  • Fashion Friday: Edition it’s August, it’s hot and I don’t know why I’m surprised

Well I’m going to blame the heat and my lack of attention to all details during the summer time for the fact that I thought I posted our latest podcast and was apparently wrong because it’s nowhere to be found. But if you’re a podcast fan, you can find the latest episode here on our Facebook page or here on Sophie’s blog.

This is also the week we launched our new Patreon option where you can get two bonus episodes of the podcast every month for just $5.00. If you’ve been wondering “How can I hear more about nothing of real importance?” then this is for you. You can sign up for that here if you are interested.

Also, I’ve shared before that my sister, Amy, makes darling earrings and she’s offering 20% off her college football collection through Saturday, August 3 with no code needed at checkout.

You can find her college collection here if you are in the market for some cute earrings to get ready for football season. Otherwise known as the best time of the year.

And, finally, here are some cute things I found this week. In full disclosure, this is a really hard time to find clothes because it’s so hot to think about fall and too hot to think about caring whether or not you look cute for the rest of the summer.

    1. barclay maxi dress

I think this is gorgeous and would transition perfectly into fall in this indigo colorway. It’s $108.

    2. red peplum sleeve dress

I’ve always thought this site has the cutest things and then I forget to feature them. But that changes today. This is a great dress and just $48.

    3. part of the plan royal blue ruffle sleeve dress

I bought a dress in this royal blue color and it’s become one of my favorites. This one is really similar to the one I got from Old Navy and it’s $49.

    4. rayne top

Well I’m in love with this shirt. It’s stripes, it’s embroidery, it’s perfect. And it’s $52. It’s another piece that you can wear now and into the fall.

    5. ravanelle tunic

I’m here to tell you that leopard print in all it’s variations is a trend that’s not going away. I really like this tunic length top. It would look great with white jeans now and blue jeans with booties later. It’s $39.

    6. CRZ yoga high waist leggings

I’ve been hearing rave reviews about these leggings. And they’re just $28 and come in a ton of color options.

    7. asos long pleated smock top

This gorgeous top is on sale for $20 but an extra 15% off with the code ASOSSALEGRAB at checkout. I plan to wear it with my flare jeans and wedge heels.

    8. highland tee

I was in Free People yesterday and saw this tee and loved it. It’s a great length that could be worn with leggings. The buttons are functional so you could wear it open over a tank. It’s $68 and comes in a ton of color options

And actually I just saw that it’s on sale here at Macy’s for just $40.80 right now.

    9. universal thread collared shirt dress

I was in Target yesterday because it’s my second home. And I can’t tell you how great this dress is if you’re a person who likes an easy, comfortable dress WITH POCKETS to throw on. It’s super soft and longer than it appears in this picture. It hit me right above the knee and I’m 5’6″. I also normally wear a 4 and the small fit perfectly. It would be great with sandals now and with booties or tall boots for the fall.

It’s $27.99 and also comes in a gold color and a burgundy color.

    10. colsie wide leg pajama pants

I tried these on and they are so comfortable. I love a wide-leg pajama bottom because I feel like they look a little more lounge-wear than straight up pajama. These are super soft and $19.99. I tried on the small and it was a perfect fit with enough room to make them comfortable.

And this colsie striped lounge sweatshirt is perfect with them or even just worn with jeans or leggings. It’s a terry sweatshirt so super soft and lightweight.

    It’s $19.99.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition we are at the end of July and where did summer go?

It’s like the early part of this year lasted about six years and the last three months have flown by and now it’s almost time to start thinking about fall clothes. Which I don’t hate. Fall is really my favorite time of the year so I’m always a little relieved when we get to August and I know we only have two months left of super hot temperatures. In other words, we are halfway through summer in Texas.

Also, on a different note, I featured a dress a while back that was from an online shop called LuluNina. They contacted me and offered to send me a few things and I’m sad to report that they weren’t great. The material was weird and it definitely wasn’t great quality. I hate to say that, but I just wanted you to know in case you saw that dress and were tempted to try it.

