $12.50 at checkout. Are you confused? Me too.

    5. camp shirt

I love a good simple shirt like this. You can dress it up for the office or just wear it with jeans for a casual look.

This pink is on sale for $54.99 but an extra 50% off. Different colors are different price points and for some colors you only get 30% off and have to use the code SUMMER, but all colors are on sale.

Guess what? This is also at Ann Taylor. Ann makes you work to figure out the discount.

    6. ruffle flare dress

This dress is darling and so easy to dress up or down. It’s at Loft which is a sister of Ann Taylor and so the discount is also a variable offer.

This dress is normally $69.50 but you get an extra 40% off with code OMG in the color fuschia, but an extra 50% off with code OMG if you opt for the light blue.

    7. floral lace flutter sleeve top

The good news is I can simply tell you that this top is normally $64.99 but an extra 50% off with code OMG at checkout. I really love the flutter sleeve lace and it would look so cute with jeans.

    8. Zella restore soft pocket leggings

The Nordstrom sale officially opens to up to the average human being with no Nordstrom card today and there are a couple of things I would recommend, including these Zella pocket leggings. I now own them in three colors and I really like them. They are like a legging/jogger hybrid. I wear mine all the time in the fall and winter.

They are normally $65 but on sale for $39.99. If you’re on the fence about sizing, I’d size up.

    9. Steve madden Chaya pointed toe bootie

These booties are also part of the Nordstrom sale. I do not personally need a new pair of booties because I bought a new pair at the end of last season, but I really like these. They are just a great basic look and color with a heel that’s good for every day.

They are normally $139.95 but on sale for $94.99 and come in other colors.

    10. two-piece summer pjs short set

I was with Gulley this past weekend and she had the cutest pajama short set and it made me wonder why I didn’t have a pajama short set. Amazon has a ton of cute options to choose from and these have really good reviews and are just $19.19.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Big Boo Cast: Episode 294

This week we talk about a whole lot of ordinary life: celebrating some extended family birthdays, finding an unexpected treasure at Nordstrom Rack, and trying to get our kids’ living spaces coordinated for the new semester.

We also discuss some new shows we’re watching and how I’m dealing with the Texas heat. Spoiler alert: Not well.

    Hope y’all enjoy!

  • Fashion Friday: Edition it’s hot and I don’t know what else to say

    I know.

Why even talk about the heat at this point? It is what it is.

But, honestly, it’s so hot that I don’t really even want to talk about summer clothes. I don’t want to talk about the Nordstrom sale because it is currently only open to people who spend like an insane amount of money every year at Nordstrom and not the rest of us common folks.

I want to talk about the real MVP this weekend which is Anthropologie. They are offering 25% off some new fall merchandise this weekend only and just seeing fall clothes made me feel hopeful for a future where the temps are below 105.

Here are some cute things I found this week that will be on my wishlist for fall.

    1. pilcro the icon flare jeans

I am so happy that flare jeans are officially back. They are my favorite of all the jeans and this pair looks so good. The reviews are great.

They are on sale $111 this weekend.

    2. Maeve vera jacquard sweater vest

I realize no one wants to think about a sweater vest right now, but I love this one and the retro print. It would look so great with some high raise flares and wedge heels.

It’s on sale for $73 this weekend.

    3. pilcro relaxed shirt

These pilcro plaid shirts are one of my favorites. They are such a great closet staple and I like to size up in them so they are just a little oversized. It’s a great piece to transition to fall when it’s still hot outside.

They are on sale for $73 and come in several color options.

    4. Maeve rolled sleeve soft blazer

Blazers will continue to be a big trend this fall and I’m happy about that.

This one is on sale for $111 and also comes in a tan color.

    5. luna slouchy crossbody bag

This is such a cute bag for fall and comes with a plain strap and this patterned strap.

It’s on sale for $58.50. It also comes in black.

    6. classic clogs

Clogs are back again for fall and it makes my child of the 70s heart happy. I love a good pair of clogs.

They are on sale for $73.50.

And if you feel like you need a strap to help hold your foot in, these slingback heeled clogs are also really cute.

    They’re on sale for $123.75.

    7. long merly jacket

ABLE has a bunch of stuff on sale including this long version of my favorite denim jacket ever. I love this longer length to wear with leggings.

It’s on sale for $100 but normally $180.

    8. Tiana top

I love the colors in this top and it could easily transition to fall weather with a pair of flare jeans and some clogs.

    It’s $68.

    9. j.crew gauze button-up shirt

On my instagram this week I had on an oversized linen shirt from Gap. I would link it but it is completely sold out on line. But this gauze button-up from J.Crew is a great option if you want that look. I usually order up in something like this so it’s a little oversized.

It’s on sale for $49.50. It comes in several color options.

    10. kut from the kloth meg high rise wide leg denim

Kut from the Kloth denim is one of my favorites. Their denim is soft and has the right amount of stretch. I love this wide leg pair for fall. They are $94.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Big Boo Cast: Episode 293

It’s been a slow week since we last recorded, but that didn’t stop us from digging into all sorts of exciting topics on this episode: picture frames, herbs, weather, and so many other things that pretty much scream WE ARE VERY BORING.

Fortunately we’ve watched a good bit of TV, so we break that down, and it’s my turn for Five Favorites.

    Hope y’all enjoy!
