  • Fashion Friday: Edition and now we find ourselves with no plans

I thought I’d be packing us up for a weekend trip to Dallas for soccer this weekend, but all our games got cancelled due to all the rain. So instead I’m wondering what to do with all this newfound freedom and time. The sky is the limit. We may go to Home Depot AND Bed, Bath and Beyond before it’s all over.

Here are some cute things I found this week:

    1. ae oversized chenille turtleneck

The weather finally turned cold this week and it has me wanting all the sweaters. Once you read the reviews on this one, you’ll want to make it your very own.

It’s 30% and just $41.96. It also comes in several color options and is allegedly long enough to wear with leggings.

    2. aerie play pocket and cuff leggings

I mentioned these one the podcast and I stand by my statement that they are the Gap sleep leggings of 2018. They are so soft and comfortable. They are $39.95 but 30% right now and on sale for $27.96.

There are also these aerie chill leggings which are on sale for just $10 and come in several color options.

I’ve been wanting some burgundy leggings so a pair for $10 was a done deal for me.

    3. eclectic peasant blouse

I’ve thought this was the cutest top ever since I first saw it. It comes in two color options and both are equally pretty.

It’s $79.95 plus there’s an extra 25% off all sale merchandise at Anthropologie right now.

    4. oversized sleep tunic

It’s hard for me to resist anything called a sleep tunic. I love a good soft top to sleep in. This is $29.95 plus an extra 25% off and it comes in other colors.

    5. colorblocked waffle sweater

Okay. This is not on sale. But you know how sometimes you just see something and in your heart you feel it speaking to you? That’s how I feel about this sweater. It’s $148 which I realize is pricey but maybe it will go on sale at some point.

ALERT!!! As if I called it into existence by mentioning sale, Anthropologie has 25% off EVERYTHING for today only!!!

    6. h&m knit turtleneck sweater

Here’s a much more reasonable sweater option that is just $19.99. It also comes in dark gray or light gray, but I happen to really love the thought of this blue with black leggings and taupe boots.

    7. loft plaid ruffle collar blouse

I love a blackwatch plaid because it is festive for the holiday season but still translates well for all winter long. This top would be great for the office with a pencil skirt or a nice pair of black pants. It’s $59.50 but you can get 40% off if you sign up for emails at Loft right now.

    8. loft modern velvet skinny jeans

Okay, remember the top you just saw? How cute would it be with these black velvet jeans? A perfect outfit for casual holiday parties. They are $69.50 but 40% off at Loft with the Friends and Family sale going on.

    9. j.crew factory plaid flannel shirt

I haven’t bought a plaid flannel shirt this year because I hadn’t seen one in a colorway that appealed to me until I saw this one. I just really love it and it’s different from any others I have. It’s on sale for $34.50.

    10. blank nyc meant to be moto faux leather jacket with removable hood

This week I was finally able to wear this jacket I bought way back during the Nordstrom sale in July and I love it so much. You can keep the hood on it for a more casual look or take the hood off and it’s perfect with nicer outfits or even over a dress. It’s just really a great piece. And even at regular price it’s just $98 which is a great deal for a jacket that feels and looks so much like real leather.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition cooler weather is on the way

That’s right. I just watched the weather forecast and the high here on Monday is supposed to be in the 50s. And it’s going to be rainy. It’s really too much goodness for my mind to comprehend.

So if you need me I’ll just be here making my grocery list to make things like chili and tortilla soup and all my favorite fall comfort foods.

Here are some cute things I found this week:

    1. malta dress

I love a wrap dress and I love this color. This would be a great dress for the office and to take you into the holiday season. It’s $148.

    2. monogram pendant necklace

Gulley bought me a version of this necklace for my birthday and I love it. This one is on sale for $28 and I think it would make a great Christmas present and/or presents for the girls in your life.

    3. loft denim leggings in black

I saw these in store and they are great. They feel like denim but have all the stretch of a legging which is really my favorite kind of jean. They are $79.50 and they will help me with my winter plan to basically just wear all black because it’s easy and I don’t have to think about it.

