  • Big Boo Cast: Episode 172

In this episode I’ll go ahead and admit my energy level felt a little low. I’m about a week out from releasing a new book and I think that makes me distracted. However, we still managed to cover a lot of important topics, including chicken, what we are watching and reading, and beauty products.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition happy valentines day

That’s right. It’s Valentines Day. We have zero plans to celebrate other than having friends over for dinner and that’s because it’s Friday night and not because it’s Valentines Day.

I may also eat some chocolate. And maybe buy myself the earrings that show up later in this post.

Here are some things I found this week with the disclaimer that there just isn’t much out there because we are in between seasons and it’s a weird time to shop.

    1. natural sights overalls

I really like these and they come in several color options. They are a more feminine overall version and would look so cute with a tank or tee and sneakers or sandals. A perfect outfit to just run around in. They are $128 so I love them but will be waiting for a sale.

    2. joylab cozy jogger pants

I saw these at Target the other day and they are a great jogger option. I wear a small. They remind me of very similar ones at Lululemon except these are just $34.99.

    3. j.crew d-frame sunglasses

These are really cute sunglasses and on sale for $17.50.

    4. classic trench coat

You can’t beat a classic trench coat and this one is a great deal for $98.50.

    5. sky is the limit sandals

Love these sandals for summer. They come in several color options and are $26.

    6. tie-dye knit drawstring sweater

Tie dye is a huge trend right now and this is really cute and appears to be soft and long enough to wear with leggings. It’s $49.97 It also comes in pink

    7. reece gold hoop earrings

These are my favorite earrings I’ve seen in forever. I think they are perfect for spring and summer and the perfect pop of color to any outfit. They are $68.

    8. bp octagonal sunglasses

The BP brand at Nordstrom has an abundance of inexpensive, stylish sunglasses right now. These are just $19. I love a pair of sunglasses that don’t cause me stress.

    9. daily ritual terry cotton sweatshirt

Anyone else remember the SNL skit with Adam Sandler when he sings the Red Hooded Sweatshirt song? This is like that. I enjoy a hooded sweatshirt. This comes in several color options and is around $16 depending on color and size.

    10. adidas ultraboost running shoes

I bought a pair of these Ultraboost running shoes on sale after Christmas and they are my favorite workout shoes I’ve ever owned. They fit my feet perfectly and are so comfortable. I highly recommend if you’re in the market for a new pair of running shoes. They are pricey at $180 but you might be able to find last year’s version on sale.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition we have had winter and summer in one week

    Listen.

I have lived in Texas all my life. I am aware that we have crazy weather fluctuations. But this week we have managed to cram in all the seasons in the span of three days.

Monday was about 75 degrees and felt like spring. I spent Tuesday in Austin and it was 85 degrees and felt like early summer. And then it actually SNOWED on Wednesday night. I mean it was like fourteen snowflakes, but still. SNOW.

So today’s post is basically a mix of clothes that will carry you through all of the above because weather is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get. (Until it’s summer in Texas and then you just know you’re getting HOT.)

Here are a few cute things I found this week:

    1. paloma knit tunic

This sweater tunic has great reviews and it’s on sale for $59.95 plus an extra 25% off. It also comes in gray and black. The reviews do say that this red isn’t so much a red as it is a rust color so keep that in mind.

Either way, I love the length, the sleeves and the fact that you can wear it with leggings.

    2. isadora button back tunic

This darling shirt has great reviews and it’s on sale for $59.95 plus an extra 25% off. It comes in several different color variations, but please not that it is dry clean only.

However, I think it’s worth it because these are some great color options that will easily take you into spring and summer.

    3. candice bell-sleeved sweater

I think this is so pretty and it’s on sale for $89.95 plus an extra 25% off.

    4. nike daybreak sneakers

I love a retro sneaker and these are perfection. They come in several color options, but I love this for spring and summer. They are $90.

    5. vince camuto catheryna bootie

These booties are so great and I love the pointier toe, plus I’ve been needing a higher heel bootie in a brown color.

Even better, these were originally $139.95 but now 60% off and just $55.98. They also come in black leather.

    6. wouldn’t change this light midi skirt

How cute is this skirt? I think it would be perfect with a white top or sweater for Easter and could even just be casual with a t-shirt and a denim jacket.

It comes in blue or a pretty peach pink and is $48.

    7. oversized fashion sunglasses

I bought these last year and wear them all the time. I love the low pressure of a pair of sunglasses that are only $10.95. And they are almost perfect Celine knock-offs which would be about $300 more expensive.

    8. befanni platform slide sandals

These sandals are everything I love in a sandal. They have a platform that gives height but is still functional. I love the woven detail and the various color combinations. They are $99.95.

    9. ruffle edges sleeveless black dress

This is a great basic black dress that could easily be dressed up or down. It’s $46.

    10. so much love jumpsuit

This jumpsuit looks like perfection if you love the idea of a jumpsuit that can be dressed up or down. It’s $44 and also comes in black or navy.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition January is finally over

I don’t know about y’all, but January is the longest year I can remember.

The good news is we’re finally a day away from February which means all the Easter decorations and candy will be out in the stores by next week.

