  • Fashion Friday: Edition Memorial Day Weekend

So here we are. For most of us it is now officially summer. And I have to imagine that we all started this year thinking we’d probably be wearing masks to celebrate Memorial Day Weekend while having socially distant barbecues.

    God bless us all.

Here are a few things I found this week that are cute. Maybe you’ll be able to tell that I’m over the sweatpants and joggers right now. It’s all I’ve worn for the last two months, plus it’s now officially transitioned into true Texas summer heat which means I need to pivot into clothing that doesn’t touch my body.

    via GIPHY

    1. aerie smocked midi dress

I think this is just beautiful and could be great on its own or as a swimsuit coverup. You could throw on a light sweater or denim jacket with it. It also comes in an emerald green or black but I personally love this tropical print.

It’s 50% off and on sale for just $27.47 right now.

    2. cabales 3-pack seamless wireless sports bra

This has been my best find of the pandemic. While it’s a stretch to call these bras “sports bras” unless you’re doing yoga or something else very low impact, they are actually very supportive and flattering. They are padded and unbelievably soft. I can honestly say they are the first bras I’ve ever owned that I don’t immediately want to take off the minute I can.

Best of all, they are $19.99 for a three pack of them. There is a sizing chart on Amazon and it is very true to size from my experience.

    3. crinkled cotton dress

The flowy shapeless dress is my new sweatpants. It’s easy to throw on, you can wear it with everything from dressy sandals to sneakers or flip flops. And it’s just $24.99. It comes in several color options.

    4. button front dress

I love this dress. I think it’s a great summer piece that could transition to fall later on. It’s $34.99.

    5. airy dress

This is the short version of the crinkled dress above. It’s $19.99 and could be a dress, a swimsuit coverup, or just something you wear around the house when you feel too hot to live.

    It also comes in white

    6. eyelet embroidery skirt

I love this. I love the color, I love the eyelet, I love the whole thing. Such a cute skirt that could be dressed up or down. You could even wear it with a graphic t-shirt tied at the waist and sneakers.

    It’s $49.99.

    7. blue and white striped tier dress

This is currently on pre-order, but I adore both the style of this dress and the blue and white stripe. It’s so crisp for summer. It’s $98.

    8. USA graphic sweatshirt

I realize it’s too late to get this for Memorial Day, but you could get it for July 4th assuming you live somewhere that would allow you to wear a sweatshirt on July 4th. I just love the USA graphic (and the country) and really like this sweatshirt to wear all year round. It’s $35.

    9. universal thread belted overalls

I’ve really been a fan of overalls during this pandemic. They are like an upscale version of sweatpants. These are darling and just $29.99. Perfect to wear with a tank or a t-shirt with sneakers or sandals. They come in several color options.

    10. prologue short sleeve dress

I realize this is basically just an oversize white t-shirt posing as a dress, but on the bright side it’s an oversized white t-shirt posing as a dress. I love pieces like this in the summer because you can throw it on in the morning and be comfortable all day long. It also comes in black and rust. It’s $22.99.

    That’s it for today.

Have a good Friday and a nice long weekend when you can just be at home with your family like that isn’t what we’ve already been doing for the last two months.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition how’s everybody doing?

    Well.

We have all basically been living in this weird new universe for over two months. And this week I actually had a mammogram, a dentist appointment, a doctor’s appointment and got my eyebrows waxed. The weird thing is how weird it feels to be back out in the real world. While wearing a mask. And seeing everyone else wearing masks.

And is it just me or does the mask make anyone else feel like they can’t see? I walked around Target today for a good hour just trying to get my bearings and figure out where everything was even though it’s the exact same Target I’ve been to 1052 times.

Also, I’m going to be a part of this fun event tonight, Friday May 15 at 7:00 p.m. CST.

You can register here and then just use this link to join live a little before 7:00. It should be a lot of fun if you happen to find yourself at home tonight which is basically all of us.

Anyway, here are some cute things I found online this week:

    1. bp cozy top

I love this set from BP. It’s soft and cozy, yet lightweight enough to wear now that it’s warming up outside. The top is $39 and it comes in several other color options.

These are the matching bp jogger pants

They are $39 and also come in several color options. Perfect as a set or as individual pieces depending on your personal preference.

    2. universal thread midi dress

I love this dress. It’s soft, it’s flattering and it can be dressed up or down. It comes in camo, black and several other options and is just $20.

    3. on the upward beach blue hoodie

If you still don’t own a tie-dye sweatshirt in some form, have you even lived through this pandemic? This one is $42 and I love the blue theme.

    4. hi sugarplum cavallo ruffle neck date dress

This is such a great dress for summer just in case you have anywhere to go at any point. It’s $69 and comes in several color options, including a basic black that is a perfect little black dress.

    5. vintage queen t-shirt

I love a vintage looking t-shirt to wear with my joggers or my denim cut offs during the summer. Amazon has a ton of options, but I’m really drawn to this Queen one ast the moment. It’s just $19.99 and comes in several color options.