    4. cloth and stone chambray shirt dress

Anthropologie has a bunch of things on sale for $98 including this chambray shirt dress. This is a great basic that you can wear with booties or tall boots or sneakers. You can throw a long cardigan over it when the weather cools off.

    5. we the free by free people january tee

This is the softest long sleeve tee and I love the length. It’s great by itself or as a layering piece. It’s $48 and comes in several color options.

    6. coach tour a-line dress

This dress has great reviews, comes in plus sizes and also comes in a few solid color options. I happen to love this plaid. It’s $65.

    7. bb dakota girls in the hood faux fur trim ribbed coat

I already bought a new winter coat and don’t need another one, but this makes me wish I did. It looks so cozy and comfortable and I love the faux fur hood. It’s $145.

And there’s a plaid version called the you oughta know plaid coat.

    It’s $130.

    8. fringe trim poncho

I believe I’ve mentioned that I’m a fan of a poncho. This one from Forever 21 is just $12 and comes in a ton of color options. Just note that it’s final sale but how can you go wrong with a poncho?

    9. j.crew point sur open back sweater

This sweater is so cute with the buttons down the back and it has good reviews, although it apparently runs large. I love that it’s long enough to wear with leggings. It’s $98 but is currently 40% off with the code SAVEMORE at checkout.

    10. loft chevron scarf

I was immediately drawn to this chevron scarf. It’s the perfect accessory and it’s $44.50 although I bet Loft has a sale soon.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

All I need right now is some cooler weather and this cute star hoodie. It’s on sale for $24.99.

    2. loft striped swingy sweater

    3. gap softspun brushed joggers

I bought these last year and wear them constantly. They are $49.95 but 40% off with the code FALL at checkout. They come in several color options and are so soft.

    4. bp washed moto leggings

These leggings are $39 and I love the moto detail. They have great reviews and come in black or olive green. The reviews also mention you might want to size up.

    5. bp hooded cardigan

This hooded cardigan is on sale for $41.40.

It also comes in plus sizes here

    6. caslon cowl neck sweater poncho

I bought a sweater poncho like this several years ago and wear it all the time when the weather cools off. Mine is getting a little ragged with age and I’ve been looking for a good replacement so I was so happy to find this. It’s $69. It also comes in gray, light gray and tan.

    7. ae soft & sexy plush classic crew neck

Camo is such a big trend right now. This top is on sale for $24.46 although “sexy” might be a stretch, it does look soft. It comes in a bunch of different color options and would be great by itself or as a layering piece.

    8. selvedge chambray shirt

A simple chambray or denim shirt is your friend and so versatile. You can wear it with jeans, pants, camo pants, tied at the waist with a cute skirt. It’s just a great basic. This one at J.Crew is $98 but currently 40% off with the code BIGSALE at checkout.

I also love this western chambray shirt because it’s a little more rugged and has pearl snaps which makes it hard for me to resist.

It’s $88 but currently 40% off with the code BIGSALE at checkout.

    9. priscilla pointelle cardigan

Anthropologie has an extra 40% off all sale items including this sweater that’s already on sale for $69.95.

    10. chuck taylor shoreline sneaker

I bought these this past summer and have worn them so much more than I even thought I would. They are so easy to slip on and look great with everything from jeans to skirts to dresses. If you need a pair of sneakers, I highly recommend.

    That’s it for today.

Have a good Friday and a Merry Columbus Day.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition it’s the end of a very long week

Well, I don’t know about you but I’m glad it’s Friday. This week has lasted approximately 52 days. The good news is we had a little bit of a cool front come through on Wednesday which has made me feel like the time is near when I may actually have a reason to wear a sweater and boots. And that fills my heart with just a little bit of joy.

Before anything else today, I wanted to show you these darling earrings my sister has been making for fall.

I have the brown leather version and they have quickly become my go-to earrings right now. You can order them through her Etsy store, All Things New. They are $12 a pair plus shipping or 3 pairs for $30. She has a bunch of other cute options and is happy to make custom orders as well if you want something in a specific color or pattern.