Anyway, here are some cute things I found this week:

    1. sydney lace blouse

I have always been a sucker for a lace blouse and this one is no exception. It would look so great with a pair of high rise flares and I’m all about the flare jeans right now. It’s $98.

    2. bohemian floral print empire waist maxi dress

This is an Amazon find and it looks cute with sandals or wedges, but could also just be a swimsuit coverup. It comes in tons of color and pattern options and it’s $19.99.

    3. flutter sleeved tee dress

I like a t-shirt dress because they are easy and comfortable. This one is $39.95 but 30% off with no code needed at checkout. It also comes in yellow and a blue and white stripe. It comes in plus sizes as well.

    4. zella live in high waist leggings

These are my favorite black leggings from Nordstrom and I buy a new pair every year during the Anniversary sale. They are on sale for $38.90 but normally $59.

They also have a 7/8 length version with pockets for the same price. You can find those here.

    5. aerie desert sweatshirt

I have lived in my beach fleece sweatshirts this summer around the house, but I love this desert sweatshirt for the fall and winter because it’s long enough for leggings. They are on sale right now for $30. It comes in a bunch of colors and some patterned options.

    6. ae plaid embroidered shirt

This is a great shirt for the transition to fall and it’s on sale for $37.46. It also comes in a red and black plaid. It’s perfect for jeans and boots or booties if the weather ever decides to cool off.

    7. chuck taylor shoreline sneakers

I have the white version of these and wear them constantly. They are so easy to slip on and super comfortable. They are on sale for $39.90 and normally $60 and I think this pale pink color is so pretty.

    8. tie hem blouse

I don’t know about this top but I am intrigued. It has a 70’s retro kind of thing going on that really appeals to me. It’s $24.99.

    9. free people brooke flare jeans

Okay, the flare jeans. I am all in on these making a big comeback right now even though I never quit wearing them because the heart wants what it wants. These brooke flare jeans have all five star reviews and sound amazing. They are $78 plus free shipping and free returns on all jeans right now at Free People.

I also love these penny pull on flares that are also $78. I own these in black and they are my favorites. They are like leggings because they just pull on and they are so stretchy and comfortable and super flattering.

    10. surfside mini dress

This is on sale right now for $19.95 and it also comes in white and light green. It’s just a great coverup option and maybe it’s the end of summer and you’re over coverups. But maybe you still want one and this is the perfect option.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

In this episode we talk all about our recent visit to Pawhuska, OK to see Ree and stay at the Boarding House. We may talk excessively about all the food we ate while we were there. • Fashion Friday: Edition it’s good to be home

I’ve been out of town all week so this is going to be quick. I will say there are many good sale items to be found right now depending on what you may want or need.

Here are a few cute things I found this week:

    1. j.crew rainbow enamel hoop earrings

I have loved these all summer because they are so bright and fun, yet still just a hoop. They are on sale for $23.99 but an extra 50% off with the code WHOA at checkout.

    2. spanx faux leather leggings

This is the one thing I immediately ordered from the Nordstrom sale because I regretted not getting them all year last year. They are normally $98 but on sale for $64.90 during the sale and trust me when I say this is the only time you will see them on sale all year.

    3. h&m v-neck tunic dress

I realize not everyone loves a tunic dress but they are a cool, comfortable option for the summer heat and that part of fall that isn’t really fall but still just more summer in September and October. I am a fan. This is at H&M for $19.99 and comes in other colors and patterns but Meghan Markle has made me like this olive green color.

    4. halogen seamless crop bra

If you are in the market for a bra that is more of a lounge bra as opposed to the kind you immediately want to rip off your body when you get home, I have discovered that this is a good one. It’s normally $25 but on sale for $15.90 during the Nordstrom sale and comes in several color options.