One of these t-shirts with a kimono over it with jeans or shorts is the perfect boho outfit.

    6. oversized fashion sunglasses

I bought these a year ago and they are almost perfect dupes for the Celine glasses that are about $350. These are just $10.95 and are so sturdy.

    7. progressive clear blue light reading glasses

I’ve never worn my readers more than I have during this time because I’m always home and either reading or on my computer. I love these clear frames with progressive lenses so I can alternate between looking down at my computer and watching T.V. Plus, they are blue light so they help with eye strain.

    They are $22.99.

    8. universal thread sleeveless tank dress

I ran in Target today and nearly bought this dress, but stopped myself because I just don’t need another dress right now. This comes in several color options but this blue is so gorgeous in person and the perfect color for summer.

Best of all, it’s just $15.

    9. quay stop and stare sunglasses

I bought these sunglasses about two months ago and they are my new favorite pair. I love the retro 70s look of them and that they’re a good tint but not too dark. Plus, they are aviator-esque but a little more square which looks better on my face.

    They are $65.

    10. loft chambray square neck flounce dress

I think this is the cutest little chambray dress. I love that the straps are wide enough for a regular bra and the little flounce at the bottom. It would look cute with white sneakers or dressed up with wedge sandals.

It’s normally $80 but everything at Loft is 40% off with code TREAT at checkout.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Big Boo Cast: Episode 184

This episode feels momentous to me because right before we recorded it, I had just had a complete overhaul of my sub-par internet situation by the best AT&T technician of all time. When I tell you that Juan is the MVP of AT&T, I am not even exaggerating. He immediately realized the source of all my internet woes and fixed them. And all these days later? THEY ARE STILL FIXED. Juan is the sole reason that I didn’t break up with AT&T forever this week. He gave me hope and high speed internet and new remote controls that actually pair with my television. In other words, we should all be more like Juan.

We also discuss Sophie’s calf and the wonders of the peanut ball rehab method.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition I don’t even know anymore

This is normally where I’d write something funny about being quarantined and wearing a face mask and all that, but I don’t have it in me today. It’s been a long week and I miss real life and real activities and real things.

All that to say, here are some cute things I found today.

    1. embroidered mini-dress

This is so darling and I would’ve totally ordered it to wear to a Cinco de Mayo party if that was actually a thing that happened. But it’s a super cute dress for summer and I love that it’s lined so you don’t have to worry about it being see through.

It’s $99 but you can get $15 off your first purchase when you sign up for emails.

    2. long kimono robe

So Chrissy Teigen has worn a variety of beautiful silk robes throughout quarantine, which is almost the same as me as long as you substitute “sweatshirt” for “silk robe”. However, she inspired me to find a silk robe and I found this gorgeous robe on Amazon for $29.99.

First, you need to know it’s not actually silk, but it still feels soft and pretty. Second, it is absolutely gorgeous in person and the perfect lightweight robe for summer. Third, it comes in several beautiful color options.

    3. dialed in bright cobalt dress

I think this dress is so cute and I love this color. I’m a little concerned about the length, but I’m thinking it’s kind of adjustable since it has an elastic slouchy waist. Truth be told, I would probably order it for Caroline and not for me.

    It’s $49.

    4. alexander + david casual loose fit jumper

I bought this a couple of summers ago and basically wore it out. It’s as soft as pajamas and can be dressed up or down and you can always add a t-shirt or tank under it or it looks great with a denim jacket over it.

    It’s $28.95.

    5. a new day tank top

Speaking of tank tops, these are from Target and my favorite. They’re just a little flowy so you can wear them alone or layered under something.

They are $8.00 and come in several color options.

    6. daily ritual jersey muscle swing dress

I bought this in black and gray last summer and they were essentially my summer uniform. They are super soft and the perfect thing to wear all day on a hot summer day. I have the black in a small and the gray in a medium. Both fit, but I’d err on the side of sizing up if you order a lighter color. They are $17.

    7. gingham face masks

I never thought I would be posting face masks on Fashion Friday but the reality is we all need one right now because certain places require them. These are $14 and come in several colors and patterns. I liked the gingham for summer.

    8. aerie oversized corded sweatshirt

This is a great, lightweight oversized sweatshirt that works well with leggings. It’s on sale for $34.96 and comes in several color options.

    9. tie dye sleep set

I think this is so cute and it’s just $25.98 for the set.

    10. old navy tunic tee

I bought this tee in white and black a few weeks ago and they are my new favorite. They are super soft and look great with leggings, joggers, and I’m assuming jeans. I personally haven’t worn jeans in two months. But they can easily be dressed up or down and are on sale for $20.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Big Boo Cast: Episode 183

In this episode we share some graduation gift ideas for the kids in your life who are graduating even if they can’t walk the stage. We also talk about the status of my quarantine face peel and Sophie’s unfortunate calf injury. Basically, I’m not a doctor but I play one on the podcast.