Here are some cute things I found this week:

    1. free people tiered zip up hoodie

I have this in maroon. I bought it years ago at the Free People in New York and I still throw it on all the time when the weather cools off. It’s $59.97 and it also comes in gray. Keep in mind that Free People things tend to run large so you may want to order a size down.

    2. loire wrap blouse

I think this white blouse is so pretty and it’s on sale for $59.95.

    3. tunic laced dress

I’ve featured this before but now it’s on sale for $99.95. I just love this gold color for fall.

    4. bp brice notched bootie

I bought these booties back during the Nordstrom sale this summer. I actually bought them for Caroline and she didn’t like them and they happened to be my size and they are even prettier in person. I don’t always love booties, but I really like these. The top part is soft enough that you can wear it up or turn it down for a cuffed look.

They are on sale for $89.90.

    5. j.crew love sweatshirt

This sweatshirt spoke to me. I love the color and, well, the love. It’s $49.50.

    6. free people joshua tree jacket

This is such a great jacket and it’s on sale for $99.95 It also comes in olive or tan.

    7. striped shawl pocket open cardigan

I love this open cardigan from Loft. It would be great dressed down with jeans or perfect for the office with black pants. It’s $64.50.

    8. loft wrap around flounce flare dress

I’ve been debating on buying this dress for a while now because a little black dress is just a closet staple. And now I’m glad I waited because Loft has all their dresses on sale for $49.50.

    9. j.crew vail parka

This is such a gorgeous coat and they sell out fast every single year. It’s normally $198 but is currently 30% off with the code FALLFUN at checkout It comes in navy and camel and it’s even prettier in person. It’s a classic that you will wear forever.

    10. lou & grey signaturesoft hoodie dress

Did I mention that Loft has all their dresses on sale for $49.50? I love this casual hoodie dress because it’s so comfortable, yet you look like you tried.

I also like this lou & grey striped shift dress if you’re in the market for a good stripe dress.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition BTHO Alabama

    That’s right.

The Aggies have a big game this Saturday. 2:30 on CBS. We’ll be playing Alabama. Maybe you’ve heard of them. They have a pretty good little football team.

But I’m still in the throes of football optimism after seeing how close we played Clemson and I believe we can win. Or maybe I believe that we can keep it within two touchdowns. Either way.

I’m adding this video for all my fellow Aggies.

Here are some cute things I found this week:

    1. bp leopard print scarf

Leopard is the print of the season. It’s everywhere. And maybe you want to take baby steps as you add it into your wardrobe. It’s just $19 and would add a little pop to a lot of outfits.

    2. bp dolman sleeve ribbed top

I really like this top. It’s $39. It also comes in navy or gray.

    3. madewell kent striped cardigan

This was on sale earlier in the week, but I think it’s back up to regular price. It’s $98 but a really great piece to add to your closet if you need a good cardigan.

    4. universal thread lanae scrunch boots

I know I featured these last week, but I got my pair in and I love them. They look great on and are a steal for $39.99. They come in black, cognac, and taupe and appear to be selling out fast online.

    5. loft colorblock sweater vest

I love this sweater vest. It’s $69.50 but Loft has an additional 40% off with the code NEWNOW at checkout.

It would look great over this lush henley.

This top is so versatile, comes in a lot of color options and is $39.

    6. camo-print high rise leggings

These are at Target and just $14. That makes them a great option if you want to add a little camo to your wardrobe but don’t want to make a big financial commitment.

    7. free people holiday plaid buttondown

This is a great plaid top. It’s normally $108 but currently 50% off with the discount automatically applied at checkout. It also comes in a pink plaid. I kind of want it in both colors.