Here are some cute things I found this week:

    1. universal thread crewneck mini shirtdress

I love a t-shirt dress for the warmer months – also known as basically every month in San Antonio – and this one is really great. Thick enough to not be see through and fitted enough that it’s flattering yet doesn’t really touch any part of your body.

It’s $15 and it comes in several color options. You can wear it now with a jacket and boots and then wear it later with sneakers or sandals.

    2. most likely to stay home sweatshirt

This sweatshirt just called out to me because YES. It’s $51 and essentially sums me up.

    3. a new day swing tank top

This is a great top with a little more flair than just an average basic, yet can still function as a basic. It comes in several colors and is $12.99. It looks equally great layered under a jacket or sweater or just by itself.

    4. aerie twill utility overall

I don’t know why I can’t quit on an overall, but I love these. Just easy to throw on with a tank or t-shirt to run around on the weekend. Or the weekdays. Or whenever you want. These are on sale for $41.96 and come in a few color options.

    5. under wraps hi-low blouse

I think this lavender color is so pretty for spring and looks great paired with white jeans or even black jeans. It’s $32.

    6. twist front cap sleeve jumpsuit

I love a jumpsuit and this one looks really cute and comfortable. It’s $90 but I bet Loft has a sale pretty soon so it may be one to watch when that happens.

    7. ettika chain necklace

Chain necklaces are a big trend right now and this is a great one. It’s $45.

    8. shristi knot front dress

I have a jumpsuit that I bought from ABLE and it is a closet staple for me. This appears to be the dress version of that and is just a great basic black dress that can be dressed up or down. It’s $148.

    9. h&m chiffon dress

I cannot resist a kelly green dress for spring and summer. I adore the bright color and this style is so forgiving yet still pretty and flattering. This would look great paired with some simple wedges or flat sandals. It’s $49.99 and H&M has free shipping until Saturday, February 1st.

    10. popover blouse

This is a great top for the office, but would also look darling paired with jeans. It comes in black pattern as well. It’s $24.99.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition I’m tired of coughing

So I’ve had a cold that I think started on Friday, but I was in denial about it until Saturday night. And I’m almost at the end of it except for a cough that seems to want us to spend the rest of 2020 together.

What this means is that I have barely left my house all week and I’m one long beard away from being a complete hermit. However, it has given me time to watch The Morning Show with Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon so at least I’ve been productive.

Before we get to the things I found this week, I wanted to share this cute t-shirt that Mandy at Milk and Honey Tees designed in honor of On the Bright Side.

And when you pre-order a copy, you get a code for 20% off the Look On the Bright Side shirt (plus your entire Milk and Honey Tee order)

You can find out more about the book and/or pre-order here. There are other pre-order incentives and maybe you’re wondering why pre-ordering is such a big deal. I’m glad you asked.

Pre-orders help online and actual book stores know how much inventory they should keep in stock when the book releases and that’s a big deal. And if you order on Amazon, they offer a pre-order price guarantee so you’re not charged for the book until February 25th when it releases and you get it at the lowest price they offer between now and then.

Anyway, thanks for coming to my TED talk about book sales.

Here are some cute things I found this week while I was coughing and blowing my nose and drinking a lot of hot tea and cough syrup.

    1. known to be beautiful crochet top

This is a really pretty top that could be worn under a sweater or jacket now and then transition perfectly into spring and summer. It’s $34 and comes in several color options.

    2. old navy loose-fit french-terry crew neck

These are on sale at Old Navy right now and I immediately grabbed another one because I wear my black one all the time. It’s super soft, lightweight and it’s plenty long enough to wear with leggings.

It’s $24 and comes in several colors.

    3. chiffon blouse

This would be a great blouse for work or your other business and/or business casual needs. It’s $19.99 and it also comes in a houndstooth print.

    4. r. vivimos tassel bohemian midi dress

I love these bohemian midi dresses and I feel like it’s the kind of thing you could live in when the weather is warmer. Add a cute pair of sandals and you’re done.

It’s $28.88 and comes in several color and pattern options.

    5. tunic with pin-tucks

I love this deep green color and I love a tunic, especially one with pin tucks. This would be a great outfit paired with leggings and boots. It’s $24.99.

    6. crochet lace shirt

I don’t know anything about this shirt other than I think it looks really pretty and I am planning an outfit where I wear it with jeans and sandals. It’s $23.99 and most of the reviews suggest you size up. It’s also sheer so keep in mind it will need something under it.

    7. blouse with smocking

I love this pretty red color and the smocking. This is $19.99.

    8. ae soft plaid boyfriend shirt

I actually bought this shirt two weeks ago and have worn it more than I care to admit since then. It’s so soft and is just easy to throw on with jeans.

It’s on sale for $17.98 and comes in several color options.

    9. free people skinny sweatpants

These sweatpants are so comfortable and soft. I’ve basically had a pair on all week while I’ve been sick. Have I mentioned I’ve been sick?

These are $48 and come in several color options.

    10. levi rain jacket

So school soccer season has been fairly rainy so far which has made me re-evaluate my rain jacket situation because soccer is never rained out unless there is thunder and lightning. I really like the length of this jacket and it has great reviews. Even better, it’s on sale for $73.50.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.
