  • Big Boo Cast: Episode 168

In this episode, I sound like a five pack a day smoker because I am currently dealing with a cold. We talk about the drink that’s helping me get through it along with the current situation with the Royal Family, mascara and various other things.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition I have two new books coming out next month

So I had a big announcement this week that you may have already seen if you’ve checked your email and/or follow me on Instagram. I have not one, but TWO books coming out on February 25th. I just want to make sure you know about them and that they both come with their own set of pre-order incentives if you order before the release date.

The first one is a book for women of all ages and is called On the Bright Side.

It’s all about friendship, love, life and being true to who God created you to be. I recorded the audio version of it about a month ago and, even though I wrote it, I made my own self laugh and cry. Maybe that’s weird but I’m taking it as a sign of how much I love this book and how much I believe life is better when we look for the bright side.

You can find out more about On the Bright Side here, including pre-order incentives like a download of me speaking, a discussion guide, and a 20% discount from Milk and Honey tees. Plus, you get the first three chapters immediately if you pre-order.

The other book is my very first children’s picture book and it’s called Piper and Mabel.

I’m happy to say that it is based on the real story of how Piper and Mabel are incapable of staying at any sort of doggy daycare and includes some original haikus by Mabel.

You can find out more about pre-order incentives, including coloring pages and an activity kit for Piper and Mabel here.

And we are currently working on putting a launch team together to help spread the word about the books. If you’re interested in being a part of that, you can submit your information here.

Finally, let me just say thank you for all the kind words and excitement and support. Launching a book out into the world is always such a vulnerable thing and y’all continue to be the very best readers and cheerleaders. You are all my Jerry. (That’s a reference to Cheer on Netflix in case you haven’t watched.)

Now, here are some cute things I found this week:

    1. edie v-neck sherpa pullover

This is such a great deal on this sherpa pullover. It’s super soft and would be great to just wear around the house or to throw on with jeans or after a workout.

It’s on sale for $49.95 plus an additional 40% off all sale items at Anthropologie.

    2. crewneck heart sweater

I think this sweater is darling and it’s just $28. It comes in several color options and is perfect for Valentine’s Day. The reviews say it runs large so you may want to keep that in mind, but I like that it appears to be long enough to wear with leggings.

    3. ursa cardigan

I love a good cardigan, especially a white one for spring. This one is on sale for $89.95 plus an additional 40% off all sale items at Anthropologie. It also comes in light gray and burnt orange.

    4. knit oversize pullover sweater

This is another great sweater from Amazon for just $28.99 It comes in several color options and I love that it’s lightweight because it is currently 78 degrees in January while I write this. I need a sweater that doesn’t necessarily feel sweater-y if that makes sense.

    Also, I adore these sleeves.

    5. carter plaid teddy coat

I do not need this coat. See above comment about it being 78 degrees in January. But I want this coat because it is darling and would complete me. Someone please buy it so I can live vicariously through you.

It’s on sale for $149.95 plus an additional 40% off all sale items at Anthropologie.

    6. old navy french terry pullover tunic hoodie

I have this exact hoodie and I love it. It’s the perfect length to wear with leggings. I love the scallop detail on the front. It’s warm without being heavy and it’s on sale for $40.

It comes in several color options.

    7. rosa layered necklace

This pretty layered necklace is perfect for Valentine’s Day and really any time. It’s on sale for $39.95 plus an additional 40% off all sale items at Anthropologie.

I also love these j.crew heart stud earrings.

    They are just $11.00.

And these j.crew heart hoop earrings are another fun option.

    They are $14.50.

And if you just want something simple, this j.crew heart pendant necklace is perfect.

    It’s on sale for $16.

    8. always out and about white top

I love a great white top to transition to spring and summer. I know it’s only January but did I mention it’s 78 degrees? This one is $44 and I think it’s so cute.

    9. superga embroidered star sneakers

It’s hard for me to resist cute sneakers in any form or fashion. These gold stars have my heart. They are $79.

    10. crz yoga quick-dry running shorts

A few months ago, I found leggings on Amazon that I felt were a great Lululemon dupe, but wondered if I might be able to find shorts that would be comparable to Lululemon because it feels ridiculous to pay $60 for that small amount of fabric. I’m happy to say that these shorts are really good and just $24. These are 4-inch inseam because that’s my preference, but they have a 2.5 inch inseam if you are brave and/or have great legs.