    8. free people penny pull on flare jeans

These are the most comfortable jeans because they pull on like leggings and are so soft and stretchy. They are a great flare jean option if your closet is in need. Just know that they run really long so you’ll need to wear them with heels (I do and I’m 5’6″.) or you can get them hemmed. Or you could always just cut off the hem and wear them with a raw edge. They’re on sale for $57.99. They also come in blue denim and ivory

    9. zella live in high waist leggings

Now that the weather is threatening to cool off (PLEASE LET IT BE), I wanted to remind you that these are the best leggings. They are super soft, wash and dry like a dream, and can be dressed up or down depending on your outfit needs.

    10. free people funnel of love pullover

Well, I am in love with this. It feels like it will be part of my uniform as I work on my next book and get in full on hermit mode which requires clothes that feel like pajamas. It’s normally $78 but currently 50% off with discount taken at checkout. It runs large so I’d order a size down. It comes in charcoal gray, ivory, rose, and an olive color.

    That’s it for today.

Have a good Friday and BTHO ‘Bama.

  • Fashion Friday: Edition it has been raining for approximately 800 days

Here’s the thing about San Antonio weather. We are either in a drought or it’s flooding. There is no in between. Our weather has no chill or sense of decency.

Currently, it has rained every day for approximately the last two weeks. On the upside, it’s no longer so hot that you want to die. The air-conditioning in our house even occasionally shuts off. On the downside, I’m having a hard time making myself do adult tasks like put on pants and leave the house.

Speaking of putting on pants, here are some cute things I found this week:

    1. galley shaker stitch cardigan

When I was a sophomore in high school, I was in love with shaker knit sweaters. Did I really know what that meant? Who were these shakers and how did they knit their sweaters? It didn’t matter. I just wanted them all. Preferably oversized to wear over my Guess jeans that were tucked into my socks.

All that to say, I am naturally drawn to this shaker stitch cardigan. It looks very cozy. It’s $74.

    2. universal thread lanae scrunch boots

Remember how I’ve obsessed over those Sam Edelman Camellia boots that sold out at Nordstrom and have never been seen again? These are about the closest version of those that I have found and – GET THIS – they are just $39.99 at Target. They come in black, cognac, and taupe and I have high hopes for all the dreams they will fulfill in my life if they end up being the least bit comfortable.

    3. a new day cocoon cardigan

I saw these in my local Target this week and they are a great basic and just $22.99. Some of the colors are sold out online, but they had them all at my Target so you may just want to check in store if you don’t see your size and color preference online.

    4. ellsworth marled cardigan

Anthropologie has several fall things on sale for 40% off including this pretty cardigan that’s on sale for $79.95. I love the colors and it appears to be super soft and cozy.

    5. cheetah clutch

I have a cheetah clutch that is very similar to this one and I love it. It’s a knockoff of the Clare V bag that runs about $250 and this version is just $39. This is a great way to add a touch of animal print to your fall wardrobe and it functions as a neutral.

    6. abound long knit cardigan

I love a long knit cardigan that’s lightweight. And I actually love this whole all white outfit with the gray cardigan and tan booties. I plan to replicate it in the near future. The cardigan is just $26.97 and comes in red, black, blush, gray, olive, and beige.

    7. the home t college town t-shirts

I stumbled across these t-shirts on Facebook feed in that creepy way that happens and you realize the internet knows your heart better than you know yourself. I think they are super cute and they have a wide variety of college towns represented. They are $30.

    8. spanx faux leather leggings

Everyone I know who owns these raves about how great they are and just a much better option than leather pants. I love that you can dress them up or down. They are $98.

    9. articles of society sarah skinny jeans

I love an olive green denim for a great option that isn’t blue. It’s a neutral color that will go with just about anything in your closet. These are $36.97.

    10. spalding women’s french terry sweatshirt

I honestly just searched Amazon for “French terry sweatshirt” because I love a french terry sweatshirt. This one popped up and I ordered it immediately. It’s $25.20 and also comes in charcoal gray. It’s perfect for Saturday soccer games, lying on the couch watching football, and curling up with Netflix on a cold night. In other words, it is perfect for all my favorite activities.

    That’s it for today.

    Have a good Friday.
