  • Big Boo Cast: Episode 182

In this episode, we discuss that Sophie made a roasted chicken and has inspired me to do the same even with all my chicken issues. We also talk about various things we are watching to fill the time during these days of pandemonium.

And, most importantly, we talk about gift idea for Mother’s Day because the children will not be making crafts at school this year and it is also hard to venture into a store. Thus, shipping is your friend but you better order it soon.

    We hope you enjoy!

  • Fashion Friday: Edition what looks best with a face mask?

    So.

    Here we are.

But if we’re going to find a bright side, then let’s think about this. If we spend the summer wearing face masks and sunglasses, we may get away with not wearing makeup for months.

And it’s kind of hard to think about clothes or what to wear when we are literally all dressed up with nowhere to go. However, I tried to add in a couple of things this week that aren’t just sweatpants.

Here are the things I found this week.

    1. steve madden travel tan sandals

I got these sandals before the pandemic and was really excited to wear them this spring and summer. I do plan to still wear them, but $80.95 Steve Madden is offering 40% off sitewide with the code SPRINGNOW at checkout and they have so many cute shoes right now.

    2. h&m jersey t-shirt dress

I’ve decided that once the weather warms up for good that I’m shifting from sweatpants to t-shirt dresses. This one is just $17.99.

    3. h&m linen blend wrap skirt

I love a skirt in the summer. This one could be dressed up or down depending on what you want. It’s $29.99 and also comes in a blue and white pattern.

    4. kaya peasant blouse

This is the prettiest top and would look so cute with white jeans or denim shorts. It’s on sale for $89.95 plus an additional 25% off all sale at Anthropologie right now.

    5. good morning white top

This is a great not so basic white top for spring and summer. You could wear it with joggers, shorts or a skirt. It’s $32.

    6. on the other side desert sage pants

I love a wide-legged pant and these are super cute. They are $42.

    7. universal thread sleeveless midi dress

This is another great dress that could be a sweatpant alternative. It feels like wearing pajamas, but looks like you put some effort into it. It’s $20 and comes in several color options.

    8. universal thread short sleeve t-shirt dress

And yet one more t-shirt dress. I actually bought this one in February and really love it. It’s a slim enough fit that it’s flattering, but still doesn’t really touch your body which is a summer requirement for clothing for me. It’s $15 and comes in several color options.

    9. brinaa sandal

I think these are so cute and will look great with all my t-shirt dresses. They are $42.

    10. vans classic slip ons

I have a pair of Vans with a tropical floral print that I bought several years ago and I still wear them all the time. They are so comfortable and look great with everything from joggers to t-shirt dresses. Which, as I may have mentioned are my two wardrobe staples right now. These are $54.95.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition day 465 of quarantine

    I don’t even have words.

Thank you and good day to you, sir.

Except for this. Two Funny Girls is one of my very favorite online shops because they have darling styros, gifts and other monogrammed/personalized items. And right now they are your best bet for graduation gifts. Because these poor high school seniors deserve some great gifts now more than ever as they’ve already lost prom and ceremonies and all the other rights of passage that should belong to them.

Look at these darling notecards and notepads.

They have these with all manner of university skylines and I think they are the perfect gift. Best of all, from now through April 24th you can get 20% off any personalized college skyline notecards or notepad with the code GRADGIFT at checkout!

Just click here to see all your options.

Now for some cute things I found this week while I was home doing nothing except watching Netflix.

    1. barefoot dreams silk pajama set

Listen. This set is $145. Is that pricey? Yes. Do we deserve pricey loungewear in the midst of a pandemic? Probably.

It also comes in a rose color and it looks so comfortable that I can hardly stand it.

    2. vintage yellow hoodie

If there was ever a time you needed another hoodie, this is that time. It’s $42.

    3. jockey women’s retro vibes jogger pajama pants

These have almost all 5 star reviews which is no small feat on Target. I naturally ordered them immediately because they are $22 and the reviews made me feel like my life was incomplete without them.

I now live in a world where pajama pants and joggers are all the same thing and completely interchangeable.

    4. floral bohemian midi dress

In case you’re wanting to step it up and do this pandemic like Mrs. Roper would, this darling house dress is just $27.99. It comes in a bunch of color choices and is basically a great looking nightgown.

    5. summer maxi dress with pockets

Y’all. This. I have three of these in solid colors but this tie-dye is everything. It’s $23.98. It also comes in solid colors and other patterns and you can wear it with sneakers, sandals or house shoes. No one can judge you right now. Mainly because no one sees you right now.

    6. treasure and bond gauzy tunic shirt

This is a great tunic top and it’s on sale for $27.60. You could wear it as a swimsuit coverup to the Amazon blow up pool that you bought for your backyard or you could wear it over leggings. Either way.

    7. vintage feel midrise boyfriend shorts

I don’t have a picture of these and I can’t remember why right now. These are great basic denim cut off shorts if you need such a thing. They have zero stretch and feel like the denim cut off shorts of ye olden days.

I ordered the light ripped wash and love the faded look. But I will tell you to order your true size because they are already a little oversized to begin with.

    8. swimsuit coverup/beach throw

I have a wrap like this that I bought from J.Crew a million years ago, but I still wear it every summer. It looks great thrown on over a swimsuit and it’s on sale for just $17.60.

    9. altered goat tie-dye crewneck sweatshirt

I had really been wanting a tie-dyed sweatshirt and I found this one on Etsy. It’s super soft and the perfect tie-dye. I ordered a large because I wanted it oversized and it’s perfect. It’s $38 and comes in several tie-dye color options.

