Well, May is here and it has started off as busy and chaotic as usual. I think I’d blocked out how busy May can be and I basically feel like my whole life right now is summed up by this phrase I keep repeating, “Once I get finished with _______, then life will slow down a little bit.” Except that I get finished with whatever that thing was only to remember there’s another thing on my calendar.

All that to say, I’m a terrible blogger right now. It’s just hard to find the time and/or the energy because I’m too busy trying to find things that aren’t stale or expired to pack in Caroline’s lunch.

Maybe next week will be better.

In the meantime, here are some cute things I found this week:

1. ruffled poplin blouse

I have featured this top before and now it’s on sale for $39.95 and it also comes in royal blue and white.

2. drawstring v-neck jersey dress

This maxi dress comes in several color options and I love that it’s an easy thing to just put on with sandals or flip flops. It could even be a swimsuit coverup.

3. eliza j maxi dress

I have nowhere to wear a long white lace maxi dress but I wish I did. This is gorgeous and I love the bohemian feel.

4. halogen v-neck shift dress

Apparently this is the week of the dress. This one is cute and comes in several color and pattern options. I like a simple dress like this because you can dress it up or down depending on what you need and even throw a linen blazer over it for the office.

5. gap flutter sleeve peplum top

This is already sold out in several sizes, but it comes in coral, white and black and I adore it. You may want to consider ordering it in the Tall size depending on how tall you are. It’s so pretty!

6. stripe sundress

I keep seeing dresses like this and I love them every time.

7. havana geo shift dress

This is another great shift dress. It also comes in a bright coral color.

8. muster the length maxi dress

Speaking of coral, how gorgeous is this? I love the pattern and the bright colors.

9. lace sheath dress

So I was watching a show on T.V. and one of the characters had on a bright yellow dress and it kind of made me wish I had a bright yellow dress. I searched on Nordstrom and then fell in love with this. It’s a great dress for a summer wedding.

10. ruffle sleeve tee

I was hesitant about all the ruffles, but I have to admit this tee is really cute. It also comes in a olive-ish green and a light peach. It’s simple but makes a great outfit when paired with shorts or jeans.

This is going to be a quick Fashion Friday because I’m a little tired and need to get to bed. But I am inordinately proud of myself for calling it gingham style because, while not everything is gingham today, there is a lot of gingham. Gingham is a big thing right now.

Here are a few cute things I found this week:

1. gingham skirted top

I love this top. It also comes in black, but the gingham is perfect for summer and would look so good with white jeans or shorts or a white denim skirt.

2. j.crew stripe shirtdress

I bought a shirt made out of this material last summer and it is still one of my favorites. This picture doesn’t really do this justice but I love these J.Crew shirt dresses and this stripe is perfect for summer.

3. plaid tie front blouse

I keep seeing this shirt and I love it every time. It would look great with shorts or white jeans now and denim and boots in the fall.

4. j.crew mixed gingham shirt

More gingham. I know. But look how bright and fun these colors are. This is perfect to go with denim shorts or white jeans this summer.

5. superga gingham sneakers

I am in love with these. The end.

6. j.crew pom pom tunic

This could make a really cute top or a swimsuit coverup. It hits below the hip and also comes in navy. The reviews say it runs large so you may want to keep that in mind.

7. dawson oversize faux leather shopper

If you’re looking for a moderately priced, simple bag, this is a good choice. I love that it looks like the Madewell Transport tote but at half the price.

8. crispin drop earrings

I keep seeing these earrings and I love them every time. They come in a lot of color choices and would make a great Mother’s Day gift.

I also love these vivian tassel drops.

9. old navy printed pin tuck swing dress

These pin tuck swing dresses are a great price and great for summer. They come in several color options but I’m partial to this green and blue.

10. chinese laundry embellished lace up sandal

These embellished sandals are a lot of look, but I think they are so cute and fun for summer. And these are pretty reasonably priced. They can take any outfit up a couple of notches.

So here are some cute things I found this week:

1. ruffle sleeve blouse

Gulley and I ran into Nordstrom this week because I had to pick up a dress for Caroline. I tried to not look to the right or the left so as to not be tempted, but I accidentally looked up and saw this top with these darling ruffle sleeves. It was like a beacon. I love the vibrant blue but also comes in coral and a kelly green print. This would be perfect with white jeans.

2. free people stripe tee

This Free People tee is on sale and I love it because it’s a little bit retro.

3. old navy wide leg linen blend pants

Old Navy has these wide leg linen-blend pants and every year I love them. I especially love this striped version but they also come in solids if you like that better. They are so inexpensive that you could even get a pair to wear as a swimsuit coverup.

4. bahamas flats

I adore the scalloped detail on these because it makes them just a little bit different than some of the other versions. These also come in black if you like that better, but I’m a big fan of the blush.

5. denim pencil skirt

Denim skirts are a big trend right now. It brings me back to my sophomore year in high school when my favorite outfit was my Guess denim miniskirt with a Guess sweatshirt and my white Reebok high-tops. It was as great as what you’re envisioning, complete with a spiral perm.

This version of the denim skirt is great because it’s a little longer than what I owned in 1987. It’s 21 inches long.

This j.crew raw hem denim miniskirt is a little bit different if you want something a little bit shorter.

It’s 16 1/2 inches long.

And I love this white peyton frayed denim skirt and it would look great with so many different tops.

It’s 18 inches long just so you can get an idea if it will work for you. I love the idea of this with just a simple t-shirt and some sneakers.

6. violet ray kourtney cross body bag

This cross body bag is so cute and it also comes in a dark gray.

7. lula block heel

We’ve spent the last few weeks looking for dressy sandals for Caroline. Does this sound easy because it has been the opposite of that. However, my extensive shoe research has led me to determine that this minimalist style heel is the shoe of the season. Every designer has some version of this sandal right now, but this one is a reasonable price point and the heel is just high enough without being too high. It comes in a bunch of different colors, including gold and silver if you need something that will go with various outfits.

8. topshop stud gladiator sandals

These studded gladiators are also a big trend right now and this Toyshop version is just $48 which is much better than the $500 Valentino version. These also come in black and look cuter on than they do in pictures.

As for me, I am loving these birkenstock mayori sandals that I bought a few weeks ago. I wear them non-stop and I’ve actually decided they are really cute and not just comfortable. Maybe I’m kidding myself but I don’t care.

9. washed v-neck tee

Summer is the perfect time for just simple t-shirts and these BP tees are great. They are just $17, have a great rounded hem, a good length and come in lots of colors.

10. loft fan lace shift dress

In case you’re looking for a good dress for a summer wedding or other social engagement, I think this shift dress is really pretty. This is the navy and but it also comes in green. It would look great with the nude version of those BP heels featured up above.

This is going to be quick because I want to post it on Thursday night and then spend the rest of the weekend celebrating Easter with my people.

But I want to tell you about one of my favorite discoveries of the year. Look at these gorgeous tops and dresses.

Gingham is a huge trend right now and this is a great top that would go with everything from shorts to jeans.

It’s hard to beat the versatility of a basic white tunic. You can wear it by itself, over leggings, or with jeans.

I featured these last week but hadn’t gotten my pair in until today. Here’s the verdict: They are great and exactly like all the 501 cutoff shorts I’ve had over the years. I love that they already look worn in and love the button fly. I ordered two sizes up to give them more of a slouchy boyfriend feel, but that’s just my personal preference.