Oh, and they come in tons of color options.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Big Boo Cast: Episode 167

In this episode we break down the Royal Family and all the current turmoil within the walls of Buckingham Palace. I have some thoughts.

We also discuss Cheer on Netflix and how it has become our new obsession and we’d like to become best friends with Monica.

And, finally, we talk about Travis Cottrell’s new album, Spirit Rise. It is just so good and I can’t recommend it enough.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition this is 2020

    via GIPHY

Yep. It’s officially a new decade.

So far I have spent it like I spent the end of the last decade which is to say I’ve been in my pajamas watching Netflix. Better to start small and then lead up to bigger and better things.

I hope you all had a great Christmas and a good start to a new year. Here are some cute things I found in case you have some Christmas money to spend.

    1. cressida wool sweater coat

Anthropologie has a ton of cute stuff on sale right now plus an additional 40% off. This coat is one of my personal favorites and I tend to believe no one does a sweater coat as well as Anthropologie.

This is on sale for $119.95 but an extra 40% off.

    2. adidas ultraboost 19 running shoes

I’ve been waiting on these shoes to go on sale because I need new running shoes and these are super comfortable. I know that because of all the times I’ve tried them on and then decided not to pay full price. Of course now that I’ve ordered them, I’m going to have to follow up on my promise to myself to actually run in them. So that’s a bummer.

These are normally $180 but on sale for $120.60. If you don’t like this color combo, you may want to look for them other places online because this version is on sale at a lot of retailers.

    3. gibson cozy tunic

This tunic is truly one of the softest things ever and a great length to wear with leggings. It’s on sale for $40.20 and comes in several color options.

    4. ugg melrose shearling booties

These are a great alternative to tall Ugg boots if those are too bulky for you. I really like these and they are on sale for $99.90. They also come in black.

    5. marisa ribbed tunic

I really like the sleeves on this tunic. It’s on sale for $59.95 plus an additional 40% off.

    6. harper swing top

Talulah is one of my favorite online places to shop these days because they have cute clothes and great prices. This top is $36. It also comes in taupe.

    7. h&m ribbed sweater

This is a great sweater and just $29.99. It also comes in ivory.

    8. colorfulkoala buttery soft leggings

If you have a New Year’s resolution to work out more, then I highly recommend these leggings. They are my new favorites and I wear them when I’m working out and when I’m just doing things like trying to get the lights off my Christmas tree. They are buttery soft, yet flattering.

They are $22.99. For size reference, I wear a small so I would say they are true to size.

    9. feiersi off shoulder pullover sweater

I ordered this sweater in a moment of desperation because I bought a new skirt and didn’t have a sweater to go with it. This is the beauty of Amazon Prime. I figured it would be decent enough and then it came in and I was pleasantly surprised by it. I ordered a medium and it can definitely be worn on the shoulder if you prefer that.

It’s $25.99 and comes in several color options.

    10. kendra scott lynne hoop earrings

I think these are so pretty if you’re looking for a good pair of hoops. They are $38.98 and normally $78 but 50% off.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition it’s almost Christmas

    Well.

We are less than a week away from Christmas. Which is just crazy. And I’m kind of sad that it’s almost already over. It’s like Thanksgiving being later than usual robbed me of a week of pre-Christmas anticipation.

But most of my gifts are bought (Thanks, Amazon Prime!) and about 62% of them are wrapped and I plan to get to the rest by the end of the weekend. Then I need to focus on all the Christmas things I need to make, like Chex Mix, ice box pudding, and I can’t even remember what else because I haven’t made a list yet.

Anyway, here are some cute things I found this week just in case you’re buying your own Christmas presents or find yourself with a little cash to burn after Christmas is over.

    1. galene embroidered tunic

I went in Anthropologie this week to return a top that sadly didn’t work out for me. And I naturally looked through their sale room because it is my kryptonite.

This darling dress is on sale for $99.95 plus an additonal 30% off all sale merchandise at Anthropologie. It is so much prettier in person and it also comes in plus sizes.

    2. anything you say coral maxi dress

Speaking of pretty dresses, I love this one. It’s hard for me to resist a good boho maxi type dress. This one is $76.

    3. livingston chenille sweater

Chenille sweaters are another thing that I find impossible to resist. They are just so soft. This one is $39.

    It also comes in charcoal

    4. aerie chenille oversized hooded sweater

See? Another chenille sweater. But this one has a hood so it’s totally different. And it’s on sale for $21.98.