    5. madewell suede stripe transport leather tote

I love these Madewell transport totes for just a great all around handbag. They are normally $198 but on sale right now for $131.50. It also comes in olive green. Probably because of Meghan Markle.

    6. caslon side snap tunic sweater

This is another thing I’m tempted to buy during the Nordstrom sale. I love a long tunic sweater and these snaps make this one cute. Plus, maybe it’s because I was a teen in the 80s but I kind of like this almost neon yellow. It’s normally $79 but on sale for $49.90. It comes in several color options in case this yellow doesn’t appeal to you.

    7. daily ritual jersey muscle swing dress

This cute, simple dress is just $18.50 and perfect to get you through the rest of summer. I like that it’s almost knee-length. It comes in several color options and a few stripe options.

    8. eva printed jute tote

Free People has 30% off all their sale items right now. This darling tote is on sale for $49.95 but an additional 30% off with no code needed at checkout. I would actually use this as an everyday bag during the summer because it’s too cute to save for just the beach.

    9. your girl tunic

This is on sale at Free People for $59.95 plus 30% off. I bought one years ago and I still love it. It’s so soft and perfect with leggings when the weather cools off. It also comes in a coral color. And I have the XS and it has plenty of room and I’m never an XS.

    10. nike no show socks

These are the best no show socks that I’ve tried because they stay put and don’t do that slink down thing that other socks do. They are on sale for $9.90 for a three pack.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition wow it’s mid-July

Well I missed doing Fashion Friday last week because I guess I was still caught up in the fourth of July festivities. Or maybe I just ended up binge-watching Veronica Mars with Caroline and forgot it was Friday. I can’t remember.

Whatever the case, we are now almost right in the middle of July which is insane. Summer is going to be over before I can blink, but on the upside it means college football is right around the corner.

Also, the big Nordstrom sale is going on for cardholders starting today. I personally am going to try to not get sucked into the madness and buy booties and sweaters I’ll regret later. My advice is to shop wisely and look for good deals on things you actually need.

    The end.

Anyway, here are some cute things I found this week:

    1. kaleidoscope black embroidered maxi dress

I’ve had my eye on this dress all summer. It’s just so pretty. It’s $74.

    2. nike epic react flyknit running shoes

I’ve been waiting for these Nikes to go on sale since I first saw them and now it’s all come together that I need new running shoes and these are 25% off and on sale for $111.98.

    3. bp 55mm round sunglasses

Meghan Markle has made me want to up my sunglass game. She always has the best sunglasses. These are $16 and I’m guessing significantly cheaper than the ones she probably wears.

    4. lou & grey vastra stripe blouse

I really like this top and it could transition well into fall with skinny jeans and boots. It’s $79.50.

    5. loft striped maxi tee dress

Loft has a bunch of stuff on sale right now and I really like this dress. It would be so cute with sneakers and a jean jacket worn over it. It’s $79.50 but 50% off.

    6. tie hem dolman tee

This is a great twist on a basic. Or should I say “tie” on a basic? I love a shirt that shows your waistline but doesn’t require a tuck in. This is $34.50 but 50% off and comes in several colors.

    7. 90 degree by reflex leggings

I haven’t ordered these yet, but everyone raves about how great they are and similar to the Align leggings at Lululemon, yet significantly more budget friendly at $21.99. They come in several color options.

    8. aerie play pocket and cuff leggings

I bought these last fall and they are still my favorite. They are without a doubt the best jogger/legging I own and so comfortable. They are on sale for $35 and also come in black.

    9. old navy tie neck dress

This dress is super cute, has great reviews and also comes in an olive green color. It’s $34.99 but 20% off taken at checkout.

    10. madewell leather pouch clutch

This has been the summer that I have given up on a large handbag. My shoulders just don’t have the time for that anymore. I’ve been waiting on this darling clutch from Madewell to go on sale and now it’s on sale for $44.50 plus an additional 30% off with the code VERYRARE at checkout which makes it practically free.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.