    10. hometop cozy knit houseshoes

These are basically my new shoes now. They are $19.99 and come in several color options. They are comfortable, not too hot and hold up well even though I wear them out in the yard and to take out the trash. Don’t hate me because my life is glamorous.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • The Big Boo Cast, Episode 180

In this episode, Sophie and I talk about the things that are helping us get through our current pandemic situation. Please note that I didn’t mention wine. That’s because the wine is implied when I say “pandemic situation”.

  • In lieu of Fashion Friday

I never post Fashion Friday on Good Friday because it just seems kind of wrong, especially this year. If we ever needed reminder that light always overcomes the darkness, it’s now.

This song has been on repeat for me since I first heard it back in January and I hope it encourages you today.

I know this Easter will be unlike any we’ve ever had, but I also believe none of this caught God by surprise. He is always making a way.

Sending so much love to all of you. Happy Easter!

  • Fashion Friday: Edition I remembered it was Friday

A few of you (like two) emailed me last week and said, “Please don’t quit doing Fashion Friday” because I hadn’t done Fashion Friday. But I had a good reason. I lost track of my days of the week and didn’t realize it was Friday. This is a side effect of the quarantine/stay at home/shelter in place/groundhog day reality we are all living in right now.

If you’re like me then you really have no idea what day it is from day to day unless you look at a calendar or if it’s April 1 and you realize it’s April Fools Day because everyone on your social media thinks it’s funny to tell their kids they have to repeat a grade next year but your nerves are frayed and you find none of it funny or amusing because these kids are dealing with enough disappointment right now without thinking they have to repeat their senior year of high school.

I’m not sure if you can tell but this has all given me a lot of feelings.

Also, if you’re like me then real pants aren’t a life choice you’re currently making and you’ll worry about your real pants situation when we’re allowed to leave the house again.

Here are a few cute things I found this week while I sat at home for the 400th day in a row.

    1. universal thread jogger pants

These have been the winner of the Coronavirus pandemic for me. I ordered them online from Target and they are everything I needed them to be and, thankfully, I’d found toilet paper at HEB earlier in the week so they didn’t have to rise to that occasion.

They are french terry on the inside so a great lightweight jogger option now that the weather is warmer. And they are just $20. I ordered a small and am normally a 4-6 in pants and they fit perfectly.

    2. j.crew embroidered puff sleeve top

This top is ambitious for these days but I’m believing that summer days will be our gateway to being able to do things like eat in restaurants again. It’s on sale for $65 and it also comes in white and yellow or navy and white. J.Crew has 40% off everything with the code SPRING at checkout right now so it’s a great time to stock up on basics or anything else you’ve had your eye on.

    3. spirit of ’76 tee

T-shirts are my best friend right now because they can live in my closet and I see them every day. I just really like the retro feel of this one and this store has a bunch of cute t-shirt options. This one is $28.

    4. junk gypsy take the bull by the horns tee

Speaking of cute t-shirts, I am always a sucker for a new Junk Gypsy tee. This one is $34.95.

    5. blank nyc boyfriend denim shorts

These are my very favorite denim shorts. And I’ll let you in on a secret. They come with that cuff, but I cut the part where the hem was sewed in which made them a little longer and also true cutoff shorts which is what I wanted. I love them because they have a ton of stretch and are super soft. They are on sale for $45.56 which is a great deal.

I ordered another brand of denim shorts a few weeks ago that were much more expensive and immediately sent them back because nothing I’ve tried is as good as these.

    6. flying varsity crewneck sweatshirt

I’m worried that all the tie-dye stuff is one day going to just serve to remind me of the Coronavirus pandemic. Is it just coincidence that tie-dye became a big trend right as we went into quarantine? Maybe.

All that being said, I’m thankful it’s given us cute sweatshirt options during these times and this one is on sale for $60.90 and I love the color combo. It would look perfect with the Universal Thread joggers from Target I featured up top.

If you had told me in 2019 that I’d be spending a good part of 2020 wearing various sweatsuits around the house like I’m Rocky Balboa, I wouldn’t have believed you. Yet here we are.

    7. old navy running shorts

I love these running shorts from Old Navy. They are super soft and comfortable and perfect for walking around the neighborhood on warm days which is what I do for fun these days. They are on sale for $14.

    8. old navy tunic tee

I saw these tunic tees on sale and immediately ordered two of them. The length is perfect for leggings and a v-neck is just universally flattering. I love that you can wear them as a layer under something or just by themselves. Right now, it’s 50% off everything at Old Navy so a great time to stock up on basics.

    9. gap overalls

Last week I did an instagram story wearing some Gap overalls I bought a few years ago. Several people asked about them which basically validated my decision to wear overalls again. Although, now that I think about it, maybe I took their inquiries as a compliment and it was really more of a judgement. Whatever.

Gap has these overalls right now and they normally $89.95 but it’s 50% off everything at Gap right now. Pro tip: I ordered a tall size in mine because things like this tend to be too short through the torso for me and the tall size gives you a little more room.

    10. steve madden rezza white sneakers

I adore these Rezza sneakers and they have been my go-to when I actually put on real shoes these days to make my weekly trip to HEB. They are so comfortable and 35% off with code SPRINGNOW at checkout along with a lot of other spring and summer shoe options.

    That’s it for today.

Stay safe, wash your hands, have a good Friday.