It comes in several colors but this lilac is really pretty.

    5. aerie babe chenille turtleneck

And yet one more. Chenille sweaters for everyone! This one is $21.98 and also comes in several color options.

Maybe you’re wondering how many chenille sweaters you need? I can’t answer that for you, but maybe at least one more?

    6. blankNYC faux leather moto jacket

This is my jacket that I’ve had for about two years and I still love it so much. It’s always been a good deal but now it’s on sale for $59.98.

    7. kut from the kloth catherine boyfriend jeans

I ordered a pair of these jeans from Nordstrom Rack a few weeks ago because I really wanted a pair of boyfriend jeans and hadn’t been able to find any that fit the way I wanted them to. These are perfect and a great deal for just $39.97.

I sized up one size to give them a little bit of a slouchy fit because that’s what I really wanted.

    8. zella power up cozy shearling pullover

This is a great sherpa pullover from Zella and perfect for running around town or throwing on after a workout when it’s cold outside. It’s just $29.97. And it also comes in several other color options.

    9. high-waisted sequin leggings

I’ve debated getting these leggings and then a friend of mine texted me the other day to tell me she’d bought them and they felt like pajamas, yet much cuter and dressier. They would be a great New Year’s Eve option if you needed something a little fancy. I’d wear them with a long black sweater or top.

They are currently 50% off and on sale for $39.95.

    10. nike epic react flyknit sneakers

These are great running shoes and on sale for $99.90. They come in several other color options and I’m really loving the bright pink.

    That’s it for today.

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas filled with love and family and friends and Chex Mix.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition while on the plane home from New Hampshire

This is where I need to tell you I am going on approximately an hour of sleep. I’ve been in Portsmouth, NH since Monday for a two-day speaking event and finished up late Wednesday night. The problem is it takes me forever to wind down after an event and so I don’t think I fell asleep until 3:30 a.m. early Thursday morning which meant I got a refreshing and restorative ONE HOUR of sleep before my alarm went off at 4:30 since Gulley and I had a 7:00 a.m. flight and an hour drive to the airport.

Obviously I am feeling great right now. But I’m on a plane and not in my bed and there is wi-fi to be had, so Fashion Friday might as well happen.

Here are some cute things I found this week:

    1. gorjana link linear drop earrings

I love these linear drops because they are a little different, but still a good basic. They are 50% off and on sale for $32.49 right now.

    2. ugg boot socks

P gave me a pair of these for Christmas last year and I wore them with my Uggs and other boots all last winter while I sat out in the cold watching Caroline play soccer. I brought them to New Hampshire this week and had forgotten how warm they keep my feet, plus the cuff top looks cute coming out of the top of my boots.

They are unbelievably soft and $29.50. They also come in black.

    3. shawna hacci sweater

This sweater has great reviews and I love the cut. It’s $78 but everything at Anthropologie is an additional 30% off through this weekend.

It also comes in blush and blue.

    4. bb dakota vegan fur coat

I saw this exact coat in a boutique in Portsmouth this week and it is so pretty in person. It could be worn with something as simple as jeans and a t-shirt or dressed up over a dress. It’s $108.

    5. pippa shirtdress

The color of this stopped me in tracks. It’s so beautiful and I have always had great luck with the Maeve brand at Anthropologie. It’s $148 but 30% off through the weekend.

It also comes in plus sizes.

    6. perfect time for love sweater

I love a green sweater for the holidays. It’s $52 and also comes in dusty blue and ivory.

    7. loft luxe v-neck tunic sweater

I’ve featured this before but it’s just a great basic piece that can be worn alone or as a layer under a jacket or sweater. It’s $59.50 but 40% off with code FLASH at checkout.

It comes in several color options.

    8. long sleeve sequin sweatshirt

I think for just $18.99 that this could be fun to have for Christmas and New Year’s Eve. You could dress it up with black skinny pants and heels or boots or you could throw it on with jeans and sneakers and be festive and casual.

    9. sorel cate waterproof bootie

I love these booties and they are on sale for $127.90. They also come in black and I wish I’d had them this week when I was walking out in the snow on the beach.

Yes. There was snow on the beach. It was amazing and part of why I’ve started my campaign to have a vacation home in New Hampshire.

    10. last to love cowl neck sweater

This cowl neck sweater is gorgeous in this red color and a great length to wear with leggings. It’s just $44.

It also comes in a ton of color options if red isn’t your thing.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.
